A nice temple ball is easily my favorite concentrate - the taste, the effects --- really one of the most effective medications for my back (and it beats the crap out of poppin' pain killers).

After the first harvest from my 4x4 I had A LOT of larf & sugar leaves, so I bought some bubble bags. I think that starting to grow was the only better decision - I managed 7 grams of full melt on my first try --- seriously satisfying to smoke my own concentrate and have it compare favorably to the dispensary offerings!

45 to 90 micron hash...assorted buds i didnt want to trim (skunky VA, purple punch, eso gear etc).

I used the Buchner for 15 minutes...get the 6 micron paper filters and the hash doesnt stick it just plops right off.

It is a real time saver. It pulled about 3 tablespoons of water from that pile of hash...it was all pressed together. When done i rubbed it between my fingers and it went POOF...no chopping required. This is a really good use of the buckner for sure. It wont mold its fine as sand, dry as 5 days on a plate on my table ..starting out.

Great idea for sure. I have since heard of people modifying a bucket with a 25 all mesh and a shop vac to essentially do the same thing. I work in ounces if i am lucky...but it would be great if your running 20 or 50 gallon bags (they make 50s !!! WOW)

if you have a buchner and you make hash..this is a like a ghetto freeze dryer hack.

My favorite concentrate of all time is hash. I had a plant male flower right up when i first started going and started making hash. StickyGreen and BajaBeaches had tutorials and lots of advice and they started me on my hash making adventures.

It is also the safest concentrate to make...you cant even burn your hand on the rosin press !

Someone mentioned Frenchy Cannoli and it stepped up my hash making and the quality of product is incredible. Even if it is just a pile of larf and popcorn i dont want to trim.

Now i just grab the beauty top buds for my stash and put the rest in the freezer....when i get a washer full i run it. The fridge makes ice and i get 2 jugs of RO water ready from the machine and in 90 minutes im done.
i use a 25 73 120 160 and 220

25 and 160 goes in edibles. 73 and 120 I dry and smoke a bit of each. If its GREAT they go together.....

chop chop chop...dry on the mantle and in about 2 days its smokeble terpy fire.

After 5 to 7 days i can flatten it in a puck.

Then i did the frenchy cannoli bottle decarb but i dont drink wine so i used a 3/4 quart ball cylinder jar and put boiling water in that ....used an oven mit and start rolling it...folding it rolling it folding it until decarb....

Rolled it by hand (super clean hands) for 15 minutes while watching tv and Voila...into a jar to cure for 60 days and then i will really have something.

30 grams of 73 to 160 micron hash.

the flavor and aroma are pumpkin spice and sandalwood with a fruity backnote...a lot of punch and purple dream...LVTK ORANGEs Lemons...everyone in the pool.

Epicly strong and wonderful.

I usually flatten out a little disk in my ceramic pipe....light it up and watch the top of the hash melt into liquid as the terpy wonderful thick volumious smoke fills my lungs and my mind wanders filled with wonder and delight.

RIP Frenchy - learned alot from him use also a 75 and then 160 with dry ice method tried to do the bottle presing ans wow a lot of work - considering "pucks" but i will heat the puck once pressed in the presser - I think a little bit of heat really "seals"it One can purchase a hydralic hash press for about $250.00 ( by the looks of them, easy to make one) seen a press that was heated that would be the way to go think it was Stinky Hash Farm (forget the name at present )thay produced hash for retail in Cal

I was unaware he had passed, thanks for bringing that to my attention.
I have watched all the videos that I could find of his, and what I enjoyed most about them was that you could feel the passion that he had for hash making.
I have made just a little hand pressed hash out of dry sifted. The last attempt produces 3.25 grams.
I don't smoke, dab or vape, just use edibles. I do however wish I could try the hash I've made.
I just have to rely on a friend's smoke report to see how it has turned out.
So far I haven't received any complaints. LOL
My next go I will try to use the boiling water wine bottle method in memory of Frenchy.

I know that Frenchy would "tsk" this - but I have a dirty habit of making dry-ice hash with my bubble bags --- and I LIKE IT!

I came up with a loose rule - under a pound of trim / larf, I use dry ice to get the higher yield - 25% of 84g (21grams total) on my last run.
Strange though - my 45u isn't as narcotic as the 73u.
160u is for edibles.

Over a pound of trim and I think that the higher quality of ice water extraction becomes worth the lower yield / extra work.

My hash adventures are really just beginning. I am going to focus my harvests for hash production so i can age various hashes and accumulate a hoard.

I am part of Frenchys facebook page and lots of great info comes up there.


When to harvest....you let them go LATE. Right deep into the amber zone and let those BRACTS get Fat and juicy.

From Madame Cannoli - As we approach the harvest season I thought it might be helpful to share again the post from Frenchy's IG where he talked about the optimum time for harvesting the plant for hashish, which is different than harvest time for flower.
"One of the questions we get asked the most is - How to determine when to harvest for hashish production? In general, you will want to let the plant mature 10 days to two weeks longer when harvesting for hashish than when harvesting for flower. The BRACT will be very plump and the STIGMAS will have turned brown and started to fall off. This extra time is necessary for full resin development in the trichome heads. ⁠

I have a pound of buds in the freezer ready for the next bubble run.

2 dry ice runs have also resulted in...well the hoard has begun.

I think tomorrow i will run the hash washer for a little bubble bubble. :D

Frenchy style too...no work bag.
25 45 73 160 220 catcher and thats it ....just like Frenchy did, If the 160 is not very productive i will pull it after the first pass.

Then i will vacuum off the water for an hour and freeze it...micro plane it onto a pizza box i have and put it in the bar fridge for drying. Try and do it right this time :D

The Dry Ice hash....well it looks pretty good. Smokes like a boss too...WOW i get BAKED with bong rips on the front porch.

About 20 pieces like that Those are 16 to 22 grams.

But next it will be BUBBLE...lets bring on the full melt so i have to get a rig for my bong !

Wondering - wouldn't decarbing in the oven at 240f also dry the product as well?

IIRC, Frenchy decarbed before rolling (not above being wrong, and too stoned to watch / read much more than PH)

When I run ice water, I dry it on top of the grow tent - warm & dry up there - but it seemed that it needed the final baking at 240f to remove ALL moisture and make rolling much more difficult --- and much more rewarding!
My 45 & 73u from those runs was spectacular - but disappeared way too fast...
 
But next it will be BUBBLE...lets bring on the full melt so i have to get a rig for my bong !

If you really want to enjoy it, Frenchy Style, then get a nicely made 6” clay chillum. I found them hard to find, but eventually found a guy on Etsy who sells really affordable ones, and they really are a nice way to enjoy hash.

I also want to get a 3 hole pipe. They are pricey but they are pretty nice. And they make hand helds...I will find the link to this really nice hand held 3 hole water pipe that will not spill..you have to open a hatch to let the water out...GENIUS.

100 bucks...i shall rip the bong for a week or so and ponder it.

Because a clean bong with the right bowl IS the best way i have to smoke hash. Once you fire it up just right...then you hit that pipe like Gandalf talking to Frodo.

Sitting on a comfy chair, taking your time. I don't cough smoking hash.. I have time.

To further prove the point i just ripped a bong load of that in the bong.

And it took a bit but it got going nice and tasty...Delicous spicy hash.

I have never been able to smoke the hash i made today before. Pretty cool.

I was re-reading this thread and thought on one of the things I do love about making dry ice hash is the literal instant gratification:
After I finished my first shake on the 73u bag and started the second shake, my Wife loaded the bong with kief that was still cool to the touch.
The aroma, flavor and resulting smell in the room was similar to live resin.
It's also one of my favorite things to gift friends with. I'm not sure why, but making a few grams of kief, and then rolling it into temple ball hash blows people's minds.
