we didnt have internet back then , reading books was the sht
Us neither. First grow I used an old 400 watt hps with a huge ballast. We never experienced named herb around my parts. If it was bright green smelled good and tasty. It was the limey lime, funk nuggets, bomb whatever. Always just kept the seeds and threw em in my stash. That's what I grew first. Used miracle grow lol. Still had a couple that were pretty good actually hehe.

I had bagseed from mexican brick and one bean from a bag of kind dude brought out from new york. I had to go away for about a week early flower, person watching the plants said the light fell and nocked the top off new york plant. I think he tried to clone it. It ended up having 2 apiacal tops we called twin towers (maybe the size of a bic lighter lol). The mexican brick was yellow (maybe that same blonde mexican?) Ended up herming with airy buds. I at least had Rosenthal's book and followed the 70% recedded pistil guideline for maturity and after all this time I still find it the easiest, most consistent way to judge a plant's maturity.

I remember wiring that heavy ass bay ballast!

And don't forget failure one of the best teachers of knowledge:ROFLMAO:. That was my main instructor:D. My first crop was outdoors and mold killed everything. What do you mean i need air circulation as well as sunlight:ROFLMAO:
Man..Ed Rosenthal's book started my adventure.....I have his pdf if someone wants to host it..for others as reference

My first few attempts were all outdoors late 80's and all 3 fucking times some douche bag stole them on me. Bastards always were weeks early too. First indoor was early 90's with a 250W HPS and a 6 spot Emily's garden. Stocky bad ass Afghani from bagseed. Generally bagseed, never had access to cuts. Had a buddy get some seeds of a G13/Haze cross and finally grew something to be proud of mid to late 90's. Afghani was awesome with tons of little hard nugs but the G13/Haze opened my eyes to this plant, it was big and beautiful like nothing I had seen to that point. Already loved weed but that plant made me fall in love with growing. To this day it's a top 3 smoke for me. Wish it was still around.

My first official harvested grow was an outdoor run here in CO after they legalized it for home grows.
I'd tried running some stuff before but none of them ever made it for one reason or another. Lmfao.

Here's a few pics of em. Lol. Not from seed, they were a couple of clones I'd gotten, and planted in early to mid July.
They were little, but they were pretty damned dank.

hell ya nice, the second grow we ran , my roommate picked up a pvc stand, that held 4 english 4 ft trays, recycled rez... we used straight vermiculite for soiless and that sht rocked, by then we had done some research with the books and what not .... after that its been all down hill, back then we could get a huge brown paper bag of Vermiculite at Home Depot for $12 (before Lowes was around)......it worked great, used that method for years... until the drippers got to get clogged up and just wasnt worthy anymore... so then on to Peat, then on to Coco, then into organic soil and teas.... been thru buying whole lines of nutes and spending sht loads of cash for nutes....after all that, have come to the realization , that u dont have to spend a ton of cash to have a great grow, the KISS method is the way to go guys...
