yes...now is the time to get them going for sure.I need to get my shit together and start some pepper seeds
The BossLady grabbed us a Bakers Creek catalog and I don't remember seeing the Tabasco seeds in there this year. I'll have to double-check to make sure tho. I definitely going to get into some Tabasco and scotch bonnet this year and possibly some Thai pepper to expand into those asian flavors. The tabasco was my best last year so it's back the ones in the brown wrappers are favorites from my daughters garden last year I'm gonna buy a few plants too tomatoes as well are getting started as well
Thai not as productive but have real nice flavor one of my favorites as my entire above ground garden is 10 x 10 I've gotta plan carefully & stick with known producers but that's what keeps things interestingThe BossLady grabbed us a Bakers Creek catalog and I don't remember seeing the Tabasco seeds in there this year. Going big in the tomato world as well. If I was to recommend one Tomato as my current favorite I would say "Ace 55" it has a great size and a square-like shape that slices with an appropriate amount of meat. Taste is on point. If anyones looking for something newer and hasn't tried it I don't believe you'll be disappointed.Thai not as productive but have real nice flavor one of my favorites as my entire above ground garden is 10 x 10 I've gotta plan carefully & stick with known producers but that's what keeps things interesting View attachment 54233
I run burpee & baker creek & whatever else that looks promisingHeck ya Herk, it's that time again! I need to find a good Tabasco line. I ordered some paper latern habenero last night and I still have some Jalefeugo Jalapeño and cayenne from last season. I usually get all my veg seeds from Johnny's but they had slim pickings last night, think I need to branch out

The pabliano is a mild well flavored chili that makes good rellenos I roast them on my bbq grill then use them in chili I'm really wanting to roast them & put them in my smokerI actually wound up placing an order with Baker Creek shortly after posting that... Johnny's emailed me they ran out of some of my tomatoes and cukes I ordered so I decided to try these guys on your recommendation.... got some Tabasco and Poblanos coming my way now

They're dirt cheap here that's why I havent grown those or Anaheim the new Mexico hatch I'm wanting thoughYeah, chile rellenos is standard fare in my house. I basically just grow them for that and only make it when I have my own poblanos. Ive virtually never bought a poblano in my life lol. I do usually dry some to make anchos for Chile's and sauces. Last year I got 3 total poblanos and im still kind of sad about it

Ya to be honest it not worth the work when you live in ca....Yeah, I remember when I was living in Cali briefly the produce markets were incredible. We've gotten better over the years but obviously the short growing season here is a hindrance. The markets near me rarely have chile's other than jalapenos and cayennes, and they aren't very good. Sometimes I can find habeneros.
Speaking of, I'm real jealous your starting seeds already. I'm probably looking at mid to late March at the earliest. Need to get all the weed seedlings off the light racks too lol
