Hey OldG,
I enjoy watching your hash making, very interesting stuff.
Your last de-carb method brought to mind a question, so I just thought I'd ask.
If the intent is to make edible hash, could you decarb the bud before making the bubble hash?
Or would that screw up the bud and not make it wash well?
I have never heard of someone using this approach and was just wondering if it would work well?

Bottle decarb hash is to make it ready to stone at the spark of a lighter.

Frenchy was right...it is vastly different and a proper bottle decarb will get you higher with half the hash.. your mileage may vary but he WAS right.



Being a newbie to hash making I had no idea that Frenchy actually invented this idea...from his years of making hash in the mountains of Afghanistan and Pakistan..

I came into it with tools ready to go and Frenchy, he showed the how...and the tools...and i use the ideas today because it is best practice. And my work life was a combination of 6 sigma and best practices. If I think it is logical i can abide.

I've seen all the Frenchy videos that I have been able to find including this one. (but of course I watched it again...LOL)
He does a great job explaining the process, and I love that he was willing to share his experience with others.

The problem with decarbing the flower is that it will not only melt the trichomes, but it will turn the flower into crumbly powder once you agitate it, and that fine powdered flower will make its way through the screens.

I figured there was a reason that is was not being done that way, and to be honest, I suspected that would be the problem.
Just wanted someone else to say so.

45 good for extracts 73 you get more of he trichomes (so to say) vs head's (45) ( but it is cleaner if you know what Imean)

I think that's actually what I was getting at - the 45 is too "clean". It's potent, but IMHO very one dimensional.
A pure 73u temple ball is usually a heavy medication for me - happy, groggy head and a full body stone.
Second run 73 isn't quite as good, but still in the "Very nice" category.
1st run 160u is super stony, almost never rolls into a nice ball (breaks up a lot). Usually ends with a nap.
2nd run 160 is for edibles - I beat the crap out of the material until it's obviously green.
--- I use a little water in the butter - debris & vegetable matter fall to the bottom as it cools (still a small layer of fine silt in the final product, doesn't bother me...)

Has anyone ever used a pizza stone? The art behind what Frenchy is doing is working the decarb algorithm. This is why he has you hand press first imo.

I think you could smooth out the algorithm with a surface that is the same temp as the bottle.

I have an ardent but haven't used it yet, I have a grip of hash not full melt but bottle tech should improve it.

IMHO Warm both.

I'm no scientist, but isn't Frenchy's technique:
Pressure + heat to burst the trichome heads into an amalgam...
...while heat decarbs the mass...
...making it more bio-available to the body's receptors...
...as well as encouraging it to melt in the presence of high heat (flame over a bowl, for instance!)
The ball shape is for preservation (presents the least amount of surface area to the open air) and allows curing / aging.
The cellophane wrapper has a reason too - pressure(?) ---- the bong-load I took while reading this has kicked in*. :stoned:

So, the warmed pizza plate and warm bottle should accelerate the process and help make it more complete with less effort.
As always, I'm open to being mistaken!

*a first for me - my neighbors gave me an ounce of Strawberry Kush from seeds I gave them and advised the grow - WELL DONE!

Interesting article about aged hash and how it transforms. I have to get some cellophane and label the jars.

I used that method to age some hash I made from Northern Lights for 22 months and it was amazing when we smoked it. I first checked on it after 17 months, and it was so soft (like warm bubblegum) I thought I messed up, but I contacted Frenchy and he explained that is actually how it should feel. You can see how gooey it was in this picture I sent him of the one I opened at 17 months.

it is amazing how it looks....like roofing tar and it will tar you....might feather you too :D Looks amazing.

The aroma is what is most incredible with an aging. And the delta9 goes up tremendously. That is how you make sleepy time hash ! :D I have 3 plants hanging and half of them will be hash (after a dry and a cure)...next chops are going to get fans plucked and right into the freezer for a hash run.

Once the new bags show up. Rosin Evolution i will use a 25 to get the last bits for eating....45 160 220. the 90 ...maybe the first run but i like that 45 to 160 all round as the best.

I always describe the high you get from it to my friends as a "slit eye high". It's a super happy high and you can barely hold your eyes open.
