Welcome @916DanFan Looks like your off on the right foot with everything so far. I too use maxibloom and maxigrow but I personally do not mix them together. I think the 2g pots are very adequate for flowering with coco, I use 1gal ?‍♂️.
As far as how many plants, up to you on how long you veg because most will atleast double in flower. Good luck and if you need anything ask away, theres plenty of great people here willing to help. ??

It's been a pretty good first day here: plenty of good folks replied and made me feel welcome, I got a look at a few other Slymer grows on here that appear to be PURE FIRE from the pics so I got plenty to look forward to; I got the beans. I'm feelin' all VIP now ?

I'm still debating whether to go ROLS (no experience) or Coco&KISS. As far as water, I could do RO but I understand the backwashing is pretty wasteful so I'm leaning towards running my tap water through a Boogie Brew Plus filter and then aerate it for a day before use. What y'all think? I'll be thinking about that, pot size, and how many I can get under one of them Gavitas. My first mind says nine plants finishing in 2g square pots (CocoKISS) or 3g square pots (ROLS).

G'nite everybody
Living soil has been a gas for me. Just water and light. I also give my girls a floral tea every 2-3 weeks. If you decide to go with an organic living soil, never use any synthetic nutes if you will be recharging the soil after the grow.
Ask for help on PH and you will get it! Good luck.

G'day mate, you'll love it here. I think everyone here has fire in the tents or in the ground outdoors, I can go early say I haven't seen one photo or grow journal and said to myself that's garbage everytime I see someone's work I marvel and think if they are pushing the boundaries there why not here. The photo of the month is a preference, it gets bigger with more entrants and more photos that make you salivate. Blokes and women Taki g it to another level with no bullshit ego's etc. . But I digress I'm just a simple fella that's loves watching plants grow, and collecting genetics.
Yeah Seed addictions anonymous runs here too.... But we are all in denial as there is never enough strains to grow and the first step in addictions is admitting you have a problem haha.

Thanks to those who've welcomed me and commented! Easy place to settle in ya's got here ?.

DIRT... it's gonna be dirt. I didn't dream about it, just made up my mind is what I did. I have access to great soil products locally. If you guys are familiar with Boogie Brew (Hey Josh!), his "base mix" is blended right near my house and that place has all kinds of great bagged soils, compost, castings, etc... ALL WHOLESALE PRICED! Then there's another place that has the full line of Down To Earth products to add to the base mix... ALSO WHOLESALE PRICED!

Only one potential problem... is there enough time to let a custom batch "cook" before I'll need it? How long does that normally take? I can just use their pre-bagged stuff and blend a few brands together for diversity's sake, and add like 10-20% compost and 5-10% castings. They've got Bu's Blend, FFOF, FFHF, Heritage Organics, their house brand (Redi-Gro) "premium organic" potting soil, etc. I have a friend that works in Grass Valley a few times a month and he brings me "Seacoast Compost" (y'all familiar?) and the most awesome castings (with plenty of little wiggler's in the "heavy a f" bag.

Next post will cover my "planned" germination method, which y'all can correct ?. Time to get up and Brew a pot of Seattle's Best right now...

Thanks for that Smokieokie. I was floored by my Maxi results back when, and see that side-by-side happening down the road apiece, but I'ma be on a "dirt road" to start this trip.

A PLAN FOR WEDNESDAY (and heater help) but should I post here or somewhere else? Am I still introducing myself or starting the growshow? I'll lay it down here and y'all can help me move/repost in the proper place later.

I plan to pop all the S1's as follows:
-12 hour soak in a shot glass
-Place soaked beans in a "pre-split" Root Riots in the cut tray on a heat mat (???) and cover for darkness
-Check every 12 hours and move any sprouts up to the veg light as they pop
-Check Riots daily for roots and move to (solos or 5x5 square pots?)
-Move to 2g (9x9?) square pots when roots show

Should the solo cups (or 5x5's) be filled with straight light warrior
or a blend for some nutrition?

Where should this thread go now?

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome and support!

Heater Help...
The veg tent is in an outdoor she'd and it's getting cold. I had a little forced air heater fan that put in the tent "on the lowest setting" and it warmed the space up proper... but won't turn off automatically (no thermostat). Should I get a oil-filled heater "with a thermostat" or use a day/night temp controller with the fan I have? I'll be using a controller at some point and looking at Trolmasters.

The flower room is a 10x19 game room on the first floor of a 2 story house. I can easily seal it up and add CO2 but hoped to do that for "round two". Objective now is get Slymers germ'd/veg'd/cloned. They'll be in the shed about the first three weeks I imagine.

Yeah, those oil heaters are great and efficient, sealed and insulated. Hopefully you're good out there

Dang fine plan imho. ???
Can either start a new thread for your grow journal, or I can change this one to your journal if you'd like.

I haven't had to use it in awhile since adding more lights, but an oil filled radiator heater with thermostat is the way to go imho.
Kept my grow plenty warm, and was never too hot to touch so no fire danger.
Was about $80 a few yrs ago.
Since then I keep the lights on alternating schedules between the rooms, and let them keep each other warm.

Thanks JL2G. I'll start up a new thread over in the Organic Growing section later today. I gotta see a customer in an hour.

One more thing about me er'body...
Irrigation is MY WORLD! I been at it over 15 years and am considered a bona fide nerd when it comes to water efficiency. I do everything from sprinklers to subsurface drip for lawns, raised bed drip, square foot garden drip (yes it's different/better), fertigation, etc

I have my own thoughts about "watering living soil in fabric pots" that I'll talk about later. I gotta run or I'll be late.

Hey Folks, I'm a "kinda" knowledgeable guy that had a grow experience about five years ago that was up and down. It was a partnership that fizzled. The only good thing I got outta that experience was a nice jar of Chernobyl. The rest of the lines we ran got mold. We didn't have a dehuey or much growing experience. That Chernobyl that survived was outstanding and I was determined to grow it again someday...

That day has come as I have some of BobBitchen's Slymer S1's on the way (Golden Ticket "cut" of Chernobyl that he selfed). I don't know much about S1's but suspect there will still be some variation among the offspring. At least they'll all be females ?.

Besides the Slymer, I'm popping some Cinderella99 F?'s from FleurDuMal with his General's Daughter (C99 x G13). I have some AK47 f2's from Joey (HempDepot) and Mikado bx I want to try but don't want to overwhelm myself ?.

I'm thinking about the leanest way to go about "the hunt" with regard to sequence of events. I really don't want to WASTE ANY TIME and want to get the Slymer to the finish line "first and fast" since that's fem... the rest are reg's. I'm gonna want help choosing pots and mediums, and maybe nutes (sidebar... K.I.S.S. using just Maxibloom worked GREAT five years ago. I notice folks blending the grow and bloom now through 2nd week of flower. Any of y'all have an opinion [ut oh?] on using K.I.S.S. in Coco for this pheno hunt?

I've got a 2x4 veg tent and the flower room will have two Gavita 1700e's side by side in a 4.5' x 9' footprint when I start putting it together next week. Adding a 3rd 1700 once the hunt is complete and I have some solid mothers to clone from.

So that's my intro and I stand behind it ?. Any input/questions on the strains, lights, setup, etc are welcome and appreciated. Thanks Folks!

Just regularly monitor any heating units you use. This includes the power cable/plug, making sure it doesn't get too hot or starts discoloring, smelling, etc. The main concern with these units is the plug IMO. Sometimes they cheap out on those plugs.
Then just go buy a 14g, 12g or 10g power cord tail with appropriate NEMA cord or plug end (M or F) and replace it...problem solved no need to watch or worry....
