Making Oil

What kind of formula's and methods are out there amongst us? My old stand by was 1 oz to 1 cup of oil. I'm using an ardent now, but I used pyrex and the oven forever before I ponied up for the machine. I think strong consistent oil is important in edibles and in the dosing of those same edibles. That said I went out of my consistency loop today and infused 2 cups of oil with 72 g's weed .....going a little stronger than usual. I also may take 1 cup and re-infuse it to make it yet stronger. I used vegetable oil this round as I don't care for the coconut oil re-infused. Also baked goods come out better with reg oil imo. The other thing I like about veggie oil is that it is always liquid and much easier to use in the kitchen that way. Want a little oil and vinegar on that italian combo.......well there ya go. Aside from getting an ardent my other tip is after draining your oil soaked weed.....put the spoil in a ziploc bag, close and cut a corner off the bottom......you can now pastry bag/tourniquet the ever loving shit out of that spoil and get most your oil out. And getya some sieves too.
Oil today , gummies tomorrow, and butter cookies soon ho,ho,ho :)

What's in your oil?

Bump.
I tried the small ardent and then went to the bigger one. The choice of oil is important for meds. There is no way wifey will allow vegetable oil in the house! We only have coconut or olive for dressing. I'm going to try the red palm oil soon as it can be heated to high temps and not oxidise. Definitely worth looking into the rabbit hole that is vegetable oil and inflammation.

Being a former chef, and working in restaurants for 32yrs, 99% of all restaurants use veg oil, olive oil, peanut oil, and avocado oil on the line for cooking. So if you go out to eat, chances are certain items of your meal are cooked with a vegetable oil.

I've been through that rabbit hole. There are positives and negatives to all of the oils. I try and not get hung up on the minutia between the oils on paper, or jump on any band wagons. Keeping in mind the ultimate dosages. uses, realities or exposures......The health differences are negligible, but the practical, hands on differences are real.

That's true. Vegetable oil has a long usage history. In my gummies, a set of 44 @ 200 mg takes 1/2 cup of oil........that's 1/176th of a cup. Nobody gonna die from that amount of oil. I'm more leary of oils that are solid at room temperature. Most of them do not re-infuse that great. Taste like Yak when infused the 2nd time. I If you want good tasting baked goods, vegetable oil tastes pretty good. Plenty of olive oil and coconut oil here, but butter cookies taste like shit with olive oil and the health difference between one and the other is practically non existent, in those dosages.
