Some Ideas

When phenohunting from the pH preservation beans, we would like to have them journaled. If possible, I was thinking on keeping thread names somewhat consistent for indexing purposes.

When creating a new thread, I was thinking of using the following format:
<Cultivar><Your Name><Date of Drop>
Usage: Tashkurgan Deebs 10/10/21

What do you guys think?

I was mulling over the preservation project and have probably overthought it but here goes anyway.

I've got zero skin in the game at this point but wanted to share my thoughts.

If peep are interested in running a projects and beans are still able to be sourced through RSC and such then they should probably just stump up the cash and do the run. Once the beans are made then anyone that wants them could pay a nominal fee to cover the cost or you could run a community subscription where anyone interested running preservations could pay a few dollars a month and get beans sent out from the community stock, or even use a point system where you 'pay' 50 points per pack but get like 100 for sending beans back.

If the cultivars are not readily available and were hard to source then you can only run them if you have a previous successful grow under your belt, this is purely to ensure the lines don't get lost.

There could be a prize for a successful completion, some new for old genetics, this could work with the point system and those top notch breeders here might even donate a few packs....

I was just a bit worried that peps like @Skunky Dunk Farms are doing a lot of the heavy lifting. I also don't want to see @Deebs shelling out for beans that don't get run and you loose all the stock that was meant to be preserved in the first place.

Sorry, I know this had nothing to do with your initial question! :stoned:

Good points @Ed Rooney. Since this is a community project, everyone really has skin in the game :) I do not have a problem at all with members procuring beans from a reliable vendor, and running those as a preservation for the project. I think we have a lot of great stuff on the list currently, but the idea is for it to grow. There has been a bit of investment in both time, and resources already, but that was to really get things jump started. As far as prizes go, there were some for the initial runs, and may continue going forward, as long as I can figure out some logistics.
