Grove TerpLoc Storage Bags as an alternative to jars.

As the cannabis market becomes more and more mainstream, I am always on the lookout for new tech that will simplify or improve on my current methods. I stumbled upon this company a month or two ago, and I immediately wanted to give it a try. I run a perpetual grow here, so I am constantly curing something, and it’s very easy for me to forget to burp jars, close then back up, or whatever the case may be.

Grove Bags advertises something called TerpLoc technology that claims we no longer have to burp, or concern ourselves with the moisture levels inside our jars. The bags are rated for 58-62% RH, so they also eliminate the need for Boveda Packs.

I am waiting for someone at Grove to email me the details on the science behind what makes these bags so much different than typical Mylar, but my experience has been a positive one so far.

I have cured 3 different cultivars now with as much success if not more than as I would of used “traditional” methods. I simply hung for a few days until I would normally jar my flowers, then, packed the grove bags and put them away.

Here are some wedding cake nugs after about 3 weeks in the bag with no burping. The buds are moist and spongey, but still snap when breaking apart. The RH in the bag according to a cheap hydrometer is 56%. No mold, and the terpenes are absolutely being preserved.

At a dollar a bag for the Quarter Pound size, I think it’s a pretty decent deal. They range in price depending on if you get windowed or not, or have custom bags printed. I spoke to a rep over there, and the price per case for custom printing is pretty much the same. I am seriously considering getting some made for myself.

Hope this is helpful to someone here!

Very helpful, thank you. I'll be picking up some of these on the 1st.

I wonder what makes them tick.
The tech, like you say.

Do you observe any structures unlike a normal foil bag ?
A pocket ? Or the like ?

Perhaps a magic membrane. Remember those fish shipping bags that would allow Co2 to escape, whilst allowing oxygen in ?

This is the inside of a non-windowed patch, it’s not foil, but the design seems relatively simple.

The gentleman I spoke to mentioned that the bag allows for outgassing. How? I dunno. Perhaps magic. Still waiting for an email with science words to explain what’s going on here. D0B35D58-EFB0-43AC-AA83-AADB8F6B320E.jpeg

These would benefit my lazyness immensely. Would feel more comfortable knowing how they work, but I understand them keeping the special sauce under wraps.

Might have to give them a go, i wish they had a smaller pack of the wicket bags to try out. Might have to grab a couple of the QP bags to compare head to head with my usual half gallon mason jars.

Ah you can get singles of anything if you select the mix and match, i might grab a variety to see what might work best for me.

Edit: why are the half pound bags cheaper than the quarter pound bags lmao
I’m not sure, could be because they are more popular? But pay attention because some have windows and some don’t. There is a difference in price there... I ordered some half pounds the first time around... just too big for me.

I am deffinetly going this route. I was wanting something to help my lack of knowing when to burp and how often, aswell as working late days always bothered me, sitting for over 14 hours sometimes till I could burp. Was looking at the lids you put on jars but these look much more appealing and cheaper. Thank you for posting!!

interesting. Last time I harvested I just put everything in vac seal bags after it was dried just to see how it went. let it sit in the dark for a couple months, and cracked a bag back open, very similair experience, spongy yet snappy, and extremly stinky. Maybe burping jars that dont need it is actually harmful?

I don’t burp my jars at all I get them dry enough to go through my trimmer than put a humidity pack at the bottom of the jar and fill it up and just leave them for a couple weeks than they are ready to go

I have never cured properly, always forget about burping or leave the lid off. For less then $2 a bag sign me up lol. Was going to go the humidity pack route this time but then these popped up. Hell last time I didnt grow enough weed for it to last long enough to cure out haha.
