I'm about 20 minutes into the polar opposite of that one ^^^

"And those that create out of the holocaust of their own inheritance
anything more than a convenient self-made tomb shall be known as 'Survivors'."

Did a quick dive and that's a pretty interesting character.

It was sad when almost the first thing read was:

In February 2018, Jarrett suffered a stroke and has been unable to perform since. A second stroke, in May 2018, left him partially paralyzed and unable to play with his left hand.

I heard about this recently so I had to go find the video.
I had to listen a couple times to get through the accent, but it made me an even bigger Lemmy fan.

Reading through the comments was pretty cool too, seeing all the young, black rockers that were affected by this.

It reminded me of Body Count's first album where T also addresses this issue.

TLDR: love the music you love, to hell with those telling you otherwise

Oh I love Body Count.

From my Mitten perspective; we have a band called Death. Black dudes from the East Side. They played what is called "Proto Punk" because Detroit has been doing that longer than the inspiration it gave to New York and London to make punk. Detroit invented "Horror Core" too because Esham likes Black Sabbath and Ozzy's solo stuff. Dead Kennedys drummer was black I think too.

In an interview with Death, they said they were hated when they practiced at home. "Playing that white music". Pretty damn similar really.

I'm glad people see that a bit more now. If you'd like proof, youtube has a lot of videos if dudes that listen to mainly rap, listening to a bunch of music reacting to it. Rage Against The Machine, Tool, Black Sabbath, Rammstein, and Ram Jam are favorites and I love that. Art speaks beyond color to every human.

How many of us really liked the same music as our parents when we were young? I eventually appreciated Motown, and my mom likes Rammstein. No she doesn't know the lyrics lol.

Thought he was actually older than that.

I generally enjoy jazz when I hear it but I am woefully ignorant of the genre. A bit of Louis Armstrong and the like was all I heard growing up.

I did get into, and still love, the big-band, swing stuff from the 90's. Royal Crown Revue, Squirrel Nut Zippers, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, CPD, Brian Setzer Orchestra, etc, but to further illustrate my ignorance, I didn't even realize that was a form of jazz for an embarrassing length of time.

I don't know anybody who doesn't have gaping holes in their musical vocabulary.
I don't think a person can like every type of music. I don't.
But I do like way more than I don't and I like hearing new ones whenever I can justify it.

I had jazz in my house my whole life - my pop was a Navy musician in the Big One.

A couple of jazz favorites.

But really, this is what I was coming on here to share. It's not even fair how good this is.

Tenhi got me thinking about songs I like that are performed in languages I don't speak and it reminded me of this one.
No idea what she is saying(Scottish Gaelic) but it sounds amazing to my ears.

Tenhi is fine, but when I think Finnish neofolk, the first band I think of is.....

Of course I don't know any other groups!!!

:ROFLMAO:

How the hell did you get into Finnish neofolk?
:LOL::LOL::LOL:

They're a favorite among metalheads, and they've been one of mine since Maaaet in 2006. It's not really too different from Finnish black metal in terms of feel and structure. I like my music darker than my sense of humor.

Kauan is also good and in the same vein. But Tenhi is legendarily magnificent. It's like the constant soundtrack to my brain.

I'll be listening to this one forever. In my book it's as close to the perfect album as exists.

I'm listening to a lot of foreign language music lately - French, Italian, Spanish, Icelandic...

I'm not the biggest post-rock fan, but I do dig these dudes
