Hunters, sharpen your lenses, :weedleaf: it’s time to zoom in.

We’re kicking off January with:

Macro Mayhem — Trichome & Detail Challenge

Whether you’re rocking a jeweler’s loupe, a smartphone macro lens, a DSLR, or a USB microscope, this is your moment to capture the tiny worlds hiding in your garden. Frost, resin heads, pistils, stomata, if it’s microscopic and mesmerizing, we want to see it.

This contest is open to all skill levels, and the focus is simple:
Show us the beauty that most growers never get to see.

You can win in any of the following categories

  • For the most jaw‑dropping, resin‑packed macro.
  • For the shot that reveals the finest microscopic structures.
  • For the most beautifully lit, naturally captured macro.
  • Guess the strain or lineage of anonymous entries and prove your detective skills.
Winners will take home a mix of gear, seeds, and digital glory, including:
  • High‑quality jeweler’s loupe or Smartphone macro lens attachment
  • pHenohunter Slaps
  • Seed pack (1–2 packs)
  • Featured spotlight on Instagram
  • Custom “Macro Master” title (in the works)

Rules

  1. Be a active member of pHenohunter.
  2. Have an active journal on pHenohunter.
  3. Post your best macro photo in the contest thread.
  4. Include a title and optional description (equipment, lighting, strain).
  5. If you want to participate in the Macro Mystery Solver Contest, mark your entry as ANONYMOUS and do not reveal the strain.
  6. Light editing is allowed (crop, exposure, color correction).
  7. No AI‑generated or AI‑enhanced images.
Entries will be judged on:
  • Clarity & focus
  • Detail & sharpness
  • Lighting & composition
  • Creativity
  • Technical difficulty
Judging will be a mix of panel scoring (50%) and community voting (50%).

Tie‑breakers go to the entry with the highest technical difficulty.
  • Contest Opens: Today
  • Submission Deadline: End of the month
  • Voting Week: First week of next month
  • Winners Announced: After voting has closed
Macro photography is one of the most fun and accessible ways to show off your grow. You don't need a fancy camera, just curiosity, creativity, and a steady hand.

This contest is a great way to:
  • Learn new photography techniques
  • Study your plants more closely
  • Connect with other growers
  • Show off your frosty work
  • Win some killer prizes
Drop your photo in the contest thread, and let the trichomes speak for themselves.

Good luck, hunters, may your trichomes be frosty and your focus razor‑sharp.

Let the Macro Mayhem begin.

This is what I've been waiting for. I have a 1000x USB scope I've been wanting to use and now I have purpose to use it. I just need a tripod or something to hold it steady because nerve damage has me pretty shaky. I'll find something special in the microworld of my plants.

I have 2 stands for these USB scopes. I can send you one of you like? Just take care of shipping.

i believe this is a Cuban Black Haze x Triangle Kush that i hunted, it starts off as a mettalic spicy haze that switches to pure basement church incense and piff after a couple weeks in a jar. No jack what so ever. and believe it or not, the TK brought the finish time down to 8 week, gave it the triangle structure that yields and brought down the stretch to almost nothing, its resistant to mold, and still maintains a super sativa, blood pressure raising HIGH.

to be clear, this wasnt finished yet at the time of this picture, but points to why getting the trichs scoped is important. the hairs made it seem like she was further along than the trichs show

no special equipment just a cheap usb microscope from amazon
