2) Bagseeds with no knowledge of flower time and genetics that were thrown in jars no labels.
3) Keep nanners on because what are nanners?????
4) Read about growing tomatoes.
5) Don't forget to throw multiple beans in the same pot to get a lot of plants. MULTIPLE!

The Internet is a gift and a curse lol.

Got most of my tips from Ask Ed in High Times. Always wanted to submit a question but was to scared. High Times was like Playboy to me as a kid. Awe inspiring yet not my reality. Until college anyway. Meet lots of people growing and slinging to pay for school. The shit I did terrifies me now that I have kids.

Early 80´s, I popped a bagseed in a pot, left it on the windowsill, told mum to take care of it while I was in Nepal for a few weeks. She is very old school, and not in the good hippie era sense of it when it comes to mindaltering plants and substances and just left my seedling to die after the first couple sets of true leaves. Next grow was a bit more serious effort outdoors. Which failed miserably, imagine growing reg sativas near the arctic circle.. lolz the know how and genetics was what it was.. Dont think we had even heard of autoflowers or ruderalis back then..

I started outdoor with Mexican bag seeds. A sandy creek bank. I left some all purpose fertilizer and a bucket to toss creek water up on them. Pulled the males. Got some 12-14' plants. I remember them being a little wispy, but not terrible. Destroyed them in the dry. Unsmokeable, but I got a taste of growing and i liked it. My spot was a hike, so I got to enjoy some nature too.
My first indoor grow was a 1000w HPS in a hood for a 400w bulb. Used general hydro and haven't switched. Did a ghetto hydro set up. Pots with lava rock in a plastic tub full of nutes and a long bubble stone. Had 4 tubs with 4 plants in each, swimming in kool-aid. Got some bad ass looking plants. Short and stout with thick ass stalks and leathery leaves. Did that until I got some junk in the system. Switched to soilless mix and kept adding lights and multiple rooms. Started keeping males and making seeds. Got into cloning, and that let me start making various crosses of plants and seeing the genes play out.
I found pink grapefruit flavor. First flavor I ever found other than weed and black pepper or spicy hashy. Then I got my first magic find. An industrial chemical cleaner smell, with thick, greasy smoke that tasted spicy and made lips, tongues, and lungs numb. A real sit down and drool for awhile potentcy. I miss her. Real nice girl.

In high school we'd try to grow bag seed any which way we could. Usually outside somewhere, which would always result in the plants inevitable death. One time we got bold and did a small closet run at my buddy's house. We didn't know much about growing other than: 1-how to identify males/females, and 2-they needed 12/12 to flower. Armed with that knowledge we rigged up a small 60w exterior hps light they put on the sides of buildings. We started with 16 or so seedlings and ended up with 4 females that hermied like crazy, were pretty wispy, but sure enough got you high. We had no clue when to harvest them, and we stuck them in a dehydrator to dry. Cure? What's that?

For our 16 year old selves, it was a complete success :)

1993 in a closet wrapped with aluminum foil. Shop lights mounted vertically on four sides (the door had them on it too.) one 400 watt old school, hot, noisy ballast and bulb. I was basically trying to make a big Gravitron. I had some really good bag seed...popped them and grew some buds. To my surprise my friends and I got high. Then adult life kicked in and had to abort until later in life. Has anyone seen or still have an old graviton?...Im pretty sure that's what it was called.
