So my 4x2 SCROG is starting to get a little yellowing and fading, a little mottling and some burnt tips and burnt leaf edges. Shittttt lol!
I forgot how much BioThrive likes to drive pH down, and I should have maybe been a few 100ppm lower with my constant fertigation. usually stick around 400-450ppm when using BioThrive or other organic bottled nutes, but was I pushing with an average of 600ppm every watering.
I tested the runoff, and she was 2.8-2.9 EC and 5.6-5.7 pH. So it's safe to assume the soil is both a little 'sour' and a little 'hot'.
But she's still perky and gaining, so I'm backing off and just giving her Hygrozyme, Nature's Candy and HydroGuard for the next while.
The big tent is coming along, but I think I actually may have impacted overall yield with the issues I had with drainage earlier. And shortly after that, I bumped up my nute strength, only to find out my TDS pen was several hundred ppm out, reading low. The FlowerBomb Kush and the LSD didn't like that and stalled and flat topped a bit. This LSD specimen I have has shown a tendency to toss out hermie nanners when the medium is too hot, which it did.
Slightly burnt calyx tips along with the leaf tips. I'll get her dialed in next round. The Triple Cheese doesn't seem to have been affected as badly though.
So I'm hoping for 1.3-1.5 gpw in this tent, anything over that I will consider a bonus.
It's doing well considering the very short veg time this tent had.

I looked at my calibration fluid bottle and noticed it still had a perfect unbroken seal and thought, "hey I better test this" lmao!!
I hadn't tested it in some time....at least since my last bottle ran out.

So I was getting a little concerned with my 4x4 spare veg tent. All the clones were taken from flowering plants, my mom situation was rather skimpy at the time and I wanted to get a new batch going.
For some reason, they just did not want to revert back, the stalks remaining a deep blood purple with new shoots still having curled, mutant tips.
I am not sure if it was the 600W kit (3000K w/660nm) I had above them before this Kingbrite 480W 4000K was installed.....maybe bringing the color temp to 4000K instead of 3000K w/660nm made the difference. I dunno. The new shoots are coming in mostly normal now though.
I don't think it was anything to do with the medium or the nutes making them stay stupid, as my other tent has several that reverted very quickly. Pure perlite in all the buckets. Exact same nute mix between tents. So it makes me think maybe it was the light spectrum keeping them from reverting, because this entire tent stayed stuck on stupid, while the other tent did not.
It looked like someone swapped my cannabis plants out for pepper plants for a little while there lol
So my plan of nice even topped, 8 shoots on each plant may be out the window but I'll see if I can't keep a nice even canopy with some LST.
I think may stay away from taking clones in flower for a while after this haha!

I should add. I noticed leaf tip burn on all the Hempy plants, despite being only at ~850ppm, but I initially chalked it up to the drainage and H2S gas buildup issue I had which would have an excess of Sulphur going on. But I also later noticed calyx tip burn on the FlowerBomb Kush,
and hermies on the LSD,
at the same time they both had a die off of pistils and they stopped shooting out new ones.
The LSD in the other tent is only 1 day behind this tent, and it's buds are still continuing to fill in and pop new pistils......
The bottle seal not being broken was more of the kick in the butt, like, "get it done, jackass" lol

You’ve convinced me to order some calibration solution, i don’t know why i never even thought to buy any for the tds meter. My meter hasn’t read above 450ppm since I’ve changed the batteries and i KNOW with everything i’m adding it’s atleast at 600 on my weak mixes and 750-800 on the stronger ones. I probably caused a few hermies with too strong nute mixes.

Yeah it's worth it even just for peace of mind. No point having a ppm or pH meter if it's reading wrong You don't need to do it as often as pH I don't think. They seem to stay accurate longer. But I waited way, waaaaaaay too long lol!
LSD is my "canary in the coal" mine usually. It's fussy. Wonderful strain, but finicky sometimes. It's usually the first to indicate something is wrong.

So I took down all the plants in the large tent,
and I took all the largest tops off the medium tent. I'm letting the lowers in the medium tent get another week or more of light while the next plants are vegging a bit.
The SCROG tent will be another 2 weeks I think.

I've been fighting hard calcium laced water in BC for my entire growing journey. It's just a fact of life here.
I've debated on RO and filters and such but I thought I'll give their "Hard Water" blend a shot as I need to keep a micro blend stocked anyways. And I'm renting this place I'm living in up here, so installing something I may have to remove again, and just general maintenance, are holding me back from going with filtration.
I got the 250ml Royal Gold Flowering Catalyst as the free gift, all with free shipping, which I imagine wouldn't be cheap when your products are fertilizers.
