Gum Wrapper Grows
I built my strip lights back in 2017, and, thankfully, haven't had to look back, as far as replacing anything. Unfortunately, that also means I haven't had to research the tech since.
I think the diodes at the moment were the Samsung LM561Cs?, With the next ones coming out at or near the time.

The ones I have are still running pretty strong for now. There's probably 10 or 15 diodes out of about 1400 that aren't firing. They were in storage for about a year of those almost 6 yrs I had them, and I'm about to do some reconfiguration to make them fit their areas better, but overall, they still do well.

But...If I was in the market to build myself new lights, probably out of strips, which diode or strip model would I be wanting to look at nowadays??

Everyone still running Meanwell drivers, or has another brand become more popular?

Don't look back Mac.
Shit ain't broke, don't fix it.
Meanwells , and BXEB gen 1 still burning strong here.

But since you brought it up, it's high time I go on a lengthy, hairsplitting, Octopart-data sheet goosechase in search of gaining 2-3% efficacy. I'll report back when I sober up.

Well, shit, that’s good news, my man! I’ll let you do the dirty work for the details to satisfy your curiosity ?
I was just curious if we’d come leaps and bounds since then, or if people are shaving away at efficiency numbers slowly. My strips are the old single row, 22" "Samsung" 561c strips from Ali Baba. Dunno how authentic they are, (never scoped diodes) but they’ve been well worth their money. I know they have double and triple row strips though too.
I thought I’d read something about a higher end driver than Meanwell becoming more popular / available, but I’m glad people are still using the MWs.

I’m running a 480 (something something) for flower, and 240 (something) for veg.
I’ve got ideas for reconfiguring / rebuilding the lights that I’m pretty excited about, until I can build new ones.

Gonna rebuild the veg light in the next couple days, but the flower one is gonna take help from someone with a 3D printer. I think it’ll be a pretty cool design, if for a niche market. I’m a vert grower, and built my lights with that in mind.
Sometimes people change their minds though, so I came up with an idea for a convertible LED fixture that could be run horizontal or vertical.
It’ll be a minute til I can get an aluminum prototype built, but eventually, I hope to have it 3D printable, as I said.
Actually, now that it’s getting nicer out, I may try to get the flower light done after the veg lights. It’s just a lot of tedious cutting and grinding aluminum angle iron.
I’m so happy to be using LEDs again- it’s been Flouros and a 1k for the last year...
...it’ll be even nicer to build shiny new ones though!

Whelp, finally got them done lol Affirm found the guy not liable for leaving out the cords, connectors, and some wires but they also haven't taken my money either so... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Following up on this, they reconsidered and found it in my favor, getting a full refund a year and some change later.

I would've never escalated had the guy not given me the run around and eventually the cold shoulder, I feel vindicated lol
