Ahh! There's a thread about them on here I think started by PlumberSoCal, and they're designed so that you can dry the buds, and stick them in, and they're smell proof, and supposed to keep humidity between a certain percent, and apparently they prevent mold, and help with terpenes, though I'm using them for the first time. As long as the Bud is dry, you can pop them in, and forget about it.

And yes, Jars are pretty heavy from high up and I can imagine that scream of "Ah shit!" when it lands LOL. My friend had a can fall on her toe and broke it I think, and my dumb ass was all like "Was it a can of PotaTOES?" LOL.

I've noticed lately that stem snap isn't always accurate. I like giving a few nugs a little squeeze to make sure there's no springiness or spongey-ness. They should feel dry all the way through like you could grind it up with your fingers almost.

The first couple days or first week in the jars check on them frequently, and when you air them out, place just the flat disk of the lid on top of the jar leaving only a sliver of crescent to allow air to escape. You should notice strong terps coming from the jar. If things start feeling dry, screw the lid on tight. Then check again and repeat until desired level of dryness/quick cure is achieved and they're ready for long term storage.

As others said, the slow dry out is the key.

I check my stems before I jar them to begin the curing process, but it sort of depends because some buds are not fluffy and air filled, so it stands to reason those would take a little extra to be "done" or "ready" to be in the jar.

I discovered a slow cure literally by lazy accident; I simply had so many jars it wasn't really possible to do each jar the way people say to do them, so I'd open a jar, place it sideways, and leave it open all night, and then cap it again for DAYS. Then opening it up days later, it'd be wet again, so I'd cure it or a bit, and continue on. Depending on how moist the buds are, I generally will open the jar, after giving it a shake to make sure they aren't clumped up, place jar sideways, and leave open for an hour or two, and then in the middle, sometimes I flip the jar, give it another shake, and let the "other side" dry for a bit before placing the lid back on.

I still have like 3 jars of Blue Cheese that has been in a jar for.....5 months now? And they're still to wet to actually grind up and smoke, but the smell that comes permeating out of those jars..... Whew!!! I've mentioned before how the Mother and Clones have a super Skunky Sour smell, with a little sweetness on the back end, and my nose has picked up on that, Cat Piss smells, and now some have a VERY nice sweet spicy mix of all of those smells mixed in. I haven't cracked open some of these jars in well over a month, and I know they're wet still, but when I do open them, I give them some times to air out, and a shake of course, and then close them back up.

I still have two TINY little nuggets of Motor Breath from the very first two clones I ever had of it, and they have been in the same Moonshine jar I placed them in, and boy let me tell you about a SOUR smell of pungent wonder that jar currently has LOL.

This passed season I had so many plants and branches hanging that it wasn't easy to make room (We legit put a shower curtain rod across the closet and used those hangers that have 10 clips each, and had those ALL the way across the closet) and of course a sticky note with what it was LOL. Making room to pull more branches as they became ready wasn't easy, so some had to go in a bit moist, and some ended up drying up pretty good before they went in, but a good curing seems to really bring out those smells that I try to bring out in the strains I have.

Even with all these Grove Bags, I still think my favorites will get jarred up and cured by me as it just seems like that is still better in terms of bringing things out. Once they ARE cured though, then yeah the bags are good for long terms storage. Though at the end of the day, papers are cheaper than jars :)
