Neville's Haze Preservation

How many of each sex would that leave? In my opinion culling plants with clear undesirable traits so long as you are otherwise aiming for optimal genetic diversity should be allowable.
Any input from our more experienced chuckers would likely weigh more heavily than my newb opinion.
That would leave one male and 4 females. The actual final component would be to bx selected offspring to one or both of the haze dominant males.

The intesex boy was culled already. The 2 haze dom females have some preflowers as does the wider leaf one, the short faster flowering one is the only one in any way ready to receive pollen.

Going the long road. This will take more than 1 run to complete. I pulled the 2 more haze males into the garage, will try to collect pollen but am gambling on the clones rooting. This is more of a stress test.

Will leave the other male to do his thing, then will run those to bx with hopefilly both these males.

I think this is the best I can do to capture the genetic of this line and hopefully provide something that is growable in the end.

Took backup cuts but some will have some serious revegging to do.

The primaries arent looking awful but they aren't looking like I want them to 11 days from being cut. Its been cold and I let it get to 59 a couple days ago.

Trimmed up and did IPM foliar 1/2 Tpsp Grandevo with 1g super k fulvate and 3ml yucca in 1/2 gallon.

The boys are finishing the week in the garage, its been in the 50s with RH of at best 19%. Perfect for pollen collection, not so much for transpiration. They are surviving, left the light on one night this week.

First round of cuts hit the f/d 14 - 15 days after cutting, looks like they greened up from last night for the most part.

Hope I don't nh no.2 spare
20210220_123716.jpg
Bumped it and spun in the media, looks like I facacachcad any root nubs. Its probably too far into flower for any cut to survive.

LSTd the boy back on himself.
20210220_124445.jpg
He'll make pollen but its gonna be a minute.
20210220_122334.jpg
Both he and no.4 were showing some sign of N def.

While the other 3 are a bit more sensitive.
20210220_122319.jpg 20210220_122312.jpg
No. 6 is droopy up top because I keep hiting a kink from where lst was not not low enough.

No. 4 has 2-10x the node spacing of either no. 2 or no.8 which are both showing more mature flowers (like ready for pollen) while no. 6 is just a couple days behind but has the structure of no. 4. No.4 is the only female that ended up having a significant number of 7 blade leaves.

These do not seem to produce much pollen. Did a little shakey shake over the trays with NH1.

Also tried to harvest some from NH3

There were only a couple four or five spots like that where a flower hit. Covered 3 sheets of parchament with flowers and barely any pollen. What was there just stuck to the parchament too. Gonna have to rely on the clone as I don't see being able to collect any pollen from this one or his bro, no. 5.

Resivoir change tomorrow going to go with 1.2:1 MCA:Cal-Nit @4g/gal. (2.18g mca, 1.81g cal-nit) plus 0.5g/gal ea. MOAB, pickle crisp and epsom.
Might not have enough MOAB, but will use mills p/k if needed to hit final target max ppm of 750. These seem to appreciate a more alkaline res pH (while tanking the res pH) so will target 6.1 instead of 5.8 like I usually do.

Some pics of giraffe wrangling from the other day.

Chopped the 2 boys in the garage I'm confident the cuts will make it.

I might go to this method in the future.

Pulled down the male yesterday.

There won't be as many beans on No. 4 as the rest, but I'm not sure that one is a viable pheno anywhere but the equator.

I finally culled the No.7 cuts (intersex) as well. Keeping the rest at least 'till harvesting their offsprings offspring, I want to be able to recreate this just in case I land a winner.

Will try to get through the offspring and select an appropriate female to bx to the 2 haze males.

This first round should be done end of April so if anyone wants to run them outdoor this summer there's a chance it can be done.

I will stick with the 12/12 from seed theme for round 2 and will try to do 20 at a time keeping only the best from each of the 4 phases of round 2 look for this to go 'til the end of '22.

Was going to take some pics this morning but phone went for a swim and we got condensation on the lense.
20210328_103842.jpg
Thats NH 4 only just starting to show signs of maturing at 85 days 12/12. It is carrying nearly mature seeds, the husks are beginning to get necrotic. The others are much closer to buds being done though I am not seeing any amber and only a hint of cloudy when scoped.

They are all smelling like spiced orange cider which is kinda surprising given how dissimilar their physical appearce is.

If these don't atleast smoke halfway decent I probably won't continue the project. Until then thinking I will move the parents to small soil pots and bansi them.

I'm at a coin flip, res is due for a change. The bud on NH 2, 6 and 8 will be gabage, the only one that has a chance to turn anything out is NH4 and that's because basically only the preflowers are pollinated on it.

NH4 seeds right, NH 8 left
20210331_200600.jpg

Trouble is I have been figuring around with nutrients and using these plants as a testing ground. Have to admit its been rough, no ego boost when posting pics thats for sure. Even if I can go the 6-8 more weeks for NH4, the seeds are falling out of it so bad there wont be any left in the plant.
