Greening a broccoli jar now. How is everybody drying these? I tried the salad spinner.......which works but with casualties :).......Currently pressing them between paper towels, which is working. But maybe there's an easier way I'm missing.

Has anyone tried that red rose radish..........wondering just how spicy that one is.

I spin the sprouts, then spread out on a dish towel for a couple hours. Will fan w/ a cutting board every now and then.

Also - no need for airtight storage. A little ventilation seems to help them keep longer.

I've just been rinsing real good and setting on paper towels for a bit and in a Tupperware....They are not sitting more than a day in the fridge...I eat them a couple times a day...I'm hooked... alfalfa is quick. I never run out..mung beans take longer...Can't wait to try different things .. Broccoli don't seem to swell and fill the jar like alfalfa but do taste good... Probably won't stray much from the alfalfa....Simply because of the ease but mostly flavor....Try a sandwich...All natural peanut butter piled with alfalfa sprouts....you'll thank me later?

New Mercola Article this morning on broccoli benefits
Could Broccoli Help With Your Gut Health?

STORY AT-A-GLANCE
Evidence reveals that compounds in broccoli help protect the integrity of your intestinal lining and therefore may help prevent leaky gut, which increases inflammation and may be the basis for many chronic diseases

Broccoli is a cruciferous vegetable with dozens of nutrients that support optimal health, including fiber, the anticancer compounds sulforaphane and glucoraphanin, anti-inflammatory and free radical quenching phenolic compounds and immune-boosting DIM
3,3β€²-diindolylmethane (DIM) is converted from indole-3-carbinol, a compound found in cruciferous vegetables. Researchers believe it may be a potent weapon against antibiotic-resistant pathogens

You can maximize the benefits of broccoli by lightly cooking it to augment the sulforaphane content. You can raise levels further by pairing it with a myrosinase-containing food such as mustard seed, arugula or radishes

Broccoli sprouts pack a greater nutritional punch and contain from 10 to 100 times the concentration of glucoraphanin and may have up to 100 times more enzymes than raw fruits and vegetables

Let's kick her up a notch

Lentil sprout stir fry soup w/ shrimp :)

lentilsoup.jpg

3 sticks celery
2 carrots
1 garlic head ( 5 cloves)
1 Medium onion
1 thumb size piece of ginger
Slice all that up thin, and stir fry with oil of choice until onions are translucent

Add 1 quart Emeril's veggie broth, 1/2 t salt, and a pinch of cayenne, rosemary and thyme
3/4 t of curry. Bring that to a boil and add 1 quart lentil sprouts ( originally 1/2 cup of dry lentils) Stir in and add a half a pound of pre cooked shrimp. Cook for 2-3 minutes :)

Still playing in that dry soup bean aisle. Tried Goya black beans and after 1.5 weeks maybe 20% sprouted. I used those but not trying again until I have a new bag. I was attempting sprouted black bean and garlic hummus but nyet. So onward to the Goya whole peas...$2/lb.......well these babies rock, total sprouting and fast..all done in 4 days..here's a Tilapia / Sprouted Pea medley
sproutstilapiapeas.jpg

Then I also picked up this bag of whorganic french lentils ;) They sprouted ballistically! They are 1/4 to 1/3 the size of normal lentils in the bag, like mini-lentils.....but they got bigger ;)

And I used them and some garlic scapes in a pork/chicken medley

A base medley is onions, carrots, celery, garlic in varying proportions. :)

I highly recommend both the peas and the lentils. Taste and texture along with the nutrition.

I also grabbed a bag of Goya garbanzo beans or chick peas.........will run those soon :D
