Mega Crop

I've been using Mega Crop V2 for a little while now. Like many, getting the product to fully dissolve required a few additional steps for me. This is the method I've been using that's been working for me.

I mix my nutrients in 5 gallon, large mouth jugs with spigots. I fill an old 1 gallon water jug 1/2-2/3 with water from the 5 gallon jug. I leave the extra space for agitation purposes during the vigorous shaking. I'll add the mega crop to the 1 gallon jug, cap it, and shake vigorously. Think "Shake Weight." I only shake it for about a minute.

Shake Weight.jpg

I'll then pour about 90% of the water (slowly) back into the 5 gallon jug. I say slowly because if you keep the bottom of the 1 gallon jug lower than the pour, the heavier, undissolved matter remains in the bottom of the 1 gallon jug.

Once the pour is complete, I refill the 1 gallon jug 1/2-2/3 again from the same 5 gallon jug. I repeat the "Shake Weight" process to dissolve the last of the remaining undissolved MC.

For me, there isn't anymore undissolved MC in the 1 gallon jug after the second pass and it's good to go.

I've been been working with Megacrop for the last 2 months. Evolving my recipe and unable to draw any clear conclusions.
I've used the Lucas formula for the last few years with great results, but do to the fact that they are owned by an evil Mega corporation (Scotts - Monsanto) I've been trying to get away from General Hydroponics gear.
I've been playing with the ratios and adding nutrients to try and replicate the Lucas Formula.

I'm currently adding to 45 gallons of water
90 ml of Megacrop
15 ml of MKP 0-52-34
10 ml of MAP 12-61-0
100ml of Cal/Mag 1-0-0
50 ml of silica supplement 0-0-4
15 ml of ph down

My ec is 1.5
Ph 5.9 at start which drifts to 6.1 on day 2 and plunges to 5.8 by day 3 and then I refill.

I'm fertigating 3 times daily in a drain to waste system using 75% coco and 25% super course perlite.

So far my buds were way larger with the Lucas Formula, but I'm going to make this work, or mix my own nutrients from scratch.

I poured 2 pounds into 1 quart of water...or something like that...1ml = 30 TDS

I have to shake that thing every time i make a batch of stanky nutes. It keeps in 3 layers...2 levels of silt an brown liquid.

I just wish it stayed held in suspension. :) its in tents...

I also HATE the fact that dont worry trust us it says version 2 but its version 3...:D

Dont panic its not organic! Apparently its vegan though.
@spyralout maybe a new sub-forum is needed? - dry nutrients?

I used V1 because of the amino acid chelation, skipped v2 cause it wasn't, mixed 1st batch of v3 and notice the undisolved stuff looks more like paper than sandy stuff in v1. Did I somehow form a precipitate?

Sounds good. Better organization and efficiency is always a plus. When I get the chance I'll make some moves and announce it on the Site News thread. Thanks for the suggestion @SSGrower ?

- Edit: No need to move the thread, I renamed accordingly:

I like it. Personally I will just dump my tablespoon of it into my can, and start with very hot water, get maybe 2 cups in, and agitate to dissolve. The hot water makes it work pretty quickly. Then I'll just turn on the cold water and it balences out nice and fine by the time my can is filled. dissolves well that way.

Was gonna order a bag of the Megacrap (for the lawn/flowers, not for cannabis) but it appears it is "Out of stock" . (?) (didn't check the "amendments" page)

Makes ya wonder where the materials are sourced. Well...not really....snicker...everything here is Made in the USA...we all know that.... but I've been noticing those 3 words quite a bit lately on other goods so it's gonna be interesting to see what the long term impacts are from all of this.

I know someone a while back posted about finding some chinese writing on a piece of paper found inside the bag of MC. That would make sense what you are saying. I just recently switched over to Jacks 321. To my knowledge everything is sourced in the USA ( but not sure of that)with Jacks. Extremely inexpensive as well.

So... any good reason I shouldn’t amend soil with megacrop?

My uncle farms. Got him into weed growin.. he took a bunch of maxibloom and tilled it into his garden.. I recommended he didn’t and he was like “settle down big guy”
Plants looked amazing all summer and fall off rain water.
Megacrop seems like even less of a bad idea. Anybody try?

I think those prills may actually lend themselves to slow release. Slower is better. Outdoor soil is more biologically active, and posses higher CEC.
Supersoil recipes have granular mono phosphates and kCI grains.
It carries similar components to common veg. garden dry fert’s, they all label broadcasting directions.
Meagercrop may be more quickly available (as an instant food source) with modern fancy chelate’n and stuff.
At any rate,,Worms and time.

The boat must have come in.......... snagged a bag a few days ago. The flowers and the yard will love it. I separate the "balls" out and use those on the lawn...the rest will get used on the flowers.
Weird thing, I couldn't order the smaller amounts from website, so I went to Amazon and got it. They put the 2500g amt in a 1000g bag. Lol. I just seen the measurement, went to calling, they politely told me what they did. Wasn't sure, so I weighed it, they was right, lol. Per the mixing, I'm having good luck pretending it's a med ball, shaking shit out of milk jug. I have been backing off food and a lil longer flush, but I really like the stuff. Jme

I liked the way my plants responded to it on V1 but they kept changing the formula, mislabeled versions, and began adding different things than what was advertised on the website for V3. Not to mention it smells like burnt baby poop :hotpoop:
When it came to mixing, I found the little balls in it dissolved like sugar in luke warm water. Never took me longer than 45 seconds or so to get it to mix 100% in 1 gal jugs, but I was mixing much smaller portions at a time than many are. None the less, if you can get past the things I mentioned, it was a great fertilizer.

Hey, just so y'all know, you can sign up for a program where if you tag them enough and such, you can get 35% off!!! I got an email saying I was accepted into the loyalty program, but it didnt say which level (10 or 35 percent off). So I think I"m gonna try and order if its in stock and see what they say. I need some more sweet candy and I might try some of the bud hardnener if I can get 35 percent off. why not.

35% off sounds great. I know it was very affordable even at full price back when I was getting it.

Don’t do that. It’s meant to stay together.

LOL. Don't tell me what I can/can't do....especially if you've never tried what I'm talking about to know WTF you are talking about. Did it last year on my big girls outside...worked well. Jettisoned most of that HUGE whap of N I didn't want on my cannabis in flower....and used the "bloom" side on them...the N..on the yard. Not using it at ALL on cannabis anymore....going back to full organic.

But it's cheap...and it works well......and it's easily dissected to make a fert with less N. It's called Stoner ingenuity. To think it's not a combo of many ingredients that CAN be used separately means you never looked at their "Amendments" page.
