The longest running and my favorite edc blade I’ve ever had. The kabar ussf corser folder has served me very well over the last couple years. Somehow I haven’t lost it, even after numerous drops in the river and misplacements. First time carrying a tanto blade also, which I’ve ended up loving. Can’t go wrong with a ka-bar.

Nice!
Here's my only ka-bar. Bought it new 20-some years ago. It's seen plenty of use but I carry more practical fixed blades these days (I don't do much hand to hand combat anymore;) )

What do you like about the tanto? I've resisted trying them because they just look wrong to me, but I try to stay open-minded and am always open to new information.

I have an old Ka-Bar like that back at my mom's house somewhere. Those things are the coolest!! I have the USSF big one, but haven't had to fight off any aliens or anything yet...

I felt the same way about the tanto blades, and this was my fist. I originally got the folder just because I was stoked on the USSF thing. Once I got it, I hated the handle and felt like it was cheap. I decided that I would then actually use/abuse the thing, instead of keeping it as a collectable. After carrying it for a couple years, I've grown very fond of the knife and tanto shape. I have used the broad point to help me gain leverage on odd cuts, and it seems to help zip open boxes well. Sometimes when I am using it to tear through things like nylon strapping, it seems like that little extra point helps rip through, when it's sharp. I also was worried about sharpening the angle, but hasn't given me any trouble there. I don't think there is anything extra you can do with a tanto, but I do think I avoided them for too long.

Nice, wish I still had mine like that.
Had one I inherited from my dad, was the most awesome blade ever, took any and all abuse without fail.
Til someone broke in the truck and stole it anyways. Boo on them. Lol.

Have never used a tanto, but I could see where sharpening a one as being much easier with the straight lines.
Those Knives are so ridiculously useful.
All except this one. Lol

You know I was wondering when knives were going to be talked about on here. It's about damn time. I've been collecting folders and fixed blades for years. I love knives almost as much as my cultivars. I got a camillus and they (Marine Corp) switched to the k bar. Not too long after that. I'm going to try to dig it out now. @Mim Towls , ty for breaking the ice on that !!! By the way, I'm missing you all. Had to go back to work now that I'm healthy again. God does it suck lol

Yeah they have always been a good American name . Those tantos can pierce anything including spectra fiber and or bulletproof vests Not sure what they are using now but yeah not only that but the strengthness of the tip is much stronger as well. Tantos are pretty cool man ? ?

That thing is real sweet. I could see a theft being the only thing putting one out of commission. I was staring at the collectable section of the Ka-bar website this morning... so awesome.

I knew you were a knife guy the way that we both referenced the "old timers" knives as being something that we've always had, but never bought. Always got one of those things.

SHOW ME YOUR POCKET KNIVES!!

Well where do I begin lol. I definitely stuck with the high end though from Spyderco and up. And then I got into a kick of custom fixed blades. Some of them I waited 2 years for. And yo by the way, I don't have a bunch of tantos but they are super super multi-use. That edge is amazing to cut with. It's a little trickier to sharpen but yeah, they're definitely useful around work and the shop versus your basic blade. The big thing now is the variety of steels available. And that's really what you're paying for in the end. Like you could have the same knife with two different steels and ones double the price. It's wild right now. The steel game. But what's cool is there is no perfect steel you got to give to get nothing performs at high end in all categories. Which is kind of cool depending on what you're using it and needing it for. I just grabbed a couple years ago. LCN 200 Spyderco and that s*** is literally on rustible. Which is pretty cool

I've always been on the cheaper end of the spectrum, buck, schrade etc.... I want to see some of your fancy schmancy ones. I love that stuff. I want a speed goat but I don't really skin anything. I get such fomo looking at that site.
