Adjusted my super soil mix ... recorded here since I will inevitably forget...

4 parts potting soil
2 parts compost
1 part coco
1/2 part perlite
1/3 part biochar

Per gallon of soil:
1/2 Tbsp. Seabird Guano
1/2 Tbsp. Alfalfa Meal
1/2 Tbsp. Fish Bone Meal

Usually I use mostly Coast of Maine products but covid shortages had me getting creative so the base is 50/50 Happy Frog and CoM potting soil. Perlite is Espoma Organic, coco is Mother Earth ... I prefer the lobster compost but had to go cow manure. Apparently with all the restaurants closed CoM couldn't get enough lobster shells for their compost. Crazy all the ways the pandemic has affected life that I never even remotely considered...

Used this as a base with some straight potting soil on top to transplant the fems. 20200628_150743.jpg

Here's the prey of the hunt :phenohunt: ... all filling in nicely. Once the new tent is here they will move there and this tent will go back to vegging only ... and maybe autos ... the 4AM smells so nice and was so sticky icky its got me considering dropping a Creme de la Chem despite my proclamations of being done with autos for a while

Here's some Black Cherry Pebbles shots:

Allow me to introduce to you all to Rasputin ... so named for her ability to survive what should kill any plant.

Rasputin's background is such ... she was the second Seedsman NL Auto i planted and from the beginning her form and growth were not what I would have desired. The first NL wound up being one of the worst plants I've ever grown ... the smoke is mediocre, the buds are large, and she took forever to finish ... combined with a bad fungus gnat infestation it was enough for me to banish her to the backyard ...

I could have killed her, but I had a hypothesis i wanted to test:

First: Without any further attention the plant would die in short order, especially considering the below freezing temperatures when she was evicted

After 3 months outdoors I can succinctly say, my hypothesis was disproven. The plant has survived snow, multiple frosts, pests, no additional nutrients, no water except natural precipitation.

This led to a second hypothesis: due to internal triggers as an autoflower the plant would flower on schedule.

This was also disproven. The plant is clearly way behind schedule. She is flowering now, and even frosting up a bit, but even for how long this strain runs she is way behind the one grown under more optimal conditions.

In conclusion, cannabis is a durable little fucker ... incredibly hard to kill when left alone ... and stress does appear to inhibit flowering in auto flowers, which I had heard before, but it was neat to see in person.

Remember, the More you Know ... and knowing is half the battle, because knowledge is power ... etc. 20200628_143420.jpg 20200628_143424.jpg

First plant to show sex is one of the Roms ... break out the cigars with the blue rings, its a boy!

Couple quick questions for the breeders on here ... how long before I need to separate the males and can I safely throw them back into veg temporarily?

A few of the items for my new tent were delayed until late next week so I got a little ahead of myself here and haven't freed up a tent yet for my males.

I'll seperate the males as soon as they are sexed if Im hunting. It likely wont spill, but boys can produce viable pollen as early as 2 weeks from first ball.
Tossing it back into veg wont hurt a thing. May just take a lil longer to go back to flower if it doesnt have a chance to fully revert to veg first.

This is one of my Black Copper Marans. It's about 7 weeks old. You see this face it's making? You know what this is the face of ... 20200702_184459.jpg

This is the face of a chicken shitting on the guy trying to put him in his home for the night so the Fisher's don't get him. Ungrateful little thing ...

And yet again, thanks for the tips red!

I'm hoping I have more males to choose from, and overall I don't love this guy. Early flowering is cool but not a trait I'm really targeting.

Speaking of boys and girls, first confirmed female is ... SCJ!

20200702_202340.jpg

Fastest growing SCJ too ... I was sure she was a he haha.

Meanwhile, 5 more males ... 2 x Aluna, 2 x Swazi x Burmese and 1 x Dope Beard Durban. Trying to decide who to keep ... I'd like to keep 2 but I'm worried about cross contamination since they would have to share a tent.

Originally I had planned to keep either the Romulan or Durban. I love those strains and thought I'd want to work with them. But man if these SxBs aren't speaking to me. Its going to be funny when I keep the strain I got as a 420 freebie instead of the ones I spent virtually weeks agonizing over whose to buy. Meanwhile the Romulan male just isnt appealing to me. The Durban is definitely a consideration though.

Aluna males are almost definitely getting pulled tomorrow.

Also need to get the new tent set up this weekend. Still waiting on my new light but I have everything else. The girls may need to move in there with just the 315 until my quantum boards show up so I can free up the old tent for my male.

I'm really thinking this is the male I'm keeping, I can't find anything on this strain, or really even much about Coastal Seeds to be honest. But apparently their defunct so I have even more motivation to hang on to it. Assuming my last SxB is a female at least I can make more. 20200703_175039.jpg

Its also the best and strongest smelling of the males ... spice, earth and a touch of citrus already.
