If I don't find anymore males or take any more out for seed production (I very well may take a few more) I've got 15 plants to flower. I'll be making a lot of hash.

The GDPx girls got spread out

Being a winter grow with approximately 10.5 hrs of light a day I know not to expect the buds to be near as large as if it were sunner but the colors should be stunning as the weather cools. We're already getting mid to low 40's at night and that should continue for the next several months. Usually mid February to March is when the night temps drop to at or near freezing but the greenhouses help protect the plants.
Friggin love it mang, awesome watching the hunt progress along.

Seeds from Thanksgiving be poppin'
20211201_090937.jpg
4 of the Funky Runt hermie frosty af seeds so 4 girls. I'm gonna order some colloidal silver and make sure I get plenty more fem seeds from these girls.

Gherry's (4)

T99's (4)
20211201_090721.jpg
I wonder where else I can use that silver? The West side is set. Found another male Gherry, nicer then the first so now I've got another threesome going on under the loquat tree. I'll clip the first male after work.

GDP
20211201_090825.jpg

GDPx (5)
20211201_090844.jpg
The East side still needs a little work. I'll move a couple of those tall GDPx's over to the little greenhouse and I want to get that GDP her own spot, otherwise this is how it will be for the next 2 months. On the way to Frostyland just in time for Christmas?

I wondered about autos for a long time before finally getting some seeds of a reg cross. Can't just start with actually autos BUT! I'm glad it worked out this way. This has been a blast and I always learn more when I get my hands dirty.

My f1 grow resulted in 11 plants, 10 in soil all the same pheno and all auto and 1 in coco that was a reg female. My f2 was again 11 plants all coco this time and produced 3 auto phenos and one reg, a beautiful male that is helping to produce my GDP autos and I'm crossing it with GDP just for fun to see what I get.

One of the f2 autos, a beautiful sativa leaner

She can come down anytime now. At 103 days old she's the last f2 standing. Her sisters trichs when opaque and stayed that way, never getting darker. It was kinda weird for a month straight looking for amber and she wasn't around? Don't matter, both her sisters hit like a freight train so ?

Nothing but happy with what I got even though it wasn't much this time around. Half oz off Funky Runt (jarred and saving for special days) and a little over 1.5 oz from her sis who suffered PM a few days before I took her down. I haven't found any on the buds even though I'm sure there must be some. I caught it right away, I take an inordinate amount of pics to document what's happening cause let's face it, without pics i couldn't remember what i had for dinner 2 nights ago?

Not much to report today other then I clipped the lesser Gherry male

under the loquat tree, haven't moved the GDPx's but just took this pic
20211202_083750.jpg
of a GDPx male's top flower and loving the colors.

Being satellites I have to mix a gallon bottle of water/nutes and water them by hand each day (although the above is on a tap water drip line 10 min every other day). A lot of care is needed so I don't carry pollen around so I also make them my last stop when checking things out first thing in the morning and last check at night.

What an awesome day. 6 of 7 Funky Runt auto seeds have popped
20211202_142030.jpg
and my first client tips me a pair of tix to visit the USS Midway Museum
Been wanting to go for several years.

I had to take a pic of the other GDPx male top flower this afternoon
20211202_142642.jpg
I didn't get as close as I don't want to track any pollen into the greenhouses. Just beautiful. I'm seeing a little red in the leaf stems of all of them, even if they hadn't exhibited it before but the color in the male flowers is new with this generation.

One of the LA Woman seedlings isn't doing well
20211202_142102.jpg
Looks like a reaction to the nutes yet it's the only one

Time to start whittling down their numbers anyway.

Time to get blazed. Light 'em up!

I think it's time to move her to the patio and start flushing

Magnum Flames auto 105 days since seed pop. After work I'll move her down.

20211203_070537.jpg
These GDPx's have to be the prettiest males I've ever grown.

Automation is the way to go
20211202_142438.jpg
I can't imagine ever going back to hand watering and can't believe I did my first 4 coco grows by hand. I am currently hand watering the breeders (12) but it's only twice a day and I can get away with once a day.

Pretty overcast this morning and looks like we'll get some lite rain in the next week. First weekend of the month and the to do list begins.

Gotta plant these Funky Runts
20211203_094401.jpg
None of the other 24 regular Magnum Flames auto seeds have popped. I didn't have time to sit them in the fridge for a few days. Oh well, a few may pop yet and I only really want/need is 5-10 plants a month so these 6 will work if no more join the party and, these are hermie fems. I'm going to herm them and make me more seeds. Only got 21 seeds off their mom and the smoke kicks my ass. More please!

Move these LA Women off my tray to the lower level, adjust lights and run tubing.
20211202_142108.jpg

Take more clones

The yellowing is from the LEDs in the pic, not actual color. Here's a close up
20211203_081249.jpg
I find the colors in this GDP strain beautiful. The pinks and reds will eventually give way to purple. Amazing.

Wish I didn't have to work today and could spend all day playing with the plants. Such is life...

This is with a flash which better shows the colors. I'm currently obsessed with these males

When it's time to take them down in about 2 weeks I'll be sad for a few days.

Is getting a lot of my attention sitting on the patio. I'll run bottled water through her pot for the next several days. She's starting to develop that funky smell like her sisters and I really like that.

I'm beginning to question
20211204_091546.jpg
The sex on these Gherry's. The 2 on the left I'm not sure about at all and the second from the right might be male. Gotta grab my glasses and the loop next time I trek up there today. I hate getting old.

I've got sexual reproduction going on all over the back yard

Very nice looking male
I've been on other sites where males are unwanted. Anyone can buy some seeds and grow plants, whether weed or tomatoes but developing and/or improving existing plant strains is a challenge and worth the time. Genetics have always fascinated me and my work on this GDP strain is paying off. It's really just from me being observant of the different phenos it has produced. And now, after 4 generations I have a plant that exhibits the red color in the stems and new shoots (pink there mainly) and even in the male flowers now. F1's had a little red in a few stems.

Can't wait for this summer when I'll have GDP everywhere and will definitely be making enough seeds to share with whomever may like.

Magnum Flames auto day 116

20211204_161123.jpg
Seemed to take forever for an auto and still a few more days of flushing. Glad I didn't seed her as I'd never use them, too long to finish.

The smell on her is amazing and that's just been the past few days. That Funky nasty, then sweet and yeah, good. Weird but nice.

I've stuck my nose in those buds several times today and right now it's all I can smell and I really like that?

The next generation
20211204_162401.jpg
5 from her sister Funky Runt, a genetically deformed plant that hermied yet was frosty and delish, ready in 90 days and rocks my world and I've been smoking GDP, LA Woman and Gherry the past couple months.

I also planted 24 from Pheno #1 and none popped. I got a lot of seeds and they've been hardened off now. I'll plant more Dec 25th.

GDP male
20211205_075043.jpg
Only 2 of 6 plants had the red in the stems and they were both females and both are being used as moms. When I started working this strain I never even considered the males.

The GDP female with him is only showing a pink tint
20211205_075116.jpg
But the GDP x auto cross produced approx 50% of red offspring
20211205_080808.jpg
and produced large fast growing plants.

I sure wish I could retire and work with this plant all day every day.

Happy Sunday!

20211206_083251.jpg
with the male Magnum Flames auto. She's on the right, GDP in front and GDPx on left. He does not express the auto gene. He sat under an LED porch light for weeks without showing gender. I moved him away from the light and he formed balls within a week.

He is believed to come from Dragons Flame Genetics Dragons Flame Genetics :: Breeder Info & Cannabis Strains
One of their named Dragon strains. I have no clue which one and I had never heard of DF Genetics.

Magnum auto Magnum Automatic / MSNL strain info - GrowDiaries is well known yet with a mysterious background itself.

He's the closest thing I got to a sativa so what the hell. TMagnum, Magnum99? Who cares but I bet it's gonna be good?

The three T99's don't care
20211207_064517.jpg
They're still busy stretching but they're all girl.

The rest are doing as expected
20211207_064359.jpg
Here's one of the GDPx (non red) top flower. I'm really liking this first cross with the auto. I'm hoping some have the grape profile and other this funky kinda nasty like a dirty kitchen sink (it's not good) and then a sweetness overlaps that nasty and you want MORE! It's crazy and I've been burying my nose in this girl
20211207_063736.jpg
I can't get enough. Before I leave for work I'm going to bury my nose in her again and enjoy her send while it lasts.

Life is good?

I never thought I'd see 60 let alone 63. Holy shit I'm old. Thought about fishing today but instead I ain't going do shit but play in the garden and smoke all day. Got that Funky Runt jarred and waiting. But first I need to spend about 30 minutes in my vibrating/heating anti gravity chair. I hate getting old. Like I and Igor always say, could be worse...

I've been fighting PM forever on peas and beans and trying out Growers Ally Fungicide
Direct to Grower | Grower's Ally
Seems to work well on my Sweet Peas
20211208_072156.jpg
I saw it start on top
20211208_072221.jpg
I had sprayed it with Capt Jack's which was helping but Grower's Ally knocked it out.

Lightly sprayed the MF yesterday and it looks clean where I sprayed
20211208_070459.jpg
I didn't spray the back side and look
20211208_072412.jpg
I mixed 5.5 ml in 16 oz bottled water.

Active ingredient is citric acid.

I'll spray them both again this weekend. I'm in no rush to take her down
20211208_070444.jpg
and since I'm going to have to deal with fungus among us I'll keep her going a while longer. I'm smoking one of her sisters today and she smells just like her.

The next generation
20211208_074132.jpg
Slow growing in this current cold spell. Mid 40's at night soon mid 30's. For us it's a COLD spell. As long as it stays above freezing they should be okay. Odd deformity or difficult exit from the seed on the one still in the peat pot. Their mom was deformed so here we are. I'll never cross this line and will replace it soon in my monthly auto grow. I'm smoking mom now and couldn't be happier with the taste and high but yeah, it will have to go.

Gherry x Gherry, GDPx
Magnum Flames x GDP, GDPx, Tangie 99
GDPx x GDPx (reds) x's 2

I should be set for a few grows?

Thanks man. I am having way too much fun. For most of my life this plant was illegal and most of those years I'd only grow in summer 1-3 hidden behind trees and bushes. Never allowing the plants to realise their full potential.

I'm living some of the fantasies I use to have watching those plants grow and hoping no one saw them or me.

It's the middle of December and I'm making a thousand plus seeds with 10 females, and not with "bag seed #1" etc. I got pretty good stuff that works and makes me happy AND it's a hobby that takes time, thought and care which is something we humans are wired for.

It's an all around win win. Now my fantasies about sales have been blown away. I figured it would be regulated like alcohol, sold in liquor stores like cigs in packs of 20. I'm really happy we have dispensaries. I don't use them any longer but I use to and there's still some good smoke there and the frickin concentrates, OMG. I make hash, tincture and coconut oil caps but the BHO and waxes are pretty good?

So I'm livin' the Dream?

I love this strain. Purple buds with a grape smell and flavor. A strong indica that can knock you down hard. Of 6 seedlings these 2 displayed the red color I've been breeding for. The leaf damage on the second one was from the 55 gallon barrel not being cleaned out in over 8 months. The other plant started clawing and an LA Woman seedling leaf curled up. The barrel was nasty with a quarter inch of salts and calcium on the bottom and algae growth on the sides. Cleaned it out and now everyone is happy. I could clip the leaves but it's a reminder of the fact that I've got to clean it out every 2-3 months. D'OH!

Slow growing with our cold spell. Sunny this morning after a week of overcast and some rain but I see more clouds coming in from the coast and forecast is calling for mid 30's tonight, continuing cloud cover and more rain next week. I was really hoping for a dry winter.

These poor MF auto seedlings are really slow to get going. They did pop on the 1st

I've got to order a couple seed warming mats

20211210_100239.jpg Magnum Flames autos F3. Seeds planted 15 days ago on Thanksgiving, Nov 25th. The seeds were shucked the day before. I guess they needed to be hardened off. Gotta love it. So much for my idea of planting so seeds pop on/about the first of the month.?
