it’s been shown that iso 70% will be more efficient but 90% doesn’t because it evaporates too quickly. Like bleach , it may “kill 99.9%”, but that’s why it’s not a virusicide or agriculture grade because not only if your room is removing humidity and it’s harmful, it can’t even kill so many virus or molds.

iso 70% and treat every tool or anything touching a plant with iso or virucide like physan 20 or procure v

treat your plants like your a doctor to each patient, to many people dont think like that and no wonder they have cross contamination of their virus or issues Including pest.

my way of doing this as a prevention is every plant or clipping, have my scissors in a holder of iso 70% and then I have a spray bottle of iso 70% as well for my hands or anything else that needs to be sprayed that has plant contact . biggest reason why many states the whole clone scene after better lab testing of tissue they had such a high population and still do of this virus and others. Or even shows 10% of seeds are born with that disease ( a lot of people see infected plants as dudds or runts, a lot of the time it’s infected from birth or after )

so far after switching my ways of deleafing to cleaning my hands inbetween and making sure to be anal about these rules. My plants are bomb Inless it’s a runt trial plant. Think that was one of my issues back in the day and you would call a good plant for so long and then it becomes a “dudd “ or sickly plant.

not like these kind of virus haven’t been around , they didn’t just appear cause veggies and misc that could use better tech labs to test their tissue , it showed similar issues.

No offence put this information is now outdated. We have recently discovered the the HpLVd actually binds to alcohol of any percentage. Our company has spent upwards to $200,000 building a lab in house and sending 2 employees off to be trained on how to properly test for HpLVd, and operate the equipment. We are currently using a commercially available product called Virkon (links below). Virkon is a multi-purpose disinfectant possessing broad-spectrum virucidal, bactericidal and fungicidal activity. It contains potassium peroxymonosulfate, sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate, sulfamic acid, and inorganic buffers. It is typically used for crime scene cleanups, hazardous spills, disinfecting surfaces and soaking equipment. We've found that soaking scissors in this product for approximately 20 minutes totally wipes out the viriod, keeping it from spreading. This is only a small step in the right direction, and hopefully more methods will be discovered soon. We've been calling this blight: COVID for Cannabis or COVID-420. and much like COVID-19, it's going to take all of us in the industry, working together, to make sure this doesn't spread any further then it already has.

Google this “company/lab” name on a search engine or do any compares and you won’t find any creditable garden , expert or anything really suggesting or say on it.

This is not a new issue and the testing and these requirements isn’t needed and to costly to do for majority of hobbyist but also your “answers “ would make someone if they touched a plant plant , u would need to have your gloves or have em soak for 2o min , same with any tool (even if you had a bunch of extras , good luck ) and you have to do this for every plant or you could infect the next plant . No plant could touch each other . The testing for this even if not positive you can still have it like cancer on a diff part . It would cost 1000’s of dollars to even do a test and at any time u could easily reinfect em even if confirmed not infected . Not to mention majority of states don’t have the testing dialed down or not willing to anyone but LP to testing or advisor work

I’m good on a company and rep calling a non air submitted and nothing related virus to HPLVD when it’s touch and that’s the submitter , if so it would be air Bourne prevention

. your actions for soluction and even how long till removal of such issues is longer than bleech (urs is 2x ),bleech is 10min . As a suggestion Watch the more updated videos that were on the bottom and every expert from Oregon state to way bigger labs than you and do have credit in this issue all say they truly don’t have a Cement answer and bleech for tools was only base they suggest by now

I’m good on snake oil , at least non creditable and all they had is “ we spent 200k”

I'm a bit skeptic myself when a member's only post is pushing their product within 2 hours of creating a profile ?

I mean unless you just really needed to tell us ?

I found it ironic that Dark Heart discovered HLVPD yet spread it more than all of the other nurseries combined!

I don't like alcohol or bleach when I disenfect the tools, instead of I use ? and I do believe that outside of tissue culture probiotics and high brix just might be the best way to rid a cut of this

Since were on the topic, what do you guys think of using 30% peroxide?

i use my 30%+ peroxide as a “precleaning” (dilluate it 3-5%, 1.25 tablespoon of 30% per gallon of water ) for my floors/walls/equipment on via mop/cloth or stuff can sit/sprayed on. reason = always better to scrub than just add water on stuff (mop) and add final cleaner later for a better result . Example look a food plate or w/e try to just add soap or rinse it for w/e amount of time,it’s the rubbing off and catalysts effect like brushing your teeth

than my final thing is a virusicide , been using prokure v and my biggest suggestion would be physan 20 for cost and 14 day resistant after dry intill washed off on majority virus/molds .

stuff is my go to while cleaning floors, previous used pots, equipment, walls , anything but not wood. If your doing pots or rez’s, if you are using soil or a medium that uses bennies, re rinse after viriusicide , I use uv cleaned water as my final rinse if pots/rez’s so I’m not re-adding gross well water

great price per dollar and does many things like for example for floors that long term protection , example bleach the issue it does not have a long term protection , it evaporates no matter how strong u bring it and it’s harmful to breath and many negative factors vs many ag grade and hospital. Version for prevention and disinfect for viruses and molds.

i will email or call physan and ask em if they ever got reports if you can use their products for this topic and if they have anything to add. Many know physan is and it does work against what they suggest and it’s directed towards, just not assuming it can conquer that

*edit: called physan up and they confirmed yes their product will work no to fight and eliminate all issues with hplvd , just needs 10 minutes and does not need to be removed when doing tools !

I’m not doing iso anymore , physan 20 @ 1.5 table per gallon , wait 20 min while tool or misc thing before it’s finnaly cleaned

I use it for so many cleaning areas . Grow room, bathrooms and all listed above . Dollar per gallon hard to beat when diluted it won’t hurt ya . You can even use it as a mold like pm or budrot and many issues if you don’t care about killing your good bennies and fungi

10% bleach, Virkon S tablets, or heat. I personally have a glass bead sterilizer in my nursery and keep a pair of scalpels in it while taking cuttings. I have 50 different cultivars in my nursery and I'm not risking having to do meristem culture outside of my normal plan.

Ironically, I will never buy clones from Dark Heart due to what they did in the past but I do use their services to to test for viroid panels.

I just dumped a lot into my tissue culture lab but I will continue to outsource my virus testing to Dark Heart or others. I don't really have any current plans to do test for it. I am a bit biased because I'm an Aggie alum and so is Tera. Some folks don't know that they recently moved their lab from the east bay back out to Davis so they are way closer to me than they used to be.

Beat me to it, I tend to wash all in hot soapy water then hit the blades with the torch. I know heat dosnt work on everything, lol. If this is ever in my room I'm fucked...

I have to wonder though about the many "duds" I and others have ran. I keep the newest separate from the library and they're sometimes tossed out into the bonfire if I suspect anything.

Not mentioned, but quatracide is my choice disenfectant to wash and wipe down things as needed. It's all I was allowed to use when I pasteurized dairy products under the guidance of the Agricultural mandations and laws. I still think it's ? better than bleach.

Most labs don't charge much to test for hplvd. I think DH is $50 so for the price of a small sack of weed you can get a 3 viroid panel and some peace of mind.

Keep in mind that samples need to be pulled from 3 different parts of the plant and it can be latent (hence the name) and you should retest at a later date.

I had a potential gig lined up and their lead grower handed me two 20 year old plants with the "they just don't act like they used to" warning. I had them quarantined and while trying to optimize nodal tissue culture protocols but I noticed the simplest stuff just did not work. I sent samples to DH along with a control and they both came back with HPLVD.

Now I test in and test out.

I've been using hypochlorous acid sanitizer for years. I started with h2o2 and isopropyl alcohol but started using the hypochlorous after hearing of how well it works at killing pathogens. Never have had a plant disease since. Good shit. Anybody know if it's effective against this virus?

wish I could give you a answer but when I asked that exact thing but also physan 20 would it work and the people on that podcast who are owners of labs for this ethier brushed the products off multiple Times or ignored the questions entirely.

it’s funny I asked for suggestion if they would agree on physan 20 like 20 times ( but they would answer like h2002 or iso if it would work ) and I even gave url to their label, the exact ingredients and ethier of these labs which are in the game for this issue didn’t know if it would work, didn’t know those products like it was new or not used in ag, which when you look up physan 20. It’s if not one of the top virusicides out there approved for greenhouses and growing facilities and every hydro store has sold it for over 10 years.. mkay

when asked physan directly they said they did Confirm it could sterilize that np like all ag issued virus or similar things they could control by cleaning tools in 10 min sit on scissors. He also like the person above said ” really I only keep em in 4-5 minutes and there’s less than 1% chance of anything “ which I’m gonnea do, 5 min tool cleaning times , just need a few extras so you never have to wait eh and unlike bleech it’s not gonnea damage ur tools as bad

from what these experts on testing, they def recommend multple testing and even then it sounds so expensive and also no guratee . Why waste when if you see a previous ran keeper not suceeed and show not the sucess, just kill it next round and start from scratch. Good luck trying to revert and conquer such caude even the labs were saying it’s not worth that route even if it was this such demanded but holy grail keeper.

not trying to sound negative but reminds me of when doctors and certain protocols be cemented and they know 99% of people these protocols and testing won’t be their main sucess or what a grower/costumer should be to sucess.

Pretty sure I was watching that podcast and yeah I agree, they avoided the question. If it is the one I am thinking thought that guest is supposed to appear again soon, perhaps I'll register up so I can participate in the chat. I want to know about calcium hypochlorite, its free chlorine same mechanisim as bleach.

I'm not dissing Strainly, but I'm going to assert that it's the best example of a place where Hplvd is a freebie time after time. 90% + of the sellers tend to actually be tied one way or another due to the sheer amount of trading as well as the constant rotations of the many cuts sold from vendor to vendor. It's actually pretty easy to see the trails stamped in the reviews and all to often these vendors are apt to sell cuts as soon as possible while often never running the cuts first, let alone assessing each individually fully by observation and aging.

There's no such thing as a strain within the nomenclature of Cannabis, but Strainly does have some interesting Viriod and other Strains of Viruses among the cultivars sold there.
