Seeds popping still in calyx

Noticed a seed throwing out a tap root while still in a growing plant. Conditions no doubt helped cause this (growing outdoor, couple days of rain and not much sun) but wondering how common this is. I popped the seed, gave it a new home and its doing great. But wondering if this is a freak occurrence or common in the right conditions?

I wish I did. When i first noticed it I wasn't sure what it was, then the next day I noticed it had grown so i quickly popped it and planted. The tap root had circled the seed and was pushing into the air so i didnt want to waste any time. The original plant had flowered prematurely due to starting too early in the season so i pollinated it with a male of the same strain (erdpurt x friesland from kwik seeds). Was happy to get 10 seeds from the dwarf plant. Actually looking through my camera roll I did take a couple pics but the tap root isnt evident. Will post nonetheless

I don't remember the who it was but that happened to someone else I'd read in a journal somewhere on some forum yrs back. Was end of season, heavy rains, and guy had a few seeds popping tail on plant from what I remember.
Uncommon for sure, your #2 I've heard about.
But very possible imho.

I had this happen to me a few years back it is the weather only had a couple but not uncommon for outdoors seeded plants that are left out late in season
to have a good chance of sprouting in my own xp

Thanks for the replies everybody. We are in spring where I am so it feels a little weird to have matured a plant and be growing the next generation all so early in the season. I'm new to the forum and it's great to see such a supportive and knowledgeable community here. Thanks again for answering my question and not making me feel dumb for asking. Posting a totally unrelated pic as a thankyou to all who took the time to reply

About 2 years ago, I pollinated the heck out of an outdoor indica leaning fem auto I had going, and I left the somewhat neglected and dusted lady there as long into the season as I could to make sure the seeds fully ripened.... I was totally surprised to see sprouted seeds in some of the calyxes when I harvested her ! I had never seen that before either.
