Iso +salt water

Any one use the saturated salt water to remove impurity’s from iso oil before removing the iso?
Just ran into this tec. Tried it out, yep it does remove some junk and totally separates. After this you boil off the iso and remove salt water quick water rinse. Then rewet with ethanol and freeze so waxes can be filtered. Boil off ethanol and you have a pretty clean/purified oil.
I’ll be giving this a go with some Kief.

What's up Turp, good to see ya mang.
Never heard of that method, interested to see how it goes for you, and the results of it.

Hey Jesse hope all is well.

I had some iso that I used to wash hash bags. Dumped in some saturated salt water and shook it up. It fully mixed and left some salt at the bottom then slowly separated into 2layers. There was some wax looking stuff in the salt water layer so it did look like it did remove some crap. I boiled off the iso through a condenser saving it. Then gave the oil a pure water rinse then dumped in some ethanol. Currently sittig in the femrezer letting some more crap coagulate. Then filter.
This was the iso saltwater soak. This has been sitting for a few years o may be past it prime but good to practice on. The fish scale looking stuff is the junk.

So then would that purified oil with the waxes removed be considered "winterized" and be used in a hash pen type use? Is that what I'm understanding as the goal for it?

Ya maybe eventually. I don’t really know anything about the pens or what they use as carriers. I have a vacuum pump just need a bunchener funnel.

One tip that I can mention.
Isopropyl is excellent for use with topical or edibles. If you plan on smoking or vaping, please just use ethanol. Food grade, not denatured.

Methanol is great for winterizing, but cones with its own challenges.

I've been making vape pens for nearly 9yrs now. Ethanol (food grade) wash biomass at cryo temps. Spin off ethanol to recover ethanol. Recover ethanol in a rotovap. Decarb "crude" on hotplaye pr bf used in the next step (short path distillation). Run decarbd crude thru spd. Pay close attention to your flask changes to avoid contamination of mains flask with heads and lower quality tails. It's an art, but there are tricks.

I've never heard of salt washes before. You can degum with multiple washes.
