In Bloom
I bred this hybrid back in 2022, I'm currently making open pollenated seeds from my 2 best males from a seed run over 200, with the goal to preserve the best sativa dominated chemotypes that can flower the fastest, so I can grow them outdoors in New York and have them finish before mid october.

The Genetics are: (Plushberry x Cuvee f2)Female x Golden Tiger (Thai x Malawi) Male. As f2's I can see traits all the grandparent's, with proper selection I will be able to preserve my favorite 2, one leaning to the malawi "Mango Carrot" chemotype, the other a Thai dominant chemotype with "Haribo" smells. The flower times averaged around 12 weeks for the f1 generation, I expect the f2 to finish faster.

Resins develop close to senescence along with the hints of pink and purples.

I have too many female contenders growing now to list, so smoke will be the final determining factor in selections for f3 production.

I have a few potential hybrids being made using these males to see what they provide when outcrossed, I don't expect much though, as polyhybrids tend to be unreliable on phenotypes, which ever male produces the best offspring will be kept.

this is one of the examples of the "Malawi" phenotypes, just a bit faster than the Golden Tiger at maturing and entering flower. Looking for the stacking flowers and fat trichome heads, very few if any malformed trichomes.

I should have a few thousand seeds to test by November, after smoking the mother plants of course.

Very interesting. Love the fact you are going through a decent gene pool to pick your selections out.
Question though. Why do you expect flowering times to drop? Are you selecting for shorter flowering females in that gene pool exclusively or is it smoke, structure, appeal that are your priorities in your selections.
Hopefully all four targets are hit in that to give you the win.
Great work

I didn't prioritize the quickest males, or females for this particular hybrid, i mainly prioritize the duration of effects and type(stimulant sativa wake and bake).
The Golden Tiger side of the lineage are where the scary potent phenotypes come from, i expect the f2's to have several examples like the mother plant. Structure overall is less important at f1, and more important here in f2 where the plants range from short stocky hashplant to tall hashplant, all the way to lanky sativas.

This was a squat hashplant phenotype, like the Plushberry mixed with Malawi Gold.

The mother to these f2s was a green stimulating chemotype that has been my favorite smoke from the last 2 years, some immediate appetite suppression(no munchies) and clear stimulating high reminiscent of "Golden Tiger"- Thai phenotypes.
The smells and tastes are very similar to fresh "spruce tips", like blueberry and spicy pineapple, hints of cherry, mango and green apple.

This f2 appears heavily influence by the mother plant but quicker to flower, I expect a 11 week harvest, about a week quicker than mom.

I've noticed that the f1 generation needed roughly 4 weeks just to start producing flowers, and another 7-9weeks to finish, on average. I've noticed about 2 weeks faster transition to flowering on f2 for a majority of the population, with a few late starting sativa phenotypes.

These are f1 generation phenotypes

IMG_20231011_190231.jpgThai leaning caramel candy apple pheno.

Malawi dominant - carrot cake/pumpkin pie smelling pheno. Was unstable and showed ontersex traits so I discarded this clone, very potent either way.

I'm looking for this phenotype again, I believe I found it in the f1 generation and in the f2 generation. Smells like chocolate and coffee, after harvest lots of sewage fumes and "Skatole" smells. Could make really nice base for something funky.

Plushberry phenotype flowers. Didn't keep this pheno due to low yield but it tasted great.

This is a dead ringer for the "Mango Carrot" malawi, f2s show more traits from the grandparent's generation(Golden Tiger) and the hashplant side from the grandmother/p1. I expect this plant to have some "killer malawi" 13-15 week phenotypes as offspring.

And this one is more like the grandmother I bred called "Gashmoygle"(Plushberry x Cuvee f2) a hashplant indica phenotype with chocolate, cherry, caramel and coffee smells, all with a background of whiskey and a funk skatole smell at the backend... so to speak. I would still grow that mother if I didn't have to toss it after a severe spider mite infestation. The mites absolutely loved that plant as much as I did.

I'm getting hints of that mom in a few plants.

I'm growing some f1 phenotypes in mini cups(4oz) to see which plants can handle stress best, and a few out of over a hundred plants have showed the smells and resins I like, a few are more robust and I'm waiting to see if they're resinous too.

This is the Chocolate skatole pheno showing resins, a few trichomes appearing, stretchy sativa hybrid growth. stable male despite the conditions.

An alternate chocolate f2 to the current f2's would be nice to have, i just need the female pheno to go with it, I have a few potential moms.

"Haribo" puffball hashplant pheno, faster flowering than the f1 with lower yield, short indica style compact growth, round flowers.

20241012_230945.jpg20241012_230911.jpg

This puffball looking pheno really needs a larger pot size and more veg to really flourish, but it remains stable, produces few giant calyxes, and the seeds are the biggest ive seen on a plant from this hybrid
20241012_224414.jpg20241012_224409.jpg

This "Caramel Apple" smelling pheno is probably the least capable of carrying its own weight. Needs a trellis, smells amazing, I can't weight to try these f3's Smile.

Butter Toffee/ Caramel- if this smokes like the f1 phenotype, I will be happy, it it smokes like the f1 mixed with the mother plant I used(haribo) then even better.20241012_224805.jpg
Repotting and revegging this after seed collection.

Yes it is.

Good shit!

This phenotype came from a separate f2, a funky Mango male and a Huckleberry/grapefruit mother. There were only a few seeds from that one plant but overall the line successfully passed on the Orange and liver smells to its offspring with slight variation. Yield and vigor are lower, but calyx to leaf are impressive as well as resins. It made over a dozen seeds, if it smokes well those will be tested.

This is a recessive malawi phenotype.

"Orange Puffball" pheno. Stable, keeper if the smoke is good.
IMG_20241024_223024.jpg
Haribo f2 phenotypes, slight bits of purple showing on this plant near harvest, unlike mom. Cherry, pineapple, mango, kiwi, candy smells. A few f3's on this plant will be tested immediately after smoke tests.
IMG_20241024_221814.jpgIMG_20241024_221805.jpg
This one is complex, I call it "Croquembouche", very mixed body and head effects, bordering on shroomy. Smells like vanilla, matcha cream, nutmeg, caramel and bailey's liqueur, with funky fermented mango smells after the sweetness wears off. In my experience - the more complex spicy and herbal the smells usually the longer the effects.
IMG_20241024_223430.jpg
Mango-Whiskey Liqueur, very strong mango scent, funky and spicey notes. Stem rub smells like a sweet whiskey mango earthy spice. Grows like the "Killer Malawi"

IMG_20241024_222737.jpg
Another mango smelling "killer malawi" phenotype. Stretchy and heavy yielding, stable too, if it smokes well I will grow the seeds it is packing. Looks and smells like a keeper.
IMG_20241024_224042.jpg
Mango-Ginger Soda pheno, has attributes of the f1 "ginger beer" phenotype but with a more tropical twist on the flavors. Lots of seeds from the f2 keepers, I expect around 50-100 from thos plant, prolific seed maker, stable and very strong smells and resins despite its seed production.
