Hunting for Old School

Hey Folks, I'm a "kinda" knowledgeable guy that had a grow experience about five years ago that was up and down. It was a partnership that fizzled. The only good thing I got outta that experience was a nice jar of Chernobyl. The rest of the lines we ran got mold. We didn't have a dehuey or much growing experience. That Chernobyl that survived was outstanding and I was determined to grow it again someday...

That day has come as I have some of BobBitchen's Slymer S1's on the way (Golden Ticket "cut" of Chernobyl that he selfed). I don't know much about S1's but suspect there will still be some variation among the offspring. At least they'll all be females ?.

Besides the Slymer, I'm popping some Cinderella99 F?'s from FleurDuMal with his General's Daughter (C99 x G13). I have some AK47 f2's from Joey (HempDepot) and Mikado bx I want to try but don't want to overwhelm myself ?.

I'm thinking about the leanest way to go about "the hunt" with regard to sequence of events. I really don't want to WASTE ANY TIME and want to get the Slymer to the finish line "first and fast" since that's fem... the rest are reg's. I'm gonna want help choosing pots and mediums, and maybe nutes (sidebar... K.I.S.S. using just Maxibloom worked GREAT five years ago. I notice folks blending the grow and bloom now through 2nd week of flower. Any of y'all have an opinion [ut oh?] on using K.I.S.S. in Coco for this pheno hunt?

I've got a 2x4 veg tent and the flower room will have two Gavita 1700e's side by side in a 4.5' x 9' footprint when I start putting it together next week. Adding a 3rd 1700 once the hunt is complete and I have some solid mothers to clone from.

So that's my intro and I stand behind it ?. Any input/questions on the strains, lights, setup, etc are welcome and appreciated. Thanks Folks!

Welcome to pH.
Awesomesauce mang, love the lineup, and the spot you're working with. Those are some damn fine genetics and lighting you're got going for you there.
Imho I'd get to dropping those slymers, let em go wild, and take clones. Being as they're fems I'd put them in their big girl pots once they're established, saves transplant shock later in life, and a happier plant imho.
Drop some regs in there too, I use 2L size pots til they sex, and get them running too. Any plans to keep any males if you get them?
I do all ROLS so can't help ya with nute selection unless its dry amendments you're going to go with.
Pots: I like the plastic 2L size for hunting regs, and usually go with fabric 10-15 gals for final pots. 3 gals for moms, or something I'm not going to let veg for very long.

Talk about speedy replies... I hadn't even left the park yet and got some AWESOME (?) INFORMATION... thanks! ROLS or some other form/style of living soil is my goal but doesn't seem appropriate until you have a star lineup. Thanks again for the chime Awesome.

Welcome to pH bud. I’ll let the experts chime in with the suggestions but I can say I loved the original Chernobyl (anything TGA/SubCool really) and that the Bob's you hold there seem to be beauties based on some posts here. Seems the discussion of it recently has run DCSE out of stock.

Hope you get the help you seek and I’ll see you around.

Welcome to the hunt. I can't help much, but listen to @JL2G ^^ he is very knowledgeable. There are lots of others here that can help and a few people growing @BobBitchen s1.
Enjoy I can wait to see whT you get
Cause I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and dog gone it, people like me. Lol

Lol, I was sitting at the computer trying not to go to work when I saw your thread pop up. I'm often much slower. Lol
Imho if a living soil is your goal then go right for it, saves buying things you'll end up shelving down the road.
Startup cost is pretty inexpensive if you don't get killed with shipping costs. I keep purchases as local to me as I can get for that reason. Quite a few other organic growers doing the same ROLS routine on here as well, plenty of info/help available.
If your interested in some hydro, then check out @HydroRed 's budget flood and drain thread.
A great intro to hydro, and an inexpensive build out. All methods are grown by many here. Lol.
JL2G... looked like the name was Awesome Sauce the way it displayed on my phone. Or maybe it's the Peach Crescendo I'm choking on got me seeing things ?. I'm sorry for calling you outta your name JL2G... my baaad mang.
All good mang, the initials are for "Jesse Loves 2 Grow" cause I do. Lol
The avatar is Awesomesauce. Its one of my favorite sayings for extra cool/awesome things.

Put the @ symbol in front of names to tag someone, or just hit the reply button to their post. Either works.

So I'm not keen to the etiquette on these forums so let me ask right up front... Should I personally thank each individual that comments or says hello? Or can I "hey thanks everyone that commented" when I return to the thread to update? I did give a like to each comment though... not try'na seem exclusive since I did that with the first handful of folks that replied. Anyway good news... I got a Bitchen delivery today ?!!! Can ya's guess what it was???

Just be polite and courteous, don’t engage in political discussions, and the rest is 100% up to you! Welcome!

No excuses now, right? And that Honeybee... I see more TGA in there (P'berry) so should have a good nose with the Grapestomper in there as well. But to my biggest surprise... COOL A F stickers and a magnet to boot! Now that's branding Bob, excellent job!

It's been a pretty good first day here: plenty of good folks replied and made me feel welcome, I got a look at a few other Slymer grows on here that appear to be PURE FIRE from the pics so I got plenty to look forward to; I got the beans. I'm feelin' all VIP now ?

I'm still debating whether to go ROLS (no experience) or Coco&KISS. As far as water, I could do RO but I understand the backwashing is pretty wasteful so I'm leaning towards running my tap water through a Boogie Brew Plus filter and then aerate it for a day before use. What y'all think? I'll be thinking about that, pot size, and how many I can get under one of them Gavitas. My first mind says nine plants finishing in 2g square pots (CocoKISS) or 3g square pots (ROLS).

G'nite everybody
