But why!?

My results with HID are just better and Im no longer fighting heat issues like I was in my last spot. That was the only reason I built the led lights -the cost reduction to run em was just a perk. The increase in power consumption is small price to pay for the better results I get from HID. LED cant begin to compare in penetrating deep in the canopy like an HID either. Both have their plus/minus points but I feel the HID do better for me vs. the LED in overall performance.

This topic appeared at precisely the right time. I went and hugged my HIDs moments a quarter hour after they shut off.

The two little Mars I got will however be a big step up from the CFLs. Might likely get 2 more.

If I were in the USA i would snatch them up...i love cobs. Cobs grow almost as well as HID and they penetrate more than boards....but if you alter your grow style to the light penetration they all work....even these weird 6500k flood lights i got.

But for real the HPS is running this winter...i just need short plants with low stretch to make it work.

This PSA brought to you by Monkey Juice....my GOD man what have you done.....A brain hammer with no velvet.

What exactly do you mean by altering your grow style for cobs.?

HID is easy...just let it grow. Cobs and Boards require better canopy management to prevent problems (and the lowers dont really amount to much anyway). Lowers and under 10k luix stuff can contribute to intersex (stress).. HID in my space is 15k on the ground. So its the lazy gardeners best friend.

But with cobs, net it up and you can yield very well same as boards but i find cobs are easier.

That happened with the last fems I ran. I had them under my 2 qb and didnt manage the canopy. The lowers were very very dimly lit and 13 days after flip they threw nuts everywhere. I have to keep fan leaves trimmed on all plants under those lights so I don't get that low light problem. I lux tested on the floor under a big fan leaf with the dimmers at 50%. Lights are 24 inches above the canopy. I was only reading 1257 lux under that leaf lol.

I'm not really having that lack of penetration problem you guys talk about.
I just finished a grow with 8-7ft tall plants indoors. I removed no fan leaves or any vegitation for that matter and i had frosty nugs 4 feet in the canopy.
I ran 5 qb 288's over the 3ft x 8ft canopy, i guess thats kinda lot of light though but honestly I'll be able to use everything harvested for something.
And usually if i see intersex flowers appear they are usually in the top half of the plants when it happens. I've always figured it was from oversaturation of lighting. And i use a very large soil ball which keeps root balls cool.
100 grows, a 100 differant outcomes.

Edit;
Again, sorry for the hijack Red!
