Do yourself a favor and fill that pocket on the bottom side of the SHIP. Grain always gets stuck there and even though it is for an LC jar it is a good habit to put it there.
Ill be doing that for sure! Thanks for that suggestion man! Need to go get another couple tubes of RTV.....I banged out a bunch of lids hehe

I made some blue juice. Used 50 grams fresh and between 12 and 16 ounces of ice. Chopped them up and threw it all in a yeti in my mini fridge for 5 days. Got about 15 ounces back out. 0708201153a.jpg Looks good, not sure how to gauge dosage. Anyone know how efficient this extraction method is?

Hell ya @GCG! Make some ice cubes for refreshments! lol

I'm not sure how efficient water is at extracting the actives . This will be a good test.
I have used cranberry juice to extract from mycelium. It did work, I drank it almost immediately after making it, but I'm not sure how efficient it was.
High proof alcohol is probably the best choice according to what I've read and tried. Citric acid is also something to look into while extracting.
Some fun info on this link.

I have used a coffee maker to rehydrate dry mushrooms and make tea but I put the chopped up pieces in the tea cup.

I used to have a buddy in Puyallup that scored liberty caps from the Walmart parking lot by the grocery sack full. They used to put them fresh in hot water and squish it all through pantyhose. To make the flavor they would add Tang drink mix.

I am very interested in seeing how the cool mist does at the bottom of the tent. Thats how RR likes to do it too, mines outside the tent above it, so im using it for both FAE and misting. The guy whose tek i used to base my build off of, said that he ruined multiple humidifiers before putting it outside the tent. But RR swears by it! So I bet there are some good/bad variables for usage :) We are going to find out !~

The reason for me putting it inside is because this tent is in the same room as a flowering tent. It would help me if it works lol but if not I can change it up. I was planning on puttin a fan beside the humidifier to push air up and maybe help with temps ?‍♂️ lol
I'm all about learning and I know this isn't optimal so I'm not expecting alot from this try?. I just had to get it goin one way or another to get the wife off my back about too many projects lol.

Definitely a fan I have a 6in running 5min/4hrs at third rack from bottom pointing up for fae intake vents on each side of that row and A vent at the top of the tent..

400ml of blue juice on board. 150ml didnt seem to do much. 45 minutes in, nothing of note so pounded remaining 250ml. So far eating dry seems more potent by multiples. 1.5 dry had me happy 150ml nothing. Used 50 grams fresh so equivalent of 5 dry theoretically. Clearly not as efficient as Id hoped. I'll update if anything changes.

Thanks for the update and your evaluation. It sure looked good. Taste? Hmm probably not at all like blue kool aid. lol
Hope you at least get something off the full dose @GCG .
Tasted like fresh mushrooms, surprisingly pleasant. I'm an hour post full jar and still feel like 1.5 dry gave me more.

Hey all. Giving it another shot into the world of shroomies. I ordered a 50 lb bag of oats to spawn in, and i have a leftover unopened bag of substrate from midwest, but will need to make more soon. have seen some good tecs on that. forgive me if these questions have already been answered:

So I'm gonna do the soaking/pressure cooking of the grains, then innoculate. I can fit 4 of the pint jars in my insta pot, so I"ll probably do 8 pints to start. Then the next weekend 8 more, to spawn the first jars into for more jars. Sound good so far?

Then I'm thinking of just doing a few of the shoeboxes, to keep it small, simple, and have a few going in case one gets fucked up. So i'll wait til the jar is covered in mycilium, then mix it in with the casing, like a 50/50 mix? line it in the shoebox about 1.5 inches thick, and put the lid on but not snapped back on.

Then I need to put it in the light and fruit it? does it need to stay in the light the entire time? is there such a thing as too much light? I understand I want around 100% humidity, correct?

thanks everybody for helping me with noob questions.

Wish I had advice but my experiment was short lived. Successful but solely to see if I could. Way easier to have patience with a plant for me. Was like watching a pot boil waiting to finally be able to fruit and it wasn't all that long. Good luck, these guys will steer you right.

@Dino Party- Oats are tricky. You shouldn't need a presoak as it is not a hard shelled grain like rye or wheat. I haven't worked with oats too many times, but found they work best when used in a similar fashion to brown rice flour in pftek style cakes. They are really dense and sticky used alone. Pints of oats might be difficult to get the moisture levels dialed in. I will look for a good oat tek. Please post yours, or a link, if you have it.

12 hrs of light is great. Bright natural light or blue spectrum is ideal.

The shoebox size tray/tubs work finel. I have pretty good luck with substrates about that depth. Save enough substrate to cover each tray, so no spawn/oats mycelium are exposed. It's starchy and rapidly contaminates.

You wont need to leave the lid cracked, snap it on there. In fact I'd suggest covering the freshly spawned tray with aluminum foil (poke some holes with a knife or fork) while it colonizes. Then snap the lid on and leave it alone until it engulfs the entire substrate.

The higher the ratio of spawn to substrate the faster it colonizes. 50/50 is high.

If you have the moisture content of the substrate correct, these small trays will will keep the humidity levels just about right. Once you have fully colonized substrate, fanning and a fine misting a few times a day should give you good results.

Good luck.
