ILGM Your experience? Yay or Nay

Personally, it's a nay for me. 60% Germ rate roughly throughout. Some strains have had 90%+ germination, and on the other end of the spectrum my last purchase. I've attempted to sprout 5/10 mango kush seeds with a 0% Germ. Germ rate with random seeds, and seeds given to me by friends/family is 80%+ easy, so don't believe it's an issue with my method.

Honestly thats my main frustration, and they're customer service is decent. My first order which had a similar issue with germination had seeds replaced, but with a few of the ones that did not germinate, and a remainder of 'what they would give me' which was there gold leaf. Cool, but not what I ordered/wanted. Do any of you use ILGM, any success/issues? Who would you recommend?
(Major bonus points for any breeders with landraces) Found 'The Landrace Team' and tried to contact them but haven't received any correspondence...yet?

Since I mentioned my issues with germing ILGM seeds, figured I'd share.
My germ method:
Water from bottled water, in a cup with the seed 18hrs. Xfer to wet paper towel temped at 80F in a plastic container with the lid 3/4 corners on.

Never used them, but I've also never heard anything good. There's too many solid, small scale breeders for me to roll the dice on guys like ILGM or Crop King.

Everything I'm about to say assumes your in the USA. I retroactively realized I shouldn't assume you are after typing everything below, but fuck it I'm not changing it. If your not in the US, I like Attitude Seedbank. Seedsman is also solid.

There's several breeders on the site here I can highly recommend. Schwaggy Seeds, Briscos Bargain Beans, Eso's Seeds, 3thirteen, Freak Genetics, Dino Party. Feel like I'm forgetting someone, if I did, sorry, I'm high, it wasn't intentional lol. Eso's and Dino Party have their own websites, everyone else is at DC Seed Exchange or Great Lakes Genetics, which are the two seed banks I'd recommend most.

I also really like Useful Seeds, Bohdi (available at those same banks) and AK Bean Brains (good choice for landrace and vintage strains, available at JBC Seeds),

There's dozens more good breeders, it's hard to even remember them all. I've tried a good number of the seed banks (I don't have a problem, you have a problem!) so if you have any questions just holler

I will be checking out, all of these! Thank you for the insight, well thought out and relayed for being high! Also it was not in vain, I am indeed in the USA! I'm looking forward to trying some new beans, genetics and if i'm lucky some landrace's on the way. My #1 iso strain Mango Biche wish me luck!

So I'm not sure where to find Mango Biche on its own but Headie Gardens has a few of Bohdi's crosses using it, including Dread Bread (Dread Bread (Mango Biche ‘Colombian’ x Old Mother Ghani ‘Afghani’) – Headie Gardens) which has been sold out everywhere else for a while now. They just reopened. You have to request an account before you can place an order and you have to mail in cash I believe. On the upside, Bohdi packs are all $45 each this month.

I used ILGM when I started out and the only seeds I had issues with were old seeds another grower sent me that they didn't get to. I grew their Northern Lights, White Widow, Durban Poison, Gold Leaf, AK-47, OG Kush, and Purple Haze (all fem seeds) and never had a seed not pop or grow to completion. My method was to keep them in water, on a heat mat set to 76°, until the seed had a taproot (some took over 24 hours) and then they went into root riot plugs pushed into soil in a solo cup. BTW, if you have germination issues then contact them and they will replace the seeds for you. I know ILGM gets a bad rap on a lot of forums but I've honestly never had one issue with their product. I personally think most of the negative reviews they get are from people who have never bought a seed off of them who just think they are overpriced seeds for what they are...which is basically bulk seeds from Spain being resold as their own.

Guess any "Bank" can get bad reviews - ILGM remember when they atarted - never orderd from them - they do have a very good "reference's" about specific topic's ( growing, banks, ect) BUt never no issues with "Attitude Seed" and D.C. Seed and Weed Guardian Family Tree - at the present thess are my go to banks (been sending cash to all now for years)(NO records of transitaction at least with banks)

There are always plenty of idiots out there who give bad reviews of pretty much every seed bank. I've seen people on Reddit report a 0% germ rate with ILGM who honestly seemed to believe the issue was with the seeds and not their germination method.

talking about germination if not do right NO germination -- took som time before I found a method that works for me (paper towel method dam-near 100%) seemed when I soaked beans in water (glass of) poor rate for me - so some that give reviews of germination might not know /or found a method that works for them --have killed a few seeds before !!!

Yup, there doesn't seem to be one solid method, but more like methods that seem to work for different people. I'm the opposite of you...I had horrible results with the paper towel method but have really solid germination rates soaking in a cup of water then straight to plugs or soil once the tap root pokes out.

Hopefully there is a 3rd option, because I've tried both methods. So far my best results are with my OP's method, but even then with my current ILGM seeds I'm probably at <60% germ rate. Probably me... dunno, maybe I got the wrong brand of bottled water ?? that would be my luck. What brand yall use? I wonder... maybe my ladies only drink Fiji?

Honestly, this is probably the most popular method in use.

Only thing I could add is make sure the paper towel isnt sopping wet. I usually wet the paper towel completely and then wring it out until it’s evenly damp. Damp enough it won’t dry out, but not so damp that it’s saturating the seed too much

No experience with them neither, but @Gentlemancorpse @AeroGanja there’s Underground Seeds Collective (French guys) that have been working a lot of landraces, including the Mango Biche. They were selling their work through Sannie’s and Alchimiaweb I think. I’m not in contact with them anymore but can send them a message if it’s needed!
Sorry for hijacking the thread!

Love USC's work but the only place with their beans in stock that I know of is Sannie's, and then only the Nepalma and Turkish are in stock. Their site has said "WE WILL BE BACK IN OCTOBER WITH BLACK AFGHANI & DOUBLE JAM" for a few months now. Haven't checked Alchimia because they don't ship here.

I also echo the general sentiment that ILGM isn't really worth it. They seem geared towards attracting new growers, not heads that know and care about genetics.

I use RO water for germinating seeds. If you are having issues then test the pH of the water. If I recall correctly seeds will germinate better in water that is around 5.8 - 6.0 pH.
