Making oil for edibles

I make canna butter in a rice cooker. Water keeps it from burning. (Coconut oil is easier to work with than butter.)
I’m still discovering new ways to reduce waste but processing still claims about 15% after second melt & cheesecloth filtration.

dino is right too...do it longer and ensure infusion.

I use an ardent FX...i decarb....push the button to infuse and fill it with oil and 1 hour 45 its done.

I would give up every other machine before you clawed the FX from my cold dead hands...its worth every penny.

Whatcha mean by the 15%? Sorry. Like the final butter product is 15% thc content? So like each oz of butter has 4.2 grams of thc in it?
I’m talking about oil in vs oil out.
Some stays trapped in the material & cheesecloth, even after pressing & squeezing.

Holding back some oil to add at the end of the processing can dilute the remainder so total cannabinoids lost is less.

Does that make sense?

Everything except the last line. I don’t understand how adding new oil can make the loss less? Unless I’m reading that wrong. Let me go back and start at the beginning lol. Thanks for trying to help me!

I think you’re saying add more oil to return it to the original volume before infusing? Do you run that extra oil through your material too?

Making coconut oil infused:Do loweest temp and 4+ hours ( longer The better and lowest temp)

its np and works great in a magic butter or similar brand. I can fit np 4-6 oz’s of pre-grinded buds ( I use my small buds without stem for that )

than 1 batch after making this can make me my 4-8 weeks of ( most too the time 4-5 weeks ) of gummies with coconut oil = 3ish Batches per 4 oz’s and coconut ( 1 jello made gummi bears box batch last me =1-2 weeks)

oldg tut on making gummi bears

I use all bulk ingredients and the trick

1 cup water
3/4 cup coco oil (sometimes i push this to 1 cup).
7 oz flavored jello
1 1/4 oz gelatin (platinum bulk powder)
1 rounded tsp citric acid
1 rounded tsp guar gum
1 rounded tsp sunflower lethicin.

put oil in pot....put lethicin....sieve the lethciin into the oil and mix...add the water and bring to a boil and then back off the heat to low.

add the other ingredients and mix at an almost boil for 10 minutes.

pour into molds sets up in the freezer in about 15.

work like a CHAMP !!”

that is pretty much where my recipe ended up as well. Using both guar AND lethicin can get 1 cup to 1 cup. And it stays in the candy not a weird crunchy coco oil layer :)

It does work like a champ

Oil floats so I pull most of it out with a ladle before straining.
Then I add the clean oil to the slurry, bring it up to a boil, then filter as usual.

So the oil lost is now half strength even though the volume is the same.
-- edit --
It's hard to visualize the process.
One cool trick is pushing a small strainer down into the slurry before using a ladle to grab the oil.

It's only at the very end that I actually scoop out the plant material and smash it into a strainer with a big spoon.
