Do to the fact I've lost so many family members to cancer and my father now with horrible skin cancer.My wife already been thru a round of chemo pills for breast cancer and would never do that again..Ive decided to look into making RSO... Looking online if course there is always so many different methods for doing things ..altho making RSO these methods are similar and simple..That being said. What do any of you guys advise for a solvent..I've seen 99.9 iso....seen do not use iso..seen everclear..which is not sold around here..but I do have a still I can pull solid 180 proof thru..DO YOU DECARB? Can't find a clear answer..Being that I love you grow and do not sell most of my family always has smoke but the way cancer runs thrus my family why not make some valuable meds to pass along that may just save a life....Any recipes or DIRECT ? experience with RSO would be extremely appreciated.

I'm a concentrate feind lol.
I also like simple process' though I do have the proper equipment to pull oil down I prefer my easy method.

The best RSO comes from the best flowers.
I use MB's Decarb boxes for my decarb work in the oven, they come with digital thermometers and will hold 4 z's.
I do or don't pregrind, depends if my hands are hurting that mornin lol.
After the decard I cool before opening and then 4 0zs into a 1/2 gallon mason jar and cover about 1 inch with 190 proof ethanol, this is when I'll crush the dried bud if I didn't pregrind.
I cap this a shake real good then get a 4qr sauce pan , sot the mason jar into it and add hot water till it's about 2" up the jar.
Turn on the heat loosen the lid and bring the water up to boil, when I see the ethanol begin to boil I bring the heat down to keep a rollin boil goin in the jar for 20 minutes.
Filter the tincture from the flower.
From this point on any place you can stop depending on your type product needed.
This product will not only get ya high but also lit!
But,,, I next break out the 4qt rice cooker, fill with tincture and let her rip.
I put a small fan blowin past the cooker towards a window.
Keep adding tincture as it reduces.
I like to go until I begin to see solids appear on the surface, at this point nearly all ethanol is gone, maybe 1% by volume left, just enough to keep it liquid for dosing.
A bit longer and it will turn to solid tar.
Your preferance and ease of use.

I've made a version of RSO many times. I do decarb my flower first. I use everclear as a solvent. I do the three jar method. Freeze jars and everclear for 24 hours before. Put about 1/2 oz in a jar and cover flower with everclear. Softly slosh the jar around for 15 seconds and strain into second jar through an unbleached coffee filter. Repeat in second jar and strain into third jar then again and pour into a pyrex dish to evaporate all remaining everclear. Scrape up what remains and you have RSO.

@Skunky Dunk Farms @Smokieokie Both seem simple enough and may be my new method to medicate.. Asthma getting the absolute best of me these days and my recent bout with bronchitis had left me completely smokeless and vapeless for more than a week now and well..I don't have to explain how that makes me feel...Thanks guys..I definitely have some quality flower that's always stashed up..Hell cheap as weed is right now could make quite a bit of meds if it works out... Hopefully I get it right the first time

for medical/need of higher dosage and if your growing I would highly suggest people make rso extracts of 1/3 cbd, cbg and delta 9/thc bud/kief in same jar, if having kief add a few spoons of that too and I def noitced the Boost! ethier way rso is a great and if people would try it I think a lot woild realize how much u can intake vs if u smoked strongest weed, it’s not the same effects too and for many people they need that longer lasting effects . I know many times or when I’m a sleeping I obviously can’t be toking

For a easy access to get safe alcohol ethier buy food grade or drinking booz , key is it needs to be above 75% in alcohol concentration , under that I wasn’t seeing the super dark extract no matter how long I tried) . What I do is i buy the cheap 40% 20 buck per gallon vodka, than distill it to 80-90%. This process to get 2 gallons into 1 gal of desired is a fe hrs to do. But it’s def worth it! Don’t have a extraction lic and my state doesn’t supply booz at the higher alcohol rate that’s consumable.

I would never endorse someone to use iso alcohol , cheaper and easy to buy and yes people have many guides on to do that but any of that left i your extract. It’s poison and to make medicine , that’s just asking for isssues and what if’s. For price , For all the effort to get this done and bud. Don’t skip and use iso and try to remove it! just saying cause I see so many guides online they make it sound like that’s the way to do it and it’s np. also having safe alcohol instead u can leave a little alcohol left and use it without That worry (iso) and will be way easier to use vs pure oil. Another point is your getting that extracted alcohol back to redo the process and again and again.

One of the differance I see on many guides is timing of when extract is done ( when it’s in the jar) . I will every few days I will shake the jars, leave 10%ish space in the jar to be able to shake it good and hard, make sure to not use metal lids,I always get them “locked” on. I know the extraction strengeth just by color, darker the better!

yes i prefreeze my jar and i have tried also leaving jars in freezer for long periods with bud and shaking daily but tbh I just didn't see much differance and freezer space is essential.


since I have so many small buds from my rounds and my patients need this method and myself I have many in limbo in jars to always guratee it’s ready.

i than use my distiller to remove the booz ( i First filter and squeeze the booz from the bud and compost the bud/feed to worms) and I keep 5%-15 of the booz left in the rso so i can have it as a easy to use product and remove the step of measuring and making pill versions . having a ml measure dripper is all u need . A huge bonus vs edibles in rso is the faster intake and if a person doesn’t want calories or that extra food to have for ur meds.

I cant get everclear hear...But I do have a still... Actually looked last night and I have a full gal that's marked 182 proof..I'll have to drop the alcometer in to double check. Hell it's been probably two years ago I made that...I don't run much anymore but I used to cut back to 110 proof with distilled water...Run it thru the carbon filter and soak it in charred oak chips for about 4 months...I just don't drink much liquor anymore..but I guess I found a new purpose to run a small batch

That would be sufficient...My pot is 8 gallon...If I run slow and tight I can pull a full gallon of 190 proof in one run..That dady yeast they have these days really jacks the mash/Sugar wash

Are you in Canada?

strathcona spirits out of Alberta has 192 grain liquor...4 litres for around 200 delivered if i remember.

I use a closed loop extractor and just use it over and over. I like it in caps for sleep.

a gallon of 190 proof in one run? that get's my attention.......can you expand a bit on both your equipment and process?
@Willie Super simple..I've been running for many years...Last 4 yrs really slowed down tho..Start by making a basic sugar wash..Sugar/water/yeast..and some yeast nutrients..I always add more sugar than called for.. Below is the still I use...I've owned and ran three different stills and this reflux still is the only one that would pull over 190 dialed in..The other two right around 160.. Everything can be purchased at Brewhaus online .They have cheaper version of this still that will also pull 190+..My brother has one..The dady yeast is the best I've used and gives high alcohol content to your mash/wash from the start..
The speed of your drip and or needle type flow is controlled by two simple valves that control the flow of cooling water...The water is just a sink filled in the kitchen and the waste water just flows down the drain in the other sink.. They sell electric rings that wrap around the pot so heating is a breeze..Calls for one ring. I bought two..Having a drip in 20 minutes sure beat the hour and half I was waiting using propane..dial them valves in to a steady fast drip and you are pulling 190+...when the gallon jug is almost full I usually replace with a empty jug and jack the heat and let her flow...This starts running about 170 proof all the way down to about 70 proof....seems like after 70 proof it drops off super fast so I stop..as the alcohol depletes from the mash..I just add that jug back into the next run..I have a distillers parrot so the from the still it drips into the parrot and from the parrot into the jar...You float a alcometer in the parrot and get a exact reading of alcohol proof the entire time..You don't need the parrot...After awhile you can taste the difference or even smell the difference..or pull sample and use the alcometer separate (I did add a valve at the end of the waste water..I prefer to control it more from there Screenshot_2022-06-24-09-13-15-954.jpg Screenshot_2022-06-24-09-12-00-759.jpg Screenshot_2022-06-24-09-10-58-676.jpg

The simplicity of this still is amazing..The way the cooling system is set up on this the faster you let the cooling water come thru the slower the drip and the high the alcohol content

Sorry about your Dad bro; Sounds like everyone already has this answered for you which is good, because I haven't ever attempted to make RSO before; Now I've known a few Moonshiners in my day so getting good corn liquor isn't usually an issue for me, and I'm pretty sure you've seen the Murder Mitten Moonshine and the "Ole Smokey" they sell around here, but getting a good proof.... That Ole Smokey is like sickly sweet at only 100 proof. Best I've had was 191 proof home made at a camp ground near by and it was awesome. I've had RSO once in a gummy and that was it. I ended up eating 3 Whoppers and fries that day so be careful LOL.

I feel like BH had great advice on adding more than just THC to that; CBD and CGB and a multitude of other parts of the plant would make a much more well rounded medication. I myself am going to be trying a CBD type strain for my first time as soon as I can. I don't have Cancer but I did watch my Grandpa die from it when I was little, and I totally understand why you'd want to go this route. I also had an Uncle who's passed on, who had Seizures literally the whole time I knew him. The medications weren't exactly great either; Shit was crazy being a little kid and watching a grown man just drop to the ground and start shaking and knocking shit over, and then meds he was on.... Yeah, I'm glad we are now in a World that doesn't see Cannabis the same as it did when I was a kid. Seriously once that happened it was like he wasn't even there.... Hope you got this worked out brother.

I don’t have a still setup (yet) so I have to find a solvent that I can buy for now cuz real Everclear is not available in my state. Please PM me if you have any insight on this.
Based on posts, seems like dry plant material will work, no need to have it “fresh” and not dry?

Sorry to hear you have to make it at all.

For RSO decarb the material first works a lot better. I use an Ardent FX and decarb it.

Everclear and Alcool 94 are stupid expensive here. So I order 4 litres of Strathcona Spirits 96 % Grain Liquor...225 Cdn right to my door.


If you are in the USA there is a product made specifically for the source turbo. It is a lot cheaper. It is the same idea as what I use but made in the usa

200 Proof Pure USP Grade Ethanol (Extract Craft Special) Someone can correct me if i am wrong but this should work for RSO?
5 gallon pail for 150 USD seems not too shabby (they sell gallons too, ship all over usa)

Because it was so expensive , and if you catch something on fire here making a concentrate...well you will be a front page example...so I got a source turbo

500ml mason jar....fill it as much as i can with decarbed buds...(frozen)...put grain liquor from the freezer and back in the freezer for 1 hour...strain and run through the source turbo.

I run it til i purge it and then i purge it. It comes out like hash oil and for under the tongue i will thin it out with grape seed oil in a dropper bottle. Or just eat it.
I just like RSO...I do not need it medically. But I make it from time to time for people that do. Put it in caps so they can take it easier (thinned out with grape seed oil or avacado)


And its not deja vu...i did answer this before... :eek:

from alive aka wet product to dry, all can work for rso, I even use my budrot if found for rso

Like I said above, my state does not sell above 75%, what I did is buy 45% cheap vodka and distilled it to above 75%, than once u got that u can get 90% back after every distill after rso extrction . Key is to proactive the herb


for a half gallon it’s like 10-15 bucks, so it wasn’t as costly to do it vs drive states over to get over 75%. Key is to distill and save ya booz after
