Yawn really, currently this is most talked thread on here, why? It’s like a person who can barely sing and says they will go to Hollywood or w/e and become a super star.. yeah I’ll love to see YOU do it. your really talking in circles of what if’s and fantasy of finding a bag seed, well yeah it happens but so does many things by luck. it’s just the % by even using freebies , testers or cheap breeders vs bag seed Keeper gem…There’s no logical point exp if ur on ph u can def get seeds. Yes ur point is luck will show it, well do it than and why do u need others to pat ur back to help ur confidence? I’ll be honest I don’t think it’s the best way to find pheno’s for home growers in modern day and I disagree it’s a better plan to find a pheno vs even freebie breeder testers. I think even if u had bad results on that u def can by % have a better pheno found vs pissing in the wind with what if’s and magical hermie pollen orgy seeds…
to grow a high risk seed ur really willing to risk 3-6 months to grow ur seeds, why gamble with shitty results when u can find gems or at least stable stuff for super cheap/pennies per seed. Just saying yeah I can fuck around with bag seed but inless I’m growing acres and power is free the seeds is bottom of the list of what I’m worried about in price to risk using very possible hermie prone seeds?
it’s so easy to find a good runnable and stable pheno in a lot of packs now, I’m good on donating to a breeder or testing it vs a bag seed. i kept a lot of bag seeds back in the day but man it def would have to be something and It would have to be a narrowed down hermie who got her to als0 with confidence to know she’s worthy cross.
i get people want to find their own gear but man this is the time to be able to do that so easily, I remeber back in the days where people would have to use bag seed and also buy from some preety sketchy breeders and seedbanks . There was reasons why it sucked and I can get why u would use bag seeds than. Not now ( for 99.9%) of growers, exp newbies cause genetics def makes 30%+ results and a bad hermie/unstable def can bust ya balls

Haha.I can agree with this, and still run bag seed, but, there's variables here in my opinion of course; People on here are beyond generous with their seeds, so I can also agree that if someone is spending their time growing and expecting GOOD results from their efforts, I'd say don't bother with bag seed, get you some of these WONDERFUL and STABLE strains that a bunch of people on here are breeding, and get yourself some actual results. As BH is saying there, we don't HAVE to do this anymore as it's no longer a major crime to have a plant in most of the country now.
the reason I myself am totally OK with running hermied bag seed, is mainly because I simply can't afford all the genetics I need to run. Don't get me wrong, if I was simply smoking to get stoned and nothing more I'd never run them, I've now got actual stable genetics for the first time in my life and enough of them that I can run nothing but the best. Now in my particular case, which is probably a bit different from someone just trying to run a decent grow, I have specific needs and I can't afford every strain I want to run. Hermie seeds have lead to GG, and every Chemdog I can think of (If we are to believe the magic 13 beans in the magic 600 dollar ounce of the original Chemdog / Dog Bud whatever it is) so good things have happened with bag seed.
Back when I didn't smoke much or care about strain names, it didn't matter to me what it was, but as soon as I started trying strains that helped me medically, I started caring. No surprise the first time I ever cared about a strain name was literally the first time I tried Blue Cheese (Yeah shocker huh? LOL) but the thing is, Blue Cheese did something (And continues to do something) that other strains simply haven't, and then I started realizing Weed was actually different and NOT all the same (THC might be the same, depending on color of resin of course) but it appears to me in my personal experience that the terpene profile plays a major role in how it reacts to each person.
As I kept smoking different strains I eventually learned that OG Kush was a good one for me medically too, as is Green Crack, and, Chem D which, so far is the closest thing to Blue Cheese (I'll be honest I have no idea why...But Chem D specifically does wonders for me) and then as I tried more Chemdog crosses and Cheese crosses, I noticed they ALL did that, and I had much better results smoking these ones compared to others.
Last year the dispensary had a sale on "shake ounces" (Read that as shitty trim job and mostly sugar leaves and small buds) and GMO was 99 dollars an ounce, and then the next week 75... Knowing that was GSC X Chemdog I wanted to try it out and we had the cash so I went for it, and ended up with about 30 seeds out of that bag.
I'll be honest here, I don't think I've ever been so excited to see seeds in a sack in my life. GMO worked wonders for me, and I'm able to do my thing living life with that strain much like I do with Chem D and the Cheese strains I hold in such high regard that everyone here has heard a thousand times. I have two of those GMO bag seed outside right now, and yes it may very well hermie out on me, but it also may fill a few one pound bags for me of smoke that helps me out and I only paid for it with physical labor.
The Blue Cheese I'm running is a hermie seed too, but I mean, pounds of Blue Cheese (4 maybe?) for the cost of sweating my ass off which I'm gonna do anyway, I'm personally OK with that.
Chem D is the same way; started out with Father in Law getting a clone and me almost wetting myself seeing them, and we found a couple seeds in it, so last season I ran one, and we're out now sadly, so, I have 4 plants this year instead of one (2 hermie seeds and I cloned one of them twice) but I need that strain too, so in that particular situation, yeah I'm OK running my bag seeds, in that exact scenario (mine) for that exact reason (lots of bud that MAY have a couple seeds here and there, it's usually not much for Chem D or Blue Cheese).
If reading that cluster fuck of a post hasn't driven my point home yet:
TLDR; Sometimes bag seed has lead to wonderful things like Chemdog, Chem D etc..., and sometimes it's a waste of time and resources and may even blow up in your face. LOL. I guess I see both sides on this one.
