I live in a high risk fire area in California & as of last year started getting power shutdowns for so far up to 3 days I've gotten by using an 1800w. to keep our freezer & fridge surviving but little else I got this 4000w. generac for nothing so I went & pulled it out of a rodeo horse trailer with living quarters it has electric start & a fuel pump I've gotta put a muffler setup on it as well as a wheel kit gonna set it up for my outboard boat tanks its heavy duty & outweighs the 5000w generator I used to have I'll post pics as it comes together 20200625_210302.jpg 20200625_210328.jpg 20200625_210340.jpg 20200625_210403.jpg 20200625_210549.jpg

Looks to be the intake. Makes since on a enclosed model to make sure there is no way for fumes to ignite. But Idk.

Almost more like a shared air box...is odd. Could it do with RV being used in diffrent elevations. Helps buffer for elevation?

Yeah, I saw the paper filter attached, and the carb looks to be nearby.
Backfire shunt ?
Looks like a manual fuel pump camp stove contraption.
I really have no idea. Looks just past oil bath tech.
I would enjoy reading any lit. on that beast

I bet she runs better then most engines today lol. Only thing I would worry is that how consistently it delivers power.

You, an which army ?
I can’t stop staring at it. That is stout.
I love a classy, brassy chassis.

The fuel tank sits below the controls. ?
What is the sardine can swedged in the middle ?

Fascinating.
I believe it's part of the induction system for the air cleaner it is quite a bit stouter & heavier duty than newer models this one leans more to the industrial side it runs good the gas tank is remote I'm using a 12gal. boat tank I have as a spare for my boat when they cut power local gas gets hard to get too we've already had 2 fires this year 4 years ago a large fire made it to 1/2 our house we had to evacuate in the middle of the night in a travel trailer once I got it in a safe spot I snuck back in to guard from looters

Yes even though lights can be dimmed they still deliver correct voltage to the regulator/pot. So it's a consistent voltage. Voltage drop is much worse in today's world rather then 30 years ago.

That's exactly what I think it is I've seen similar stuff on marine engines never made the army lol I have the model # & I'm gonna research it my guess it's from the late 70`s there are some electronic components on it I have 2 other generators but nothing heavy duty as this

I ran it a few times it was my sister's she didn't like the loudness & replaced it with a smaller Honda in these years they had solid windings all copper in the critical spots the plan is to get this up & use my old one for a spare generac & onan make good Generators still today if this don't work I'm buying a new generac

That's intense as fuck man, I couldn't imagine. Covid 19 is the only thing that's happened here in 30 years that changed anything. Crazy shit

Where the hell is the exhaust ?
The exhaust goes strait down between the motor & the generator unit & exits the bottom takes a 90 degree turn to a muffler that runs parallel with both units on the bottom much like a car this was originally built for motorhomes the air intake for cooling the engine is on the bottom as well I plan on posting pictures as I put her together
