Garden Green.... Ever heard of it?

So, I'm on a hunt for a strain called "Garden Green", which I'd never heard of until the other day, and most say she's extinct.

She's an old outdoor favorite from the upper peninsula in Michigan. Supposedly finishes before October, is light green, resinous, and piney. Possibly an NL/Affie.

The only info I've found so far is from a 10 year old Michigan medical forum, where she's recommended for a fast finish, but no info beyond the recommendation.
I know it's a longshot, but I figured I'd ask around and see if I can dig up anymore info on it.

Any Yoopers around here, more in the know about this cut?

I just tried to google some info, but a company called garden of green or something like that keeps popping up. I haven't heard of it either but a fast finish is what I'd expect from most Indica landraces as they flower quickly before the snow gets to be too much.

I'm not having much luck finding the strain for you, but in the lower peninsula, Blue Cheese and Chem D both finish pretty early; Late September or early October depending on environment anyway. Oh! Cactido did really well too, and was done almost at the same time.

I'm a Yooper. Here's all I know, or think I know. Garden Green was/is likely a regional clone only variety.
Garden MI, is a village in the southern central U.P. in Delta County.
The entire area is known as the Garden Peninsula. There are generational growers in those parts. I knew a guy who had relatives there, and it he told me it was the kind of place where if you are an outsider, you just do go there asking about buds, or at least back in the pre legal days you didn't. I've never been there, but I know there is a strong cultivation culture there, has been for eons.
Of course this is could all be legend and lore, but Garden was sorta like the Emerald Triangle of Da U.P.

Awesome, thanks man! That's more info than I had before, and at least a start. Another closely held local legend, it seems.
I had a guy from Northern MI (not sure if the UP, but at least northern LP, who had the Monkey Paw cut and a couple crosses with it.
I asked if he would consider letting it out, and if there was anything he was looking for that he couldn't find, and would trade her for, and he said "Garden Green", so I made this thread.
Not sure if he's still looking for it, but I'll pass on the legend anyway. I saw on his IG he's now looking for a cut called "Ginger Ale".
He was super cool when I told him the MP cross he sent me didn't germ, and offered the MP cut instead, as he hasn't made the S1s yet.
It'll be nice to at least give him some info on the GG, even if its no more than a legend anymore.

Ok. Wow. Didn't know this many of us ate Better Made chips and drank Ginger Ale.... so during the next Euchre game maybe one of us can figure out WTF Hawaiian Sunshine is?

Two years ago while trimming a dude had that strain, and we end up with a bag that had ONE seed in it, which I sprouted last season, and it was female. It's also one of the only plants I've ever seen that can hold it's own in breeding sticky like Motor Breath or Blue Cheese...

Smells floral and fruity as fuck but with a spice in it. From what I heard it was done locally so...... lol.

This many people breeding in Michigan and Blue Cheese is at ONE dispensary for $400.00 an ounce..... come on guys, spread some Cheese!

I haven't looked around lately, but you still might be able to get ahold of Blue Cheese from Big Buddha seeds, the original breeder. You're not the first person I've known to call it his favorite. Unfortunately, from what I've seen on dispo menus, 95% of everything is a Cookie cross, so I can't say I'm surprised you don't see more BC or any of the other millions of strain choices out there.

Researching just about any Hawaiian strain origins seems to be an exercise in futility, if you ask me. I don't think I've seen any concrete conclusions or facts. Just lots of hearsay, and basically traces back to genetics from all over finding their way to the island via surfers/hippies/military, and being grown by locals without a lot of care keeping track of where they originated, or just really tight lips lol
Even the newer "Hawaiian strains" like the -Dawgs (Maui-, Skunk-, etc) aren't widely known for exactly what's in them. They're supposed to be nice though!
It sounds like you got lucky with the bagseed. Did it turn out like the original bag you had?

Oh I have Blue Cheese seeds; I grow that every year :) and yeah don't get me started on cookies.... GMO got rejected Garlic Cookies and GMO Cookies apparently because it isn't vegan enough..... *sigh* lol.

And yeah I tried Google for the Hawaiian Sunshine but as you said it didn't help..... like at all. Lol. It's awesome stuff I just wonder wtf the lineage is.

And yea!!!!! Bro it was probably even better really; if you walked by it and bumped your arm on a branch it spiked your arm hairs and made you smell le flowers and fruit.... I only have gotten like 5 seeds from the whole plant and had le a pound or so off it. Even dry if you don't watch how you grind it, it turns into pucks.... just covered in resin..... cutting branches when I pulled it.... I'd cut off about 10 branches and wood have finger hash just from that.

I didn't top it but I did experiment with growing it sideways; used sticks shoved in the ground to hold the plant down, and in a 20 foot by 10 foot high greenhouse the side branches went nuts and the top of the greenhouse had to be lifted so it wasn't jammed into the top. It went live over halfway across one entire side too
Massive plant. I've got pictures somewhere.

Sounds like a beast! I'm definitely down to try some Hawaiian something eventually...don't think I have, other than Star Dragon by Bad Dawg, which has a Hawaiian Bodhi works with buried in it a few generations back.

I can make an ounce of Blue Cheese disappear before your very eyes! Lol!

And yeah that Hawaiian Sunshine.... I don't think I'd do sideways again unless I had a screen already in place to hold the buds up, and take off wayyyyyyy more branches.... lol. There was just so many and that stuff was not ready until late.
