Yup, I've been adding nematodes religiously and they always seem to work for a while, but then suddenly the tents will just be swarming with them again. Fortunately the thrips have receded and I'm barely seeing them now but the gnats have been horrendous.

They got so bad they killed one of the FVK seed mommas. I came home one night and it was just dead. I pulled it out of the pot and the soil was swarming. I was bummed, only a handful of seeds off that one were mature. Fortunately the other is going strong still.

I need a good soil drench to add to my IPM. I was looking for gnatrol but I can only find the 5 gallon pails and that's a bit excessive for me.

You can get the gnatrol in as small as 2oz packs from the fleabay. I buy 1/4lb @ a time.
I really honestly believe they come with batches of soil, we just happen to germinate the lil Bastards when its humid enough to suite them.

And I agree completely, they have to be hibernating in the soil just waiting for us to wake them up. And I think it's getting worse.

I think I'm gonna try a liquid bti like microbe lift bmc, or aquabac xt over the granulated stuff since it's a pain to top dress it with the hydrolock cones.

This week has been a steaming pile of garbage so far. I made a $12k mistake at work that spiraled into a ton of logistical BS, and apparently I just plain old suck at growing weed all of a sudden. It's just bad news on bad news on bad news. I know that's kind of a meaningless update, but my only local growing friend moved away, so I have no one to bitch too.

I know I'll get it squared away, just really frustrated right now. Which if course is just making things worse because I'm discouraged so I'm not putting as much effort into the garden as I usually would. Probably won't be updating this thread anymore. Gonna start a new one once I get going here again. Fresh starts all around.

The chucking tent is finally empty, cleaned and ready for the Bahlki though, so that's the good news. I'll start a thread for that as well. Chucking is the only part of my growing that's going well right now lol.

Ya I hate to say , but it seems and sounds like you're grow is a job now, and isn't any fun so I can understand what you're going through, the bug's this year is bad and it really sucked.....

I hate to say but the only way you're going to get away from this problem is to completely start over, and if I was you .. I would be buying my soil now and letting it sit in the hot garage or somewhere else cover for a month or two before even using it.... honestly I would open the 1st bag and mix DE in it and let it sit and make sure you start off clean....

I'm taking your exact advice. Shutting everything down except the chucking tents (they're in a separate room and don't seem to be having these issues). I'm jettisoning all my old soil and coco into the compost pile and starting fresh. Work on getting my environment dialed in, test out some blumats or hempy or something so they don't need to be watered as often.

Honestly I feel bad even bitching at all. Life's not that bad. It's just exhausting right now. But I know other people are in worse spots than I am.

I talked to my fam this morning, we decided to go on a camping trip next weekend, so that will be a nice chance to reset. I don't even care if work goes to shit while I'm gone. All these customers this year suck anyways. I already canceled a vacation for them a couple weeks ago. I'm gonna go hide in the woods for a few days and they can just deal with it.

Bitch away man, feels like everyone is ignoring the purple elephant in the room but them clones screwed me something serious so I was surprised how long folks were willing to keep trying with them. I did a hard reset in May and couldn’t get seeds to pop til June and only just got things flowering. It’s okay to be sad and angry over this for a bit because a lot of time and emotions go into growing. Hopefully that camping trip helps and when you get back things are better.

It's not just the canna this year, it's every thing we've grown inside and out , veggie, flowers etc.

Heatwaves wreak havoc on crops. Two successive heat waves here kept my tomatoes and squash from setting fruit for almost a month. My normally softball sized peaches are more like raquetballs and not very juicy. It is widespread. And the thrips this year are next level.

As for the customers, the thing about fences is unless everyone starts getting along, they'll always be in demand... needless to say, I'm not too worried about finding more work haha

@Skunky Dunk Farms @GthaEnigma you guys are definitely right, the weather hasn't helped anything. My vegetable garden got ravaged by the alternating heat and excessive rain as well. The chickens have gotten a lot of tomatoes that split before they ripened this year. A lot of tiny apples too lol. At least someone is benefiting from this crap I guess!

And the bugs man... we're turning into a temperate rainforest out here on the new england coast. I've never seen so many bugs, or this variety. Starting to remind me of when I was in Central America. It's crazy.
