I may get lynched in certain circles for this. But I listen back to this stuff...
To the best of my knowledge, Jello Biafra is still highly respected, unless he's had some breakdown or freakout I'm unaware of.

He's another one of those lyricists who checks to see if you are really listening. He too employs the unreliable narrator device. So much of it sounds offensive in one way or the other, but generally his message is all about empowerment of the downtrodden, or at least recognizing their struggle.
Frankenchrist was my first DK tape. These are the first two of their tunes that come to mind.

You the human being are now obsolete
and there's nothing in hell we'll let you do about it

Soup is good food,
you made a good meal
how does it feel
to be shit out our ass
and thrown in the cold like a piece of trash

At 16-17 living as a squatter I was into more about the rage in the songs. I don’t think I paused once to figure out lyrics. I loved them back then but would I go back and reminisce about old times?? Probably not, that would be more Misfits, Ramones, etc. I was into the harder stuff as a younger “child” then at 19 I had a kid and needed to be “responsible” so I mellowed out a bit.

This is probably the thread I should post music in, since discussion of music is sometimes inappropriate. I'm not sure how "it has a good beat and I can dance to it" is an acceptable comment, but anything more thoughtful is taken as an insult.

There was a point on that other music thread where some of you started confessing your sins, and I never joined in:

My Musical Taste Confessions Chapter 1, entry 1.

I am a Miley Cyrus fan. I identify with her, somehow. Don't be creepy I really liked her work with Wayne Coyne.

It seems we're both salirophiliacs, that's probably the main reason. Okay, now I'm being creepy.

Never paid much attention to her, but when I learned that the ultra talented and genuinely good human being Dolly Parton was her godmother and that they were close, I realized she was likely a pretty smart kid that knew what she was doing. Still never heard much of her music, but she seems like a solid person.

She's a big deal in MMA right now because this nerdy fighter used his post-win interview last week to ask her to be his valentine and she responded. I think it's an ongoing thing, but I refuse to pay that much attention.

Anyway, here's Miley performing with someone she clearly loves.

Unpopular, tar and feather, run me out of town on a rail, opinion time.

To me, Bon Scott era ACDC was one of the best ever at that style. Dirty, sleazy, bluesy rock and roll, with a psycho leprechaun on guitar and with one of the most iconic front men to ever hold a microphone. I love everything they did.

Brian Johnson ACDC was just another generic rock/metal band to me. They still went 100% and put on an amazing live performance, but other than Angus, there wasn't anything really significant or unique, and I'd already seen Angus.

Not so strangely their success was inversely proportional to my opinion, so once again, what the fuck do I know? ;):)
Yep the same could be said for Van Halen pre and post David lee Roth . Two ways to see a band I guess . The aura and stage presence and then that noise produced that registers with your senses you either relate or not ?.

Just had to look it up. Presuming you are in the Sydney time zone, you are 18 hours ahead of my time, @Ramjet159 , and headed toward Autumn.

I always have to remind myself that the forum folk are from all over the place, when my mind tends to assume you are all sitting in a frozen paradise waiting for Spring like me. ;)
Sydney hmmm oh yeah that funny shaped Opera House and unaffordable real estate combined with compressed traffic ...... no thanks . I’ll stick to sleepy old South Australia , a much more country town feel suites my style . I do laugh though when I almost always see strain info suggesting October being that special harvest month with never any mention of the Southern Hemisphere and the exact opposite seasonal factors . Can’t complain too much though being on a relatively remote island where Covid although being a slight annoyance really hasn’t caused much damage in contrast to the rest of the planet . Oh yeah we did experience shit paper ambush as well though . Stupidity seems consistent on every continent

I confess to knowing very little detail about 'Stralia. Probably most of what I've learned came from Monty Python skits and from watching the legendary Steve Irwin, neither of which are likely to be very accurate depictions of daily life. ;)
(Or maybe you are actually all maniacs named Bruce who play with komodo dragons like they were skinks.)

I know your chavs/trash are called bogans and I heard a very traumatized Canadian girl talk about being terrorized by a huge frog in an outdoor toilet. That's about the sum of my knowledge, so I really enjoy picking up little bits of life in the land of Oz from your posts.

How about an Aussie song performed by a Canadian band?
(Also, are all the sheep shaggers in NSW and over in NZL, or is it truly a national pastime? :devilish: )

These guys also have some great original tunes, with great stories.

Yup, never really cared for “Van Hagar” but they did make good music. But it wasn’t the same as the music they made with DLR... just my preference I guess.

I’m in Virginia (the south) going from winter to spring is a DAILY thing here. One day it’s in the mid 50’s the next it’s in the low 30’s. We literally just had a ice storm that killed power for over 148,000 people. It was in the 20’s when it happened. The NEXT day it melted away with high’s in the 50’s. Flowers growing outside (in WINTER) are like Anne Heche in the 90’s about her sexuality:
“I’m out, I’m in, I’m out, I’m in..... $#!+ I don’t know what’s going on!!!”
I want regular weather.....

This is so much fun to watch.

You know those scenes in movies where someone starts to perform in front of an audience of a different ethnicity and the crowd starts out in stunned silence, followed by disbelief and amazement, and ending up with the crowd just getting caught up and blown away by the performance?

If you don't know, Snow was a Canadian kid from Toronto who grew up hanging out in the very established Toronto Jamaican community and falling in love with the scene and music.

Watch this Jamaican girl seeing and hearing Snow for the first time. Partway through she stops trying to figure out WTF she's watching and just starts rocking along.

? sheep shagging now that’s truly a NZ identity due to the fact they probably have half the worlds supply of sheep . They’re great people though the Kiwis . A good bunch who are probably even more laid back and relaxed then we are and that takes a bit . It’s a beautiful country scenic wise as well . I was only talking with a mate this morning about us Aussies as a pretty different type of inhabitant of this planet . We love taking the piss which f your not familiar with the term means bringing each other back to earth with smart ass comments pretty much on a daily basis so if your a fragile little sensitive petal your probably not going to enjoy living in Oz . It’s hard to not sound biased because everybody or most love their country but it is a really nice place to live if you love camping and fishing and outdoor lifestyle and long hot Summers . The flies at times can be a bit annoying and yeah sure we do have a few nasty critters kicking around but it’s generally not an issue . I’d recommend to anyone to come down for a visit . You wouldn’t regret it .
