Recommendation for a 2x4 tent, seed to harvest lights...

Hiya fellow hunters.

Time has come to up the game a bit.

Never grown with leds. Torn between LEDs and CMH.

due to 2x4 tents rectangular shape, I have a few options I think.. here are some ideas, feel free to give input, suggestions etc..

A: QB like HLG´s 320W LED V2 R SPEC XL KIT (600+ usd locally sourced, abt the same if ordered from USA with all new vAT and Taxes.. edit: out of my budget, but doable, found a cheaper HLG QB added to post ) ..or Pre-assembled King Brite 320W led grow light, LM301H 4000K+Cree Royal 460nm Blue led (less than 400 usd if ordered from Alibaba, I live in EU, and I might not opt for blue leds...) EDIT: Perhaps a HLG 260W LED V2 RSPEC BOARD XL KIT for 470usd (locally from a store..)

B: Led strips, like Kingbrite 320W Strips LM301H/LM301B with deep red CREE XP-E2 660nm (better coverage looks like) or Mars Hydro SP 3000 Led Grow Light Full Spectrum Samsungled Meanwell Driver (could get a sweet deal locally, 450 $, might need another for coverage? too much light for 2x4 with 2 of these tho?)

C: 2x square leds like TS1000 from mars hydro.. (benefits: could be height adjusted for different strains, price about the same as examples above.. cons: no meanwell, epistar and old tech) 2xHLG 135W QB v2 rspec kit (locally 197$, so both around 400 usd) less watts tho

D: DIY kit from scratch (cons: lack of skills, clueless about what parts to get, way cheaper tho..)

E: 315W CMH, sweet deal 335$ for a horizontal fixture locally, dimmable too... Or get a horizontal fixture/hood.. pricier tho) Could later on spice it up with a led bar.. Or perhaps one HLG 135w kit..
cons: light coverage not ideal for 2x4 ?

F: ?

Any ideas very welcome...

Ideally would like to veg and bloom with one light, budget is max 400 Euros (around 470 usd) with all taxes and VATs included.. Happier if lower price naturally.

CHOOSE YOUR TITLE
I run them
I also run Hlg
The biggest thing for you is where your at..
Hlg. For you would be 3rd party buy and if you needed war. Down the road you may have to deal with a few people.
Kingbrite would be 1 company that you got it from...

Kingbrite is way more bang for the buck... they run great and it leaves you money for other things...

If you can build one that’s what I would do UCANDEWIT on eBay or growdaddyleds.com I think his website is or go through @TerpyTyrone they are pretty awesome lights this is my veg light from Ucandewit it’s awesome but he could make it full spectrum or whatever you wanted you could get build one for a 2 x 4 for a little over $200 I think mines was $220 or $240 and that comes with everything lights driver literally everything C706DF22-4C02-4F22-AD88-ACA01A605CE9.jpeg AC736E14-4184-4E3C-B667-3DE073223F77.jpeg

I also have a 2x4 tent I am looking to upgrade, and I've been looking at the KB strip kits, the 320W kit for a 2x4, and the 480W kit for a 4x4 but with 2 additional 2" track sections thrown in. That way I would get 480W, 4 strips, but mounted on 2" rails.

That'd give me 60W/ft² in that 2x4 tent if I go the 2nd option. I actually asked them if I can buy a couple extra 2" sections with the 4x4 kit and they were cool with that. I just have to pull the trigger on the invoice she sent me.

My KB 4x288 4000K panel kit in my 4x4, with no supplemental spectrum boost (no UV, no IR, no far red) absolutely smokes, it grows beautiful plants, even at only 30W/ft² maxed out. You won't be disappointed with KB, no matter the configuration you go with. Quality stuff. I have been using Meijiu and KB boards for some time now and I am loving them.

Best of luck with your choice.

@DavidDellaRocco Is this option a diy or does KB have it on Ali? edit: waayyy too many options on ali for me now. need to take a nap before I make any decisions...perhaps chat with a rep..

Good feedback, also from @Meatman much appreciated.

I will always recommend the lights from Peter that’s Ucandewit he is a bad ass dude you can call him and talk to him right on the phone I text him with questions all the time and he text me right back I have 3 light kits I’ve got from him and they are all so bad ass
If I lived in USA it would be a no-brainer.. Getting stuff to Europe straight from China vs few middlemen from USA seems better for me trying to save a buck.. I´ll take a look at his wares..

Oh shit sorry I never even read that I bet shipping would be extremely expensive….that kingbrite for 175 looks like a pretty screaming deal I’d look into that for sure too

One viable option would be to diy build/ask KB for a custom piece using 70w 1.8ft strips and have them on a 4 ft rails, but I suck at diy, especially electronics. More research needed. Luckily I am not in a hurry, but thought next week would be sweet time to make decisions and an order..

In a pinch that @Capt's Farm cheap suggestions sounds great, would 2 of them side by side be too much? (640w :mesmerizied::flame::ohhh::stoned:) 1 in 3k other in 4k? Both 3,5k ? 2x 3k? Not too worried abt temps nor height. I guess drivers can be installed outside the tent too..

If you go into the Categories section while on KB's profile, it shows all the available kits.
You can also piece it together yourself, but those all in one kits are just worth it I think. Even drivers have so many options, different configs, so you add that to the other options and it can be overwhelming, and trying to piece a kit together can be tricky. The all-in-one kits have the right driver matched to the right number of strips etc etc......

Best bet is to chat with them. Tell them what you want, watts, spectrum and additional boost (UV,IR etc), kit size/dimensions and then let them send you a link or invoice.
You are right, Alibaba sellers make it a little overwhelming (both Meijiu and KB are guilty of it) but once you settle in and figure it out, it's not so bad.

Anyways, have a good rest before you decide on anything.

You won’t go wrong with 240-320W of boards or cobs. I’d recommend DIY if its boards they’re very easy and any local machine shop will cut you a piece of 1/4” sheet for cheap. Just get boards, driver, hangers, and hit home depot/machine shop for rest. Dimmable is no problem if you get a good driver, the mean wells go from 50-100% with the twist of a screw. Good luck and hit me up if you have any questions.

Drill Bit, Nuts and Bolts, Wiring, Power Cord, Aircraft Cables (so easy), misc. Its really easy I’m not oversimplifying it.. No soldering required unless you wanna do the power cord but its not necessary. Strip a few wires, drill a few holes, and it’s no harder than putting together an Ikea kit.

Lots of great options...

2 x 4 i think is ideally covered with the Timber 3VL and i would get it in 3500 for start to finish.

And the new Cypress lights
