My Namkading seed run

... and now there are balls on everything. All the plants hermed. I think I'm going to continue to make seeds because I think herms are the default state. But I'm also running the clones under 12/12 to see if they still herm.

If this strain has the effects I'm looking for, I'll learn to live with it until I find some specimens that don't herm or cross them to something else.

I'm not surprised, since that's extremely common with landraces from Laos and Thailand. Just disappointed.

I'll run a bunch of the next generation in solo cups to see if I can find a few stable phenos.
Hey mate, my Lao sa I grew I had no worries. No herms. They survived a poisoning fiasco up here and ran through fine. That was outdoors. My tora bora outdoors and aculpulco gold all outdoors hermed. If you get stuck just herm and not seeing getting through sing out. Im happy to shoot out a letter of Lao sa to you. I had a purple and also green phenos. I'm rerunning them atm outside to check germ rates so I'll redo a preservation run. Same with mazar and leb. Offer is there if you want to run the lao sa.
Other than that it's been enjoyable watching you run it through.

Thanks for the offer @Frosty78! I'm running a bunch of Sinai and a few Bahia right now but might ping you in a few months if that's ok. Now it's cold outside at night and I have to find space for what I'm running outside so it sort of worked out. I guess...

I have a thought that just removing herms from the genepool of a landrace like this might also remove some of the plants with the most interesting effects. I'd really like to explore that, but I don't have a plantation or warehouse to explore it in.

I have clones of these ladies and am going to rerun them on 12s and see what happens. If someone was considering running this strain, you should know that I stressed them by interrupting lights out for 30 minutes for three days, and that it still might be possible to run them without herms.

I also have a few seeds left and may cross some males to something stable and fast in the future.

Meantime, I chopped them. I took this last picture first.

Here's another update on the mini-scrog, day 45. She's about a week into actual stretching and I think she has at least another month of stretch to go. I'm not sure though, because I don't know what to expect of her on 12/12 - hopefully massive growth. If she were in Laos, she'd be spending her whole life pretty close to 12/12 so my hope is that most of the colas make it to the light.

I cleaned up the understory today. Anything that didn't make it to the second level is mulch now.

Exposure is off on this picture but it gives you a good look at what I did.

I haven't reported back in awhile, so...:partyparrot::carlton::fastparrot:

In the past couple of weeks she's been pollinated with some rando polyhybrid auto pollen I happened to be using in another project. And she's growing these huge seeds, like I've only ever seen on a Kumaoni.

Look at this beast!

She's in the corner of the tent, where the light quality isn't quite as good. But her higher colas are high enough to catch more of the scattered light from the LED, so she compensates. Flowering longer helps too.

Every seed of this strain that I planted, male and female, hermed at a 10 hour day. I thought it might flower forever on the regular 12/12, and maybe even get a semiperpetual harvest! 🔁 But "she" (I mean the girls), started flowering and went into stretch right away, and they're developing fast enough that I feel confident it's not more than 2.5 months from now, so maybe by the end of February. Anyway, no nanners this time for either pheno. So I'm going to see what I can get from their seeds.

Edit: Anyway, no herms so it's safe to grow indoors so long as you don't shorten the day too much.
