Loud DANK Strains

Hey all:

So I'm curious; If you were to make a list of the most pungent strains you've ever seen, what would be your top list?

Now, I've actually had some strains that had a super sweet smell, but were capable of being sniffed from across the room, so I guess that would count, though sometimes I kind of think of "stank" when I think pungent, but I'm learning that isn't always the case. The Skywalker from last season is incredibly easy to smell, but it's sweet like Blueberry jam and doesn't "stink" but it's easy to smell to say the least.

So what would be the top most easy to smell strains you have ever encountered ?

I'll start:

#1. Blue Cheese! (Whew shocking huh??) Blue Cheese is easily my top, as I have yet to find a strain that is capable of muting it's scent. Last season I had Motor Breath, that Skywalker mentioned, and Chem D, and Grease Monkey ALL growing right by it, and you couldn't even smell the others without putting your face right into the buds. Easily something you can notice from a lot farther than just across the room, as my mom was standing outside one day and could smell it from the very back.

#2. Motor Breath. Motor Breath is pungent and incredibly strong on the nose. Been growing this two years now, and had friends say they could smell it inside the bag from another room LOL. I guess that's what happens when you take Chemdog and SFV OG Kush and breed them haha.

#3. GMO. GMO is incredibly easy to smell. From the other side of the house..... I remember last year walking out of the bedroom and instantly smelling PUNGENT Garlic..... Wonderful strain, Hope the seeds I'm popping get me a Female to say the least LOL.

#4 Skywalker. I have to admit I'm surprised at how easy to sniff this one is; It's not that Earthy / Mushroom like scent with Blueberries mixed in like the clone the seeds came from was; It seemed to lean HEAVY into it's Blueberry parental lineage this passed season, and the smell of VERY strong sweet Blueberry jam just permeates from the bag.

#5 Grease Monkey. Very easy to smell when you open a jar of it. The smell is REALLY similar to Motor Breath when you're burping it.

I'll stop here for now, but if you were going to make a list, what are the most pungent nose sledge hammers you've ever been around?

I think everything I’ve run with Chem D in has brought notes of garlic and or mothballs to some extent, even if she’s a grandparent, but I’ve never run the D cut itself.
GMO was funky of course, but it even comes through in Pillow Book, a purple strain by Bodhi with the D as a grandmother on the fathers side.
The dankest stuff I’ve run that stands out n fond memories are from when I was getting my first cuts, years ago.
The unspecified "Chemdog" that reeked of lemon and gasoline...I know it wasn’t D, so I’ve been looking for 91 since, for comparison.
Had an NL5 that reeked of pine and skunk. A chick at work tried to get me fired after we rode the elevator with it in my pocket. Now that I think of it, my boss told me to turn around and put weed back in my car a few times there lol
Same workplace, I had a Grape Ape bagseed bud in a cigarette pack, in a coat pocket, in a 3 flight stairwell, and it stunk like skunk from the ground up to the 3rd floor, where the coat was.
That was one of those situations where it was like you say, fruity first, or up close, but funky if it breathes for a minute. All grape / skunk.
LA Confidential was funky.
Chocolope was loud as hell fruity, like straight juicy fruit gum.
Strawberry Diesel was almost equally strawberry and diesel. Loved it
They were never claimed as certain named cuts of said strains, but they seemed to check the descriptions of most of the famous cuts I’ve read about since.
Wish I still had all those strains I was blessed with back then!
Thankfully, there’s always new strains to hunt through for the next favorite thing...

80's early 90's skunk...

Son of a ..... See I've never actually gotten to smoke that; I mean "Theoretically" I've loved it a few times in the form of UK Cheese, but I've never had Skunk #1, or any other Skunk that actually smelled like a Skunk. I feel like I'd love it given ....You know how I am with Cheese LOL.

I think everything I’ve run with Chem D in has brought notes of garlic and or mothballs to some extent, even if she’s a grandparent, but I’ve never run the D cut itself.

Oh bro! I have enjoyed Chem D for a second year now and it's like high up there in terms of all time favorite strains! Soon to be Father in Law got two clones of it last season, and when it was done I got a jar of it. In that jar I got some seeds which I used to sprout a seedling of it, and I'm legit almost out LOL. I only had one plant but I filled multiple jars with it, and at first I had trouble describing the smell, until one day I realized "burnt rubber". No Mothballs on mine, but it was straight up burnt rubber and.... Pencil shavings?

I've got seeds of it soaking right now for this season too, I LOVE it. The smell of Burnt Rubber is almost gone, and now it's more like a lemony Pine Sol smell going on, maybe a little creamy / milky ? Totally wonderful strain.

GMO was funky of course, but it even comes through in Pillow Book, a purple strain by Bodhi with the D as a grandmother on the fathers side.

Yeah GMO is just a treasure LOL. I got to try it last year and out of two bags I got just over 20 seeds, 5 of which are now soaking. It was done pretty well in my opinion; REALLY pungent Garlic smell, and then after it was busted up a little, it was like pungent Garlic, a bit of earthy / mushroom smell, and then cooked in butter onions..... When I was younger and someone would be frying up onions in butter, the smell I remember from that is not unlike what I could smell and taste in that GMO. Smoking it was back to a mainly garlic note, but all in all I LOVED that.

Yeah any Chem cross is high on my favorites list. For some reason every time I smoke a strain that has Chemdog in the parental lineage I end up loving it! I don't have any sadly, though I did get to try the Chem '91 last year, but I don't think it was well done as it didn't have much in terms of pungency so I imagine it was just how it was done. I want to give it another chance, but I'd probably rather just wait until I can track down seeds or a clone. I'd be surprised if the '91 had a gassy thing going on, though it did have a Lemony thing as I recall?

Oh that sounds pleasing :)

LA Confidential was funky.
Chocolope was loud as hell fruity, like straight juicy fruit gum.

I've been hearing about LA Confidential for years, but never actually had a crack at it. I think I did have a Chocolope last year but it was like a single pre-roll so I can't really remember how it was.

Strawberry Diesel was almost equally strawberry and diesel. Loved it

Yeah I do enjoy Strawberry Diesel; A friend of ours has Lupus, and that's like her favorite strain, and the dude she gets it from gave her a bag one day and there were two seeds in it! One I apparently lost like a moron, but the other sprouted into a female, and I took a clone off that. Sadly it was topped, so the first storms we had after it was flowering destroyed half the plant I took the clone from.... I was pretty impressed with the bud size on it, and now I know "don't fucking top it outside!" LOL. The half of the plant that snapped off in a storm.... I didn't wanna waste all that so it got trimmed and hung, and then the rest went with it, but there was ONE jar of it that was just beautiful! It wasn't like the Skywalker, where it was Blueberry jam VS Fresh Blueberries, it was like, fresh strawberries, and spicy! Very nice all around :)

Yeah I know what you mean; I'm the exact same way with Cookies..... YEARS ago a friend of mine came up and had some Girl Scout Cookie, and it was SO good! Tasted like those Sugar Cookies people get at Christmas time with the frosting on them, and all around was just well done and wonderful!

I have literally never seen that again.... The other Cookie strains I've tried have been..... Well they're better than nothing, but, only just LOL. I have a complicated relationship with Cookies simply because of that ONE memorable bag that I haven't ever managed to find again, and at this point, I'm probably done looking LOL. From what I've heard the bag I smoked from was not only done right, but with seeds that may no longer exist even which, sucks, but at least someone had the WONDERFUL idea to cross that with Chemdog so we can have GMO :) LOL.

Nasty lol, it brings fruity funk. Sure some like it tho , like rotten banana peels.

Oh man that's interesting! Even with the amount of "funk" I've sniffed personally, I end up being amazed at the strange and bizarre scents that plants manage to have LOL.

One of the preservation runs on here had me a little blown away when I was told it smelled like "BO and Onions" LOL.
