Roz's wasted wormery!

In Bloom
Man, Roz I wish I had started mine sooner. I'm really enjoying my first worm bin.
And, with starting bokashi buckets also, it is straining our kitchen waste pile also.
I'm looking at 3 options, without Jims expensive feed. I only give them a little of that, and really shoot for all scrap feeding.
So, years ago, I found a seam of folks wanting seed sprouts, for health aids.
So, in quart size mason jars, and straining lids, about 2-3 tbls of seed, would fill up a jar with sprouts, in a few days.
Being so tiny, they would go (bad) quickly, (bad), would close to perfect to feed my worm nation, or with a day of rot time, be may perfect for them.
I'm going to try a jar today, to see, if it's an option for me.
Or, I'll walk up to the coffee/sandwich shop, and see if I can scrounge some their wet garbage pile.
The last thing for me to try and make some worm chow, as I did see there is a YT about it.
Thanks to your thread, worm ranching maybe a long time hobby for me!! LOL!!

gave them a turn over roz, this is what I have left after adding some wet newspaper. Some canna branches I didn't expect to be chowed and.most of it like this. Not far off collecting and sifting three bins that look like this mate? Or a bit to go. Have about 180lt in three bins at this stage. Very keen to get it into my indoor living soil. Thoughts mate? I think im maybe a month away harvesting and resetting

worms that are compost worms aren’t as “ territorial” to others/worms meaning the worms are more down to handlempre diversity of enviromental things and more worms in their zone vs many of tradional worms . it’s also interesting that once there’s to many in a zone they stop reproducing . i would make another bin or add some of ur population to ur pots. it amazes me even if u add me to 1 gal even if fresh you will have a huge population in those pots quite quickly and also help with soo much.

i used to sift my worms but realizing their reproductive advantages I have np giving more worms everywhere and they are crazy adaptable but also love wanting more zones to be. key is to add lots of organics and food for those worms to leave and also keep medium moist, sorry if u weren’t asking this or as a suggestion.

Cheers bh, they get leftover produce every night when kids have a little leftover veggies. I'll get the bin sorted and start adding away it seems. Thanks for the tips

I don’t waste a single thing at home for my compost tower . I also scab all the scraps from work , freeze them and transport them home as well to be mixed in with my dry leaves , lawn clippings etc . If you have these things in and around your yard your missing an opportunity to enhance your soil in numerous ways . When worm numbers build I simply transfer a couple buckets of compost into a new tower and away it goes again . Much like BH described . Keep a lid on it though to reduce gnat intrusion .
