I thought some of you might enjoy reading this link as it answers some of your musings:
I always get a kick out of seeing (Rosenthal, 1991) in a scientific paper

Reading that really brought a lot of memories back. Pretty much what I have learned is written in a different language lol, that is okay too- I don't really like English anyways.

The highlight of the study for me, was the Space Queen and coincidences aren't something in my worldview. Ironically enough I was thinking about some really "Dank" crosses I tested years ago all tainted by the "Dude" a random pack male used exclusively by TGA origanlly even though not all of Vic's work was herm prone in this classic mix.

I have had to do a lot of work to stabilize the few choice things I kept of this for myself and it was not as hard to stabilize as one might think ?- but that's a exponential power (Manidoo) only found within a male !

Anybody else tired of the pollen chucks being listed in mass crossings without any photos of even one plant ffs ? Seems like a good way to find out that taking pollen (Reg/Fem) to 12 + females isn't something that should be marketed EVER. Those should be a breeders private test in the first place! Not sold blindly due to the hyperbole marketed towards inexperienced growrs ?

Yeah, but there's a contingent of growers who want that stuff for whatever reason. It's the same high as gambling, trying to find "your own pheno" in a pack I guess. Honestly wouldn't mind if they were like $30/pack and honestly marketed.... but they often aren't.

Once you have a pack you have the lineage of whatever they bred. I've done that with Bodhi and a few others. Just do an open table pollination of regulars or the same open table with a pack of fems reversing one or two females. After harvest you can germinate as many beans as you like and start sorting through the genetics. Similar to PCR on a macro scale, first you amplify your genetics.

Yeah, absolutely! But I know all the guys at the hydroshop near me are all into whatever the hypest clone only strain is crossed to some random male and they'll happily pay $200 a pack for it, then hunt through it for a pheno they think is unique even if it means dealing with unstable genetics. So I can't fault seed companies for capitalizing on that... but I'd rather do it the way you suggest

That works too. You just need to be willing to invest some time in stabilizing or work from clones from your favorite pheno. It's hard to go wrong with cannabis. It has so much potential.
