Heard from my friend today. He said after he got home, the rest of the day was a complete write-off and the missus was not impressed. :LOL::ROFLMAO:

Fuck it. He's had a rough run lately, and things have just started to turn around due to his hard work. He deserved a day to just be a happy lump on a couch. :)

We all deserve an I Got Stoned and I Missed It day once in a while.

I climbed into bed with romantic intentions - and passed out the second I was horizontal! :LOL:
Felt great to have a giggle-fest with my Wife - especially given all the strangeness and stress lately.

Woke up feeling GREAT - no "hangover" effects at all; my back & other old guy parts didn't hurt as much either; had a productive day!
That's why I really like edibles - STRONG effects with minimal / no residual effects the next day.

The Smiths, The Pogues, and this group are three that I was introduced to by an ex way back when. She's lost in the rearview mirror long ago, but I still enjoy the tunes. :)

The lady has some soul in that voice.

Wow, just noticed the video has 66 million views. Never would have predicted that.

We didn't have cable out in the sticks and access to music videos was a 1/2 hour program on CBC. Consequently, while
I owned Autoamerican on LP and liked Blondie a lot, I'd never seen their live performances.

I just watched this for the first time. Goddam does Debbie Harry have charisma and stage presence!

Strange how the mind works. I listened to this song today for the first time in years and knew every single word and could keep the tempo no problem, it was that fresh in my mind.
Yet somehow I'd forgotten how badass this song was. These boys can play. This song has funk, rock, and an almost rap-ish lyrical rhythm over some sweet fiddlin'!

IMHO quintessential '80s guitar intro, very cool progressions following.

Nice. :) They are known for their singles, but don't get enough credit for their creativity, imo.

For me, Dire Straits will always remind me of all the shit I did the year Brothers in Arms was released. I was a teenager, working away from home in a beach town for the summer, with zero supervision. It's honestly surprising I survived that summer, even more amazing that I emerged without a criminal record. Every time I hear the opening chords of Money for Nothing, it's 1985 again. :stoned:

We didn't have cable till I was a bit older. Had a antennae sticking 20ft off the roof of the house lol!

However, my Dad used to brag that he had the first remote control TV - "Hey! Get up & change it to channel 3!" :LOL:

I'm not an authority, but the Go-Gos may be the only true all female rock'n'roll band (please share any others, I'm truly interested). They weren't a creation of some sleazy promoter or talent show producer, they weren't being controlled by some off-stage Svengali. They were a bunch of rowdy, raunchy, drinking, drugging, hard-fucking party beasts in the true rock'n'roll tradition.

And their music is fun as hell. :) :punkrocker:

I shared one on the other thread of these two guys kicking ass on a live performance of Not Fade Away. This one just came up on shuffle and reminded me how much I enjoy it. :)

Nothin' funny about a big parade
Nothin' funny 'til it starts to rain;
Nothin' funny about a broken wing
Nothin' funny 'til it's on your plane;
Nothin' funny bout fallin' in love
'Til your love flies out the door;
And my life's been funny lately
Yeah, I'm about to split my sides
My life's been funny lately
I gotta laugh to keep from cryin.'

I've seen her in Westside Story, but I mostly know her as the psychologist nun, Sister Peter Marie, from Oz, so it was fun to see this side of Rita Moreno.
Animal should know not to piss off a latino lady. Hell, I'm a Canadian boy who has never even met a Puerto Rican, and even I know better. ?

Great to see she's still going at 89 years old.

For those too young to remember, after the neon, coke-fueled, Ferris Beuller-ian 80's, the 90's ushered in a more introspective period. Hair Metal gave way to Alternative, and eventually the "sensitive, nineties-kinda-guy" became a mocked meme.

Remember these guys? They were a big deal for a little while and then it seemed like overnight they became the butt of the joke as the embodiment of the 90's neo-hippy scene.

Never been a Floyd fanatic, but always enjoyed this one for how they create so much from nearly random sounds. Your mention of "voice as an instrument" reminded me of this.

Meaningless bit of trivia, while Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving With a Pict may seem like a long song title, I present:

Jeremiah Peabody's Polyunsaturated Quick Dissolving Fast Acting Pleasant Tasting Green and Purple Pills, which beats it by 4 whole syllables. ;) (if your math differs, it's a metric thing)

It wasn't "Morbid Truth", but I was also in "psychedelic jazz" band called:

"Doc Marvel and the Bright Green Pleasure Machine"

No recordings at all - kind of a shame 'cause even though 90% was doped out crap (we ate a lot of mushrooms & acid back then).
But the 10% that was good was GOOD - somewhere between King Crimson & Butthole Surfers.
This track was one of our influences:
