I'm going to piss some people off by saying this, but IMO Kingbrite LED's are still the best bang for your buck. I just completed a DIY build utilizing SM561C strips and it was still 30%+ more expensive to build it myself versus had I bought a Kingbrite. I'm not complaining, the DIY light kicks ass, but so does the Alibaba light that I paid 70 cents per watt to buy (fully assembled).
+1 I'mNew Here so I guess I'll Jump In the Fire right Now......

I Run KingBrite's……………. and Love them...…… Yes I'm new to indoor and have only had mine for 1 full run and almost a 2nd..... so about 6 months.....

Hey Ya'll! Got a very noob question for you. Im looking to make the HID to LED jump. If I'm running 600w of HID, do I need 600w of LED to be comparable? I'm assuming no since its so much more efficient. so, like....If i'm looking to replace 600w of MH lighting in my veg room, about how many LED watts would I need?

Or, to save y'all some time answering my noobery, do you reccomend any websites that explain this like I was a 4th grader with a head injury? Thanks.

If it's a quality led you can assume about half to two thirds depending what your comparing it to.
I built a 414 watt led rig for a friend to replace his 1000 watt hps single ended.
This is in a 3x3 tent btw
Says it grows just as well, and finishes up to a week sooner. Runs way cooler though.
Was 3000k 97 cri with lots of deep reds etc, flower specific built.

www.ledgardener.com is a great place to get info. You can replace a 600W hid with 400W (true watts) of LED. The chinese light manufacturers are notorious for "fluffing" numbers on the outside of the box. The actual draw is the number you want to be mindful of. Are you interested in building your own light or just purchasing a plug n play light to use right out of the box?

Yep, those real watt numbers are where it's at.
And it has to have a decent footprint as well.
I see alot of the lights that have the leds to close creating hot spots, and limiting footprint and coverage.

Thanks!! I am more interested in building my own, I'd always prefer to do a little more work and save some money. I have a 4x4 and a 4x8 space, in addition to my little seedling shelf, and a 2x4 I am drying in, but I may just convert a big ass storage closet or something similiar so I can be throwing pollen in that 2x4. So I'm trying to replace 2 600w Apollo Ballasts and a 1000w Purple Reign apollo ballast. I actually really liked the Purple Reign, but they stopped making it. digital, had like 10 differtn settings, ran well. I think my oldest 600w is dying, it just doesnt seem to be performing like it used to. So thats my situation. I'd say that the flower tent is probably priority now that I think about it, with the summer temps heading our way, i'd like to cut down on heat in there first. Now I'm just stoned and thinking out loud on the internet. Thanks again for all y'alls input.

I build a fair number of them, and have helped many other folks get their build on too. Happy to help with any of it you need mang. Its all fun to me.
Imho I'd go with 400 real watts or so for each 600. and in the 600-700 ish range to replace the 1000 you're running for that size area. Dimmers for sure.
In my 4x8.5 I have 4 diff fixtures running, total 1595 real watts. Helps me alot to have the ability for random adjustment for varied height plants in my situation.

I'm really digging my HLG R spec 320 watt 3 board fixtures. I started with one. Loved it so much I got another. First one came from led light depot, great customer service. Second one came straight from HLG because I found a online coupon
Just picked one up locally myself, got a pretty decent deal on it I think. So how did you wire this up? I am kinda electric illiterate lol any help would be appreciated.
