Meijiu qb from Alibaba

I have been considering upgrading from my Mars sp150 and am considering this:

I can get it for $200 including shipping, seems like a good deal. Anyone have experience with these or thoughts? I am running 135 watts now and figure I’d like to run somewhere around 170 watts in my 20” x 36” tent.

Id just grab another 150 . That's what I use lol. No seriously though I just am not certain on the legitimacy on ali. Can't really speak on it tho cause I never tried but I do know for certain that there are counterfeit 301s and I'd hate to risk it . Jmo. I'm sure someone on here has experienced them firsthand

I don’t think my space requires or could handle another 135 watts. If they were dimmable I might consider it. I looked through @Buck5050 ’s thread on the spiderfarm stuff , and that looks good, but is running $100 more, it also looks like Vipar has pretty much copied that design and is selling it in the $250 range. IDK, could go that route.

Mine is dimmable. The new ones even have a knob . I have boards too and they are both great . The options out there are amazing. Ohhh shit I just realized I have a ts 1000 that's 150 watts . Not an sp . Lol sorry bout that

Ive been running Kingbrite qb288's with the 3 reds for 10 months, had 1 ballast go south at 6 months and they replaced it within a week.
I would recommend panels with switched reds for certain.
I bought through alibaba from Kingbrite via Vicky Song.
Do research and check feedback.

Buck a watt is a great deal . Any less than that I'd be careful. Just saw on amazon the maxisun is well reviewed and is 189 . Basic spider farmer style

I could grab this for $237 with a coupon, 240 watts is overkill for my space, but if I run it at 75% I should be right about where I’d like to be. View attachment 32423

My suggestion is not to go with either Mars, or Vipar. They are not what they are cracked up to be.
If you want similar, but better quality, try Spyder Farmer (made b y Meizhi)..Prounounced Me IS HIGH! seriously..LMAO

Did you end up grabbing a light from either of these vendors? If so what are your impressions??
No I grabbed a light from Bava in 2018 and it’s still going strong. I asked him to change the driver and he did that. Paid $188 for a 240w. The second link is who I was messaging last month and who i’ll most likely go with if I get another board. They told me $160 shipped

I’ve been looking at the Bava stuff some, it looks solid, but with their shipping fees they run a bit more than some of the other vendors. Lots to think about here.

Folks beed to be aware that some of these companies are not using top shelf Samsung diodes..I have no idea which and who uses what; but I would certainly ask. Kingbrite was very forthcoming with info, but it's been a yr since I bought mine. There have also been a few reports of phoney Meanwell drivers being shipped.

These days, I put nothing beyond anyone...Just do your due diligence before you buy. I do remember Vicki from Kingbrite answering anything that I asked, and my order was only FOR 2 of their 240's. I went with the more expensive Cree Far Red chips, since the Epistar far reds are junk.

If I recall, the early Mars white light offerings used Samsung diodes and Meanwell drivers. Mars was a sponsor on another forum that I belonged to, and I asked them point blank. 1st came a non answer, followed by their admitting that things with the news lights were different. (different diodes and NOT Meanwell Drivers, but a look alike. That, imo, is a very sneaky and crafty bait and switch.
I for one will never forgive Mars for screwing over newbies with their burlple lights. I own a Mars tent, but it was a gift, and not purchased by me. They did a decent job of knocking off the better tents like Gorilla, but skimped on things like support poles (thin), and zippers..not to mention light leaks. That tent is now relegated to veg.

WITH ALL OF THEM..LET THE BUYER BEWARE!

I usually talk to any vendor for a couple days and let them know what i’d like and get a feel for them. Most are just trying to make money honestly and in China once they have the blueprint to something they get to churning it out. If there are certain diodes you want let them know and even ask for a picture.

When I ordered from Bava I spent a week chatting. I asked for pics of the diodes they were using and compared it to the HLG board I already have and it looked identical. With the last link I sent I asked them to change the driver* from HLG-240H-B to a HLG-240H-A and who I was talking to was happy to accommodate me but I was just doing recon.

If you are in Canada i would order direct with growlights.ca or true northern lighting for assembled boards.

Growlights has a variety of QB120s (1/2/4/6 board configurations with a couple of far red options).
240 watts is about 300 CDN (225 USD) for either board and they are good boards.

You can order direct yourself but the savings is marginal.

Thats a beauty. And the price is pretty good. And they sell COBS !!

Kingbrite has been approved by MANY

I have a pair of meiju boards 3k with 660nm far reds but they are first gen of the far red idea so no switch. They grow fire...I am not concerned with effiicnency just growing fire.

I cant look at them....must look away. I only need to veg a 2 x 2 and im lit....all day baby.

That light is 225 canadian...with shipping add 100 CDN...and they tax us the same as if we bought it at the store.

its a better value than buying china direct. It is just warehouse, bulk bought, china directd but it saves me 20 bucks and they would be here in 2 days.

They are a kit...but easy to put in a fixture.
