New here but old in general

Hi everyone. I found out about this site at DCSE, and thought I’d check it out. I've been on another forum for a long time, but never really branched out. Was out of this game for years, but legalization in my state has put me squarely back in. Just introducing myself because it seems like the polite thing to do when you’re in someone else’s house.

Unfortunately, I mistreated my old stock of some pretty awesome genetics and seem to have lost most of it, but I’m slowly restocking. Trying to track down the lineage of these new strains is interesting, but I’m sifting through it all… although I did do the old guy thing and by some classic stuff from Mike at Peaks just to be safe (At least I know what Sweet Skunk and NL is). Running some of that with some BBB gear I got from DCSE.

The one thing I do like better is not having to purchase these things from Europe. Chicago customs is my arch enemy. But I digress.

Hope to see you all around, though I won’t be the guy helping out with answers much as I’m averse to online arguments.

Regards,
Hitch

Welcome @Hitch ...I too have an older degrading seed collection...there are still ways to help improve germ rates on older seeds...mostly even if they crack, there is not enough hormones left to push out a tap root...so...we have URB soak for 24 hrs then into a wet paper towel, gibrellic acid, any other type of hormone increaser, and freezing and unfreezing of the seeds to help with germination...and then there is tissue culture, which is your best bet!
It is frustrating as hell...I just dropped 10 chem D (m) x LA Confidential...I got 9 up 3 of them fizzled, the rest are kinda not doing much past putting out contlydons...

Thanks for the welcome my friend.

Believe me, I have tried all of the usual methods save for tissue culture, which is frankly more advanced than I want to get. I did manage to get a pop on one decade old bean that’s doing great now, although it wasn’t one of the more prized ones. (Satori)

I still have a bunch and I’ll continue to mess around with them I suppose. May even keep some in case I ever feel froggy enough to try tissue culture. I’ll admit I’d love to salvage a few things like my Williams Wonder beans. On a positive note, the only thing I’ve tried and completely lost so far that disappoints me at all is my GGG grape stomper stuff, which was fire for me 8-9 years ago. All the others I’ve tried and failed at germinating aren’t terribly rare at least (Mr. Nice, Serious, Mandala, etc)

Well if you are that upset by it...my friend Luke at Omuerta Genetixs has it at F5 now....a very nice grape skunk flavor...it's called Quetzalcoatl on his list of strains...I just finished it last year @ F4...
Very very nice!
