no dissing just suggestion as a grower ( not that)

If it was me why it foliar spray for more broad intake and faster ?

foliar spraying such would also guratee the whole map of the plant would absorb the nutritions more quickly and may recover some of those falling leafs?

im no opium grower but as a general look at a general plant that’s what I would suggest and even a combo or everything so the plant will be intaking no matter what ur medium is doing on intake (micro’s and npk) via foliar

for example a good brew: silica + fish emulsion + kelp + humic/fulvic acid + yucca + em1 + alfalfa + cal/mag nitrate + aloe or white while bark or aspirin (1 pill per gallon )

that combo listed above would give any general plant if foliar sprayed every 7-14 days more resistant to pest, molds, heat , more intaked on most insolvable nutes/micro like calcium and force the plant to recover the leafs and plant before deciding it will just fall the leafs as a sacrifice f-r energy . Once you got the products it would be no only cheap and efficient on majority of plants and plants love foliar sprays

2nd option for foliar and drench as a booster/help is PS Seagreen , why? = it’s a all in one highly concentrated microbe compost with already your silica ,kelp, fish, yucca, humic and compost and application rate is 1ml, it’s so strong on anti salt bacteria and intaker bacteria you can def reduce your nutes by 25-35% and key is to ph before u add seagreen or it will rebalance to before u added it, it’s a salt/nute eating bacteria and those issues won’t be such once applying.

many benefits and majority of cannabis related products I would not recommend and recommend the big ag version, not this one and I would vouch for it anyday

This is an unwon battle even outdoors with these flowers.
Only differance is outdoors the colors are more gray and purple on the dead/dying leaves. Any kind of water or spray "will" cause powdery mildew on the leaves, anything other than rain water just messes with them.
The light tan colors are the only dominate colors I'm seeing indoors.
I've fed them regularly inside and out with these results.

Would the medicine be extracted before it flowers?
No, you would want them to bloom and be pollinated fully. Then they will begin to swell into larger globes, this is the best time to harvest for medicine. Latex or tea, latex you harvest while still on the plant while for tea you can harvest and steep green though dried ground pods make for a great tea.

I keep forgetting about the shrubs, they are finally starting to grow a bit.
I've tried these for quite a few years and always have been a fail. Seed availability is always questionable it seems when these are involved even from reputable dealers. Dang guberments.
These on the contrary are the best I've gotten. Over 50% germination, I'm used to less than 20% so thats a plus. The ones that have come up are looking better than any others ever had.

Ok, the flowers did ok, each ended up with a decent size pod and i can hear the seeds rattling inside them.
So i would recommend this for someone who has a small need for this type of medicine.
I would suggest larger containers than solo cups, and a regular regiment of nutes. Start at 12/12, a month later to 13/11 and finish up under 24.
In the space of a nursery flat you could expect a dozen pods/doses.

I keep forgetting to get a pic of my shrubs.
They may not look like much, but these little babies are probally my proudest achievement this year.
Now,,,,, if i can just persuade them to flower and set seed.
Last year i was only able to find a couple 20 packs, in the whole world!!!!! WTH! 20210715_114455.jpg 20210715_114434.jpg
I've tried growing these for 10 + years with zero success.
Thes definatley are a species that the environment needs to pretty closley resemble it's mountain deserts.
If ya have any kind of asthma or similar this stuff is the bomb.

Man it's been a LONG time..... when I grew those I didn't get the plants themselves wet at all, because they are essentially like a pure Indica would be in that they enjoy cool and dry. I actually had plants almost flowering get snow on them, and once it melted they went right back to growing. Sometimes I'd say add some sand into the soil so they drain easier, because they don't like it wet or hot really.

Once the flower petals fall off (3 days or so) the "crown" on the top will aim upward and let you know it's now full of Opium. I simply slit the seed pod / bulb and let it ooze and sit in the sunlight (I was stupid and young and grew them outside....) but after a few hours they turn a brown black color, and then it's as easy as grabbing a butter knife to scrape the goo off the pod and you're done. You can continue to make more slits too and get as much out as possible, and then you have multiple options:

If you have some equipment to work with and can extract the alkaloids (Morphine, Codeine, Thebaine) from the sap / resin / Opium, the Codeine you add Hydrogen Peroxide in, and now you have Oxycodone. Depending on how you treat the Morphine you'll get a lot more that way though. Most of the weight is Morphine, which is why the big Pharma people don't bother pulling Codeine out, they just use the Morphine and .... I don't remember anymore how you turn the Morphine into Codeine, but the Codeine turns back into Morphine in your liver or something like that (O-Methylization? De-methylization? I don't do this anymore and literally can't remember....Last time I flowered these was like 20 years ago when I was about 18).

Skunky I know you make Pickled veggies and whatnot, so be careful with getting that sap on your fingers! Adding heat and Vinegar will turn that into Diacetyl Morphine (Heroin) and that's not good. I can imagine the smell in there when they are flowering.... LOL those DO smell good. I know they say if you get Poppies from the grocery store they won't sprout but that's bullshit in my experience. I've grown it with a grocery store once, and with actual seeds I ordered once and the ones on the shelf at a grocery store, which appear to be what you have here, are Persian Blue, as they "taste" better. There are multiple other strains of Papaver Somniferum though. I never noticed a real difference outside of size though. Then again I barely knew what I was doing.

Anyway, please be careful. As someone who used to be addicted to Heroin, and had knowledge of growing these, it gets rough if you aren't careful. If you make Tea with it, and only use it once or twice a week, you should be fine, but using it multiple days in a row, which is easy when you have a lot, that's where the trouble starts.

as for how I seeded mine back then, LOL literally poured some seeds on top of the soil, much like the plant would have done with the wind (the bulb you collect Opium from eventually will aim back down, and spread seeds in the wind that spread like wildfire!).
