Skunk #1 - Authentic Genetics - Preservation

Ironically I have been working with RKS & Skunk#1 lines in a few projects here and there is a lot more to Mycrene then we know I have learned from the work I've done. It is the terp that can be a bit diverse, even though it's a catalyst for breaking blood barriers and fast onsets. I have a suspicious feeling that if it's worked enough that foul Skunk could present itself regardless of what the Mycrene presents. Of course there's more to it all, but it's not easy to deny the terp responsible for the skunk when you know that it's breeding true and smells metallic in nature. Next project here will be a selected Skunk#1 from SSSC and some selfing to dig a little deeper yet. If I find it I'll be sharing it with you all.

Also I think there's more Skunk in the Chem D and Chem 91 then we know as I sit here smoking GMO mixed with the two Chem dogs. There's a lot of people that say garlic and onion when we break GMO out and just like with the Chem D those old timers say Skunk everytime it's presented. Canisters aren't effective with these types

I soaked 6, lost one immediately. Little fucker rolled away somewhere.

4 of the remaining 5 planted and sprouted, then 3 of those dampened off in the last couple extra rainy weeks.
So, I've got one little seedling toughing it out so far.

I'll probably pop a couple more in this next round though?

Was just listening to Duke talk on Dude Grows about Skunk #1 and RKS. He said the same thing as Mene Gene did 5 years ago on The Pot Cast.

Both think the foul smells are from the early crosses, like Afghan #1. You need that cross to bring it out. Really interesting.

That is why I'm gathering every little bit of that old stuff from the middle east.
That stinky delicious stuff is growin somewhere or is in someones vault waiting to be found again.

You know my obsession with the Cheese and Chem lines, and I've read that a few of the Afghani landrace strains are capable of VERY "acrid" smells, and as I read through a site describing what Landrace strains smelled like, I couldn't help but notice they said they had smelled Phenotypes of Afghanistan being VERY pungent and.....I mean they say Acrid, but stink and foul are in the nose of the sniffer; Not everyone is put off by a stench, and a guy like me is drawn to some of them.

GMO mixed with Chem....... Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I'd love to smell that!

I had a chance to get GMO last year, and the first note I noticed was PUNGENT Garlic. Once it was busted up though the smell of Onions fried in butter became apparent, and then, a little earthy soil smell not unlike Mushrooms came into play. Once ignited it was almost pure pungent Garlic again. WONDERFUL strain of Chemdog X Girl Scout Cookie.

Chem D is one of my favorites and GMO was added to that list as soon as I tried it LOL.

You know..... Just saying; Sprouting a bunch of UK Cheese, GMO, and Chem D and crossing those back and forth.... In addition to making my nipples hard I imagine you'd have some pretty skunky stuff coming out of that.

You'd also have me straight annoying the shit out of you for a sniff of the garden LOL.

My Herijuana gets some FUNKY notes during the grow - burning rubber dominates; but some latex/baby diaper scents are there until the last couple weeks of the grow -- converts to a hashy, woody scent with a hard to pin down - dark fruit punch? Smoke follows nose - very hashy with that latex overtone.

Wish that foul-ness would stay. I miss that funky, skunkiness!

My Chem D did very similar to that; Started out straight burnt rubber, and then slowly through the cure it stared getting like a lemon Pine-Sol sort of smell, and now as of yesterday the *sigh* VERY last jar of it, has this amazing floral scent coming through..... Odd strain that I love dearly LOL.

Here's my first gal finally making it into bloom. Well, back into bloom, after a couple weeks in and out to sex, pollenate and reveg.
During that time, I was getting a fruity, almost Juicy Fruit smell from them, followed by a savory note on the end. It reminded me most of onions.
Currently though, the fruit seems to have gone, and she's just savory now.

These Skunks in solos were put in flower April 1st or 2nd as an experiment to see what kinda budsicles would come out of them. After a week, all but 1 were removed from the tent for flashing their nuts.
So, yeah, I was definitely bummed once I started seeing all those boys and removing them from the tent.
Then I figured I’d check em out a little closer and try to narrow them down, as far as who to possibly chuck with. I certainly don’t need so damn many, after all, right?
They’re all pretty close looking, growth wise, so I started giving them stem rubs.

Now, granted, they’re basically still in veg, only 1wk bloom, but their rubs are similar, and none are sweet at the moment. The first one I checked reminded me most of garlic bread. Not the heavier roasted, almost burned garlic like Chem D seems to throw, but a slightly milder garlic first, and buttery afterward.

The only girl I have so far started out the first couple weeks of sexing smelling fruity, with a savory, oniony note after. It’s lost the fruit lately, and is just savory now. Can’t wait to see how she finishes…

Maybe they’re liking the Sulphur they’re getting, and expressing with the onion / garlic smells. Who knows…

Back to the males…Now I have to decide what I want to do with them.
Pollen collection, and hitting a little of everything is almost a given, but I need to decide whether I want to collect and mix all of it together, or try to do selective branch pollination with each male.

What would you do??

What would I do in your tent? Hmmmmm... probably take these Skunk pollen from the dankiest plant and cover Blue Cheese, Chem D, and GMO with it. Lol not gonna lie that thought totally makes me think of a stem rub, just not on a plant hahahaha.

But yeah I'd put the pollen to those strains.

If ya get a nice girl put it outside, you've never seen such a large plant!

Well, I do have a couple GMO bagseeds going that could probably be hit in a few weeks, but I don't know if they're S1s or crosses yet though, as they're growing more stout than the original GMO so far.
Speaking of cheese, there are definitely hints of what I'd call a cheesy smell in the males, but I've never had the UK Cheese to compare to.

Just the one girl so far, but cuts were taken, so of course I gotta try her under the sun, as long as they root ok...

Ok now my nipples could cut glass..... lol I've got GMO bagseed going right now too, I loved it! UK Cheese is a bitch to find in Michigan (read that as my broke ass still paid 20 dollars for a fucking pre-roll that was probably shake) but I've got a few new Cheese crosses now so I'm excited to try them!

Yeah I'd like to try the Cheese, mainly to know what the pheno is like while going through the Sk1s.
Did you get a chance to grab any of these preservation beans from @Deebs , the fine caretaker of our preservation runs? @Skunky Dunk Farms did a great open pollenation of them (y)
Every Cheese I've read about says basically pungent; like for me, I had one seedling this passed season that's skunky as fuck! Even some Cat Piss smells. The Cheese and Chem lines are my favorites like, I've literally not had a cross of those that I didn't love!

I don't have any preservation run seeds myself personally, as I honestly can't house a Male plant like at all, at least not yet, so a lot of my Cheese based stuff is either from the buds I grind or, I do have some that were given to me which, I'm super excited to try! I have Chocolate Cheese and some Blue Cheese crosses to try out and because Cheese strains are so hard to find, I've never actually gotten to taste these yet lol. Blue Cheese I originally got as clones, and kept all the seeds, and ran those this passed season which is what is in my jars and a grove bag currently.

I grow as many of those as I can fit cause Blue Cheese helps keep me out of a Doctor office, and medically it's the most important one, and Chem D would be second, though I'm interested to see where these new ones end up. Probably pretty high; my top favorites are basically every cross of Chem or Cheese I've ever smoked. GMO was great too so it's also on that list, but that's a Chem cross too so not really surprising lol.

No, no, no....I'm not asking you to *do* a preservation run. I was letting you know that Skunky Dunk already did the preservation run for the community, and @Deebs could probably tell you where they are, in case you wanted to do your own hunt for your own Cheese.
You certainly don't have to keep any males if you don't want to, but, lets be honest...it may get tempting to chuck a little pollen heheh
