Golden Tiger 3rd Version grow

Day 15:

To keep the temperature down I've dropped light output for a couple of days. Right now it's at about 45%. This is going to become a problem in a couple of weeks so I'm planning to get a portable swamp cooler for the room the tent is in. It will help with humidity too - normally I don't care about humidity and it's always pretty low around here. But because this is a pure subtropical sativa, I've been spraying it with water a couple of times a day to compensate.

Day 23:

I was misting her every day, but discovered that by doing so the moisture on the rice hulls was giving gnats a way through to the soil. So I stopped misting about a week ago and gnats disappeared in a few days.

She's very healthy and I have been increasing light gradually. As of yesterday my Optic II is at 100%. She has a lot of lower branches and I've been tempted to remove the larger fans to give the lowers a chance to grow more. But I want her root system to be complete before I start giving her stress so I've resisted the urge so far. This is a long grow and I'm determined to be patient.

I took a soil sample this morning and am sending it in for testing. I feel this is my most important grow to date and want to give her everything she needs.

Two days ago I started giving her enough water to keep the entire pot moist, and she took off. I think she's drinking about 1/3 liter per day and soon I expect to be watering frequently.

Day 23 and her quinciniera was yesterday because day 22 she hit puberty. If you zoom in you can see her first hairs.

I broke down and yanked most of the large fans to give more light to the lowers. In a few days they're in the shade again! Now she's hitting her stride and I expect growth to take off.

I've had a portable air conditioner set to turn on at 79°F for the past almost a week, and humidity has stayed high. She's loving it but I'm nervous and watching her closely. It's really dry here so I've never had to deal with humidity-related problems. One good thing thing is that if I discover a problem it's easy to fix in this climate.

Power is at about 95% and I probably won't be able to exceed that without better airflow. I'm considering looking into a great light with an external driver. But probably not before she's done.

One month yesterday, and I'm really pleased with how well she's doing. The rice hull mulch was getting mixed with soil particles because I keep digging around to decide whether she needs water and mixing things up. I started seeing a few gnats.

Yesterday I took out the old rice hulls, top-dressed liberally with BuildAFlower Top Dress and covered it with fresh, clean rice hulls. It didn't need water, but next time I water I should see how it likes the BuildAFlower compost.

I also dialed back the light to 1/2 of the cobs capacity and 10% of the colored capacity, so she's getting 110 watts.

Five weeks and look how much she's grown in a week!

I've never had a plant grow this big so fast. I'm sure the Buildasoil living soil had something to do with it but also the strain is as vigorous as hell. I think it's going to be bigger and more beautiful than this:

i like that plant! it is compact and sturdy for a sativa leaning plant.
It's my understanding that it has a very active stretch. It has such an active veg, I'm really looking forward to the stretch. If it gets as tall as they say, my plan is to chop the ends when they get too close to the light and let the buds get really fat.

I was really surprised by all the branching in the lowers. It's going to be a killer SCROG. I think I'll be flipping it before the end of June and am looking forward to a very merry Christmas!

i'm dealing with extreme stretch right now. i flowered at 8" and they hit 36" in less than 2 weeks. it is an attempted sog with 32 plants that i've already installed a net on and am tying down.

what's the expected flower time on that plant?
OMG I'm in trouble. That's ok - I'm trying to challenge myself. Expected flowering time is 12-14 weeks under 10/14 (read 16 weeks+) lol.

I took two weeks away and there was nobody I could trust with my girls. So I watered her to absolute capacity, turned the lights down to 10%,vented the fan duct to the bedroom and said a little prayer. (Actually didn't pray)

Previous post was June 3rd. But after raising the light, this is what I encountered upon my arrival back home. Today: (Remember, it's a 20 gallon pot.)

She didn't even really need water!

Looking at the leaves, one could be forgiven for thinking she only needs 20 watts to survive. I was going to wait to cut clones but decided to do it now. A few minutes later the clones had all wilted. That's never happened before, so I'm sure she's stressed. Not a problem-I can still take clones when I lollipop her if these don't survive.

And I started the scrog training.

On or before 1 July is my target flip date.

5 days from flip and she hasn't started stretch yet, but I can tell from the colas that she'll be stretching in a few days. I hooked up a second 4" fan and the tent is staying just a few degrees above room temperature, so I'm confident heat isn't going to be a problem. I have the light up as high as it goes and it's 22" from the canopy, so we'll see whether height is going to be a problem. If so, challenge accepted! There are too many colas to count so I don't think so.

man, don't ever let anyone tell you that you lack patience! you have the patience of god!

i am one of those folks who has never run a plant in a tent.

i can't imagine running a sativa dominant plant in a space that small.

i have a Canadian friend who goes by "oldone" on eye sore mag. he grows these 120 day sativas in an armoire in the master bedroom so he can hide it from his kids.

he grew kali mist in it one time.

tortuously winding it all around the inside.

is that an automotive cargo net?

No I bought it at buildasoil. But I would have liked smaller holes. If things go the way I expect, I'll be adding two more as she grows.

This is the first time I've tried growing a real sativa at this scale - we'll see how well it goes, but I'm encouraged by your Canadian friend.

I've heard growing outside is harder. This will be my second summer doing that and I'm hoping it works out better than it did last summer!
