So, in a galaxy far far away a guy had some beans collected for Skunk #1, NL#5, a RKS line along with a pure Haze.
What would he do to get the most bang for his buck.

Ok but really, if I open pollinated say 10 girls each of these then open pollinated 10 girls each of the crosses and then did that 1 more time what would ya end up with?
In the first gen I'm sure there would be some dandies but next would be a serious hunt right?
I'm just buzzed and thunkin out loud.

This is interesting. Instead of you selecting the traits you want in these plants and then crossing looking for best of both you would be letting the plant take you in the direction it wants to go before you start selecting.

When I started up again my goal was to look through as many beans as possible to get to know the plant from a perspective I never looked for previously. I purposely chose 'basic' lines with the idea that in sifting through and growing them I would get to know their traits better so that when I came to more complex crosses I would have a better understanding of the genetics that made up those crosses and make it easier for me to pick observable traits and terps in those plants.

So from that perspective after an open pollination like yours I'd want to do multiple runs of each line looking through them and getting to know them better. From there I would have a good understanding of the phenos that were the better smoke, had the best structure for yield etc. Then I could make a selection from each of those lines and cross them to see what happens.

There just seems to be almost infinite possibilities. How much NL#5 do you want in your RKS, 25%, 50%, more?

It is all about the hunt.

Do you hunt with intent or do you hunt waiting to see what comes to you?

Geeze man, stop asking such deep questions, especially when I'm smoking on the Double Black.

I have a vial of Swazi Gold. Normally when I run photos (for seed production indoors), I run numerous phenos under 18, find a nice one, switch to 12/12 lighting. For sativa landraces, isn't it like 14 on, 10 off? Late to the game; have other projects growing on, but perhaps March I can get Swazi going. Any suggestions welcome on light regimen.

Off to fill orders, both capsules & seeds, readying for tomorrow's mail. Busy time of year with Fall garden dismantling, composting.

Awesome day to all of you!

Here's an all in one update on 3 runs being done now. 20211026_100327.jpg

First up is the AG Northern Lights #5 F2 run, 3 girls, 7 boys. Sexed, separated and 8 days into flower at day 40ish.
20211026_100425.jpg

Then of 5 seeds only 2 and they are girls of Deep Chunk. At day 40ish and day 6 of flower.

And finishing up is AG Road Kill Skunk F2, 3 girls, 7 boys, seperatedand at day 34 and day 6 of flower.

All in the 4x4 under 2 qb 244's, males in greenhouse until the pollen drop. Then the new lil 2x2 will be used for pollination duties for a couple
days each cross?*$%#@@@!
And then back unto the 4x4 to all finish like one of those sci fis where the girls rule the planet lol.

That is all.

I know I'm one of what are I'm sure a plethora of growers. But the landraces specifically are my personal passion project and hope to be able to contribute to this engagement in as many ways as possible. Either way, I love it!
We're eating an elephant here.

You don't have to do a seed run to participate, part of preservarion is growing and showing the fruits of our labors.

Has anyone completed a run with preservation project beans yet that they didn't make themselves?

I am blown away by the good vibes and good people here. I would be honored to do a preservation run when it is my turn! My grows are organic super soil, full spectrum LED's and water only except for a floral tea every 2-3 weeks. I will have ample space in about 2 months. The only plants I do not care for are the long running Sativa's. I have a few shorter running Sativa's which do me well at 10 weeks. Here I am, put me in coach!!!

Here is a somewhat current list I need to update yet. Anything without a member is open. You could also get something of your choice from a reputable vendor as an addition to the community library. Just let me know!

Those beans are getting under my skin, not gonna wait! Nepal Highland #3 beans are a comin' soon.
Was going to wait till first of 2022 but I love a new challenge and new genetics. Starting to harve their new home. As soon as those beans are out of my mailbox, they are going for a swim! I will start a thread for the Nepal Highland #3 preservation run when they are above ground.
