We have smth called Medicare for folks who don’t have means to pay for insurance but it’s a lotta jumping through hoops and in the meanwhile you’re dying. Even if you do get it it’s very limited w substandard care that working folk gotta pay for. Lotta system riders but hey ppl need some sorta health care. Double edged sword. Private insurance out here is expensive AF depending on who you work for. If I ever wanna be my own boss I’d have to pay out the ass but I think it’s worth it for not having to work for the man. But that’s how it’s gonna be for now especially considering my health issues. Over 1 million and that’s just for hospital not the specialists and whatnot. They’re trying to stick me for almost 200k but I’ll be fisticuffing that shit.

Navigating all that shit, especially when you are under the weather is cruel. Medical insurance, medicare, social security, disability are all a substantial pita to get thru. The only way to get Medicare is to retire and be 65 or be on SSDI. Even if you qualify for ss disability.....you don't get Medicare for 2 years. WTF is that?? "Yes, we agree you are disabled and can't work....but you are on your own... stop by in 2 years for your Medicare" is the reality. " We don't give a rat's ass how you eat or pay rent for those 2 years and don't get sick....ok?" "What's that.you're legs fell off??....well ok suck it up until your medicare kicks in...24 months will fly right by"
Yes I have insurance that I pay through at work. It's decent, the rates haven't gone up in several years and it covers a good chunk of drs. But the whole battle between carriers and facilities is crippling it right now. They go through negotiations every 3 years and it's always been resolved by the last day of Dec. Things aren't looking so good cuz they still haven't come to an agreement. I get to reapply for continuity of care every three months if/when they resolve. But if they don't that means a whole new network and set of drs that have been working on my case. Plus it took me over a decade to find the most compassionate caring dr. Most of the ones I had prior were cocky dickheads that wouldn't listen or work with me just wanted to push their agendas and get good health grade scores kinda like Yelp. So they are trying to stick me for 200k AFTER the insurance responsibility. I'll try all possible angles like the debt relief site @UncleB found.
