Sex test services

Got my Delta Leaf Labs kits a few days ago and started taking samples so I figured it would be a good time to start a thread for these things. Would love to see some other people share their experience with different services as well (I know you got the Farmer Freeman kits on the way @thenotsoesoteric)

Delta Leaf shipped quickly, and the packs came with really clear instructions. But what I didn't realize until after I ordered is Delta Leaf only does smash samples. The other services I looked at take actual clippings but Delta Leaf has you mash a leaflet into a piece of paper and remove the plant matter. Honestly, I think I would've paid the bit extra for the Farmer Freeman had I realized. It's not that the extra step to smush the leaves is a big deal, it's just an additional chance to contaminate the sample.

On a side note, turns out the blunt end of a dab tool is great for smooshing samples. Here's what you end up with:

I'll get these sent out on Tuesday hopefully and we will see how the testing goes. Update coming in about a week hopefully.

What is the earliest that you can take a sample from seedling?

Come As You Are
I'm sitting on two Farmer Freeman tests if anyone wants to give it a whirl. I'll never use them. I got talked into buying them from a friend that has been using them for a couple years now.

Shoot me a dm or whatever and I'll pop them in the mail to you.
Test results are sent to my email, not sure if that can be changed but forwarding the results isn't a problem.

be nice to have a "test" for seeds that are prices $500.00 + but still ??? for us "hobbiest" see no need for
7 days (or as soon as the first set of true leaves emerge). You can use a cotyledon leave at that point or a larger leaf sample if the plant is older.
so you are knocking off a few weeks - but still one test for one seedling this can be expensive

Well...Maybe but if you like to grow big beastly plants....and grow regs...i hate dumping a 3 gallon beauty that is a dude because he wont show a ball or a hair...my Starfighter is horrible for showing sex ONLY in 12 12 time or less....and being a tricky prick.

Some strains are so easy they just sprout a hair or a double ball (2 fennel seeds is ALWAYS a dude...on a crotch branch)..

I mitigate the bullshit by running 2 or 3 fems to 8 regs per month to keep everything perpetual...but KNOWING early would make it a lot easier. What does it cost to invest in the soil up pot, the nutes...the light and time as you take them to a 8 to 12 week veg? (I am a fan of 2 to 3 full moons....not for everyone but i love it)

Nah, it was $8/test plus the cost to ship the tests back so it's not too pricey at all. And I can never really tell sex until at least 6 weeks and often not until after flip. This shaves off at least a month and as far as I'm concerned probably saves $8 a plant in soil and fertilizer, never mind my time up potting and watering and everything!

So, not that it's a huge difference, but I was just on their site again and apparently it's $10/test now for 10+ kits? They must have virtually just raised their prices cause my receipt says I paid $8.50/test...I just checked to make sure I wasn't losing my mind lol.

For 10 kits Farmer Freeman is $12/test but also offers a shipping option that includes a return label which is handy imo. I think no matter what I'm doing the FF next time, unless Eso has an absolutely terrible experience or something haha
